I have never used any feeder before, never really knew about them until I started watching Carp fishing videos on UA-cam! It was either Luke Nichols ( Catfish & Carp) or TA Fishing ( Graeme Pullen?) using them, like I said I never knew anything about them, until then! Whenever I started really getting into Carp fishing, with my Dad, we always made up a doughball, doughbait, about a softball size of dough and when you got to your fishing hole, you take a piece of that dough and wad it around your hook, leaving the hook point exposed, the Carp were never bothered by that, they just wanted to get to that dough. And we or I, had several different types of Doughball I would make up, usually just before I went fishing. Anyways, ever since I saw these feeders and different packbaits, I’ve been wanting to try them, but unfortunately I haven’t been fishing in a few years, just life in general has got in the way! But, great video buddy! 👍👍✌🏻
there are many ways to catch a carp, and i am sure what u described works too. If u want to catch more a feeder really helps the carp find your hookbait. Thanks for checking the video bud
i_fish - yeah I can dig it! Yes sir, people catch Carp off all kinds of stuff, everybody has their own bait , you know? I’ve seen a guy catching them on Frozen Peas , slightly thawed though! lol! He caught some double digit carp too on those peas. Oh, he was putting them on a hair rig! Anyways, take care buddy and have a good weekend! ✌🏻
Appreciate the info. I use the spring style, bought on ebay. They get the job done for me. What's your opinion on putting the hook in the pack bait vs letting the hook bait dangle? I've been experimenting with both ways. I get less tangles if I put the hook in the pack bait, but then I'm always wondering if my hook bait is buried underneath the feeder when it's laying on the bottom.
I have done quite a bit of carp fishing in my day and prefer the inline spring feeder to all the others. A weighted feeder (65gm), weight mounted around the stem of the feeder, the feeder seldom rolls even if there is a light current in the lake. What we never use here in India is braid for carp fishing. The only bit of braid we use is for the hook length. These rigs are accurately measured out to suit the species of Indian carp we target. We have 5 species of carp here and some of them like the Catla grow to 50kgs +. Others like the Rohu grow to 25kgs +. The rigs we use are balanced pop-up rigs that hover close to the feeder. The popups being buoyant are slightly weighted down by an accurately measured bit of lead wire around the braid hook length. Maybe less than a gram in weight (Depending on the size of the popup being used). This gives the hook length a little sag in the middle as the pop up suspends the hook near the feeder. The hook length is either 11cm or 14cm depending on the target species. The fish seldom go for the popup which is coloured and buoyant. The fish suck the bait off the feeder, and because of the slight slack in the rig caused by the balanced rig, the popup with the hook jumps into the fishes mouth as it tries to suck in bait from the feeder. To see whether the rig is made properly, i drop it into a glass of water, the rig with the pop up and the lead should hang around the middle of the glass of water, and not touch the surface of the water in the glass (too much buoyancy) or lie at the bottom (too heavily weighted down). Either of the two could cause missed bites. Don't know if you guys out there use system, but it is very effective, and the fish is always hooked in the mouth. Tight lines
you sound like a british carp angler. They infested the world with all that. I don't measure anything, not for carp fishing, nor any other fishing. I am lucky i can still catch them, because i would quit carp fishing if i had to do all that : ) . U will see my carp rig in next video.. as simple as it gets
Haha - u know, when i pack them with bait and u toss them in the water it feels like explosion when they hit the water! I always try to. Stop them in the air before they hit the water to reduce impact
Good video, love the lead idea. I just started using these method feeders and way better results than just chumming and throwing out my line, which was my old method.
Thanks so much for this video Brother. I really appreciate the pointers and your opinions. Glad to follow you as I'm learning so much and barely beginning to get serious into carp fishing. I order some the Chinese style from Amazon from Amazon that you recommend and thanks for recommending the gCarp hooks from Bass Pro shop as it was cheaper from them then Amazon I am gonna start building my arsenal. Thanks once again
Fishing Friends, this is an amazing review. Victor goes to such detail! Amazing! I agree with the data provided here. The inline feeders are amazing for casting and performance just as Victor describes here. The ones that are on the swivels are okay if you do not need to cast very far. The feeders with the lead on the bottom side and the ribs on the top to me are the most versatile and great for current. Listen to Victor! The most important thing here is to purchase within your own budget and buy the model you feel is best designed for your waters.
I do put lead in some of them, not to lay on one side, but because some of them come too light for river fishing. For my fishing it doesn't matter on which side it falls, because I don't attach the hook, and the hook is always on top of the bait.
I dont coat the plastic ones or anything that is black. But sometimes they sell them shiny. If shiny, i will dip them in whatever dark paint i have. Nothing fancy here

I almost always put the hook in the pack...works for keeping the non-inline feeders/weights from generating tangles, too.
Will discuss in the carp rig video. I do Not put it in the packbait precisely because of ur concern but i make sure i dont get tangles either
Brian Sherwood if u use non inline, you would have no choice but to put it in. But with inline u can avoid it.
@@brian1204 Thanks Brian.
@@ifishcatfish Thanks Victor.
Awesome! I've been hoping you'd make a feeder video. Thank you for your detailed reviews, you're a godsend.
thanks bud

Those look like Grenades. Nice collection. I have never used those but see you and others do very well with cages. Looking forward to the play list.

I have not watched, yet, and I will but this is something that needed to be done. good choice for a topic
Thanks buddy

They will definitely find your hookbait easier with a feeder
Very informative video. Just subscribed! Thanks
i haven't done a carp video in a while, but need to do some more. THere is great carp fishing here

You bet I will. What do you consider big? For me I get excited catching bluegill can't wait to hook up with a nice size carp.
Thnx for the video as always informative and explained with detail

I have to agree the spring feeders are a buy losing 5 dollars for the fancy ones is like losing a demon dragon a was time lol awesome video
good analogy! :)
Have you considered putting lead inside the spring feeder so it lays on the heavy side?
I do put lead in some of them, not to lay on one side, but because some of them come too light for river fishing. For my fishing it doesn't matter on which side it falls, because I don't attach the hook, and the hook is always on top of the bait.
Good review. Thanx.
thanks JP
Have you ever tried squishing the **spring cage** style feeder (I think the first type you showed) in a bench vise to make it less likely to roll?
No but when i pack the bait with my hands i dont pack it into a ball but into a flat piece. Similar effect.
i_fish I’ll have to give those a try. Right now I hot glue milk jug caps to the top of some no roll sinkers I got cheap on eBay.
They cost about double now due to all recent bullsh but still not bad, most of them under 2 bucks
What paint do you use to coat your feeders? I didn't catch if you mentioned it in the video.
I dont coat the plastic ones or anything that is black. But sometimes they sell them shiny. If shiny, i will dip them in whatever dark paint i have. Nothing fancy here
I had no interest in fishing carp, until I reached this channel ... what have you done to me?
Anyway, good content, thanks!
It's an incredible fishing resource, completely untapped in USA. They will bite all summer, when all other fishing is dead. You are welcome! : )
