SAD day. MEAT was a great down to earth guy. Its been bad lately, with Eddie Van Halen, Dusty, Neil Peart, Charlie all the stars are passing. Today, I put this "album" on, crackles and all.

It's 1978. I'm 21. I have a college boyfriend who pretty much said he needs me, he wants me, but there's no way he's ever gonna love me, and proceeds to tell me about the one HE loved, who said just about the same thing to him. "Two out of three ain't bad."

@@jeffwilliams8074 Oh my gosh, I’m with you all, I’m devastated. I am with you in rock n roll spirit... we will keep him relevant and special in our hearts ♥️
45 years ago I listened to this album, actually on 8 track in a car, and it was the most unique album I'd ever heard in rock and loved it then. Today I realize that my ears are even better for hearing the clever and even funny lyrics written by Jim Steinman and the incredible production value brought by Todd Rundgren. Meatloaf was really more important to me in my youth than I realized up until his departure a couple of days ago. Rest well good sir. Heaven no longer has to wait.
My Father would play this on our road trips to see family out of state. My Father would respond to the beat and I would sing. I didn’t know what the lyrics meant but that doesn’t much matter. I had this album memorized by the early 80’s. Amazing memories with my Pop. If I could have just one more road trip with him, I’d give anything. He passed in 2019. This album keeps him and I connected.
If this doesn’t bring a tear to your eye then you’re not human, thank you meatloaf for your massive contribution to the world of music. This will be remembered as one of the best rock albums of all time and you will be remembered as the best rock singer there ever was… we love you dude
I will never grow tired of this album. I grew up with Meat Loaf. Twelve years old the year this album came out. Many fond memories of high school dances with friends. My high school graduation party singing Paradise by the dashboard light with the band. This misunderstood man was incredibly talented and had intelligence beyond words. May he rest knowing how much the world loved him and his music. 🕊❤🎭🤟
There will never be another album like Bat Out of Hell. The whole record is simply one of the greatest and most elaborate rock albums ever made, with Steinman's gorgeous lyrics combined with Meat's powerful voice and one hell of a backing band. This is an album about hot summer nights and cities of the damned, first love, last love and ascension into Heaven itself. An all killer, no filler 7 song masterpiece. One of my favourites ever.
Amazing to think that it didn't sell well in America at first. But Meat picked up legions of fans in the UK and Australia then Germany. After that the American radio stations started to take an interest, playing it all so nice and safe ... as usual. But whatever, a great album finally got the recognition it deserved and the three minutes per track convention didn't affect it too much because of the huge public demand.
After getting home from seeing meatloaf in concert, myself, wife and daughter, always belted out these fantastic songs, One of the greatest album ever made, RIP BIG MAN
Crying buckets of tears. Saw Meat Loaf live in 1982 when I was 18. Best concert ever (that is saying something since I saw Rolling Stones live the same year). Meat Loaf was the ultimate showman / Singer / performer. With Jim Steinman's songs - nothing was better. May he Rest In Peace.
I was only listening to this yesterday and I heard this morning that the big man passed away last night. RIP to an absolute legend. I was fortunate enough to see him perform live back in 1994, I was only 17 at the time and I was in complete awe at this mans energy and complete devotion to his music. Your music will live on always sir.
I couldn’t belive what I was hearing meat loaf saved my life if it wasn’t for anything for love coming on the radio at the right time I would of taken my own life I was in an abusive relationship and believed I wasn’t worthy of love was about to take the pills when it said but I won’t do that I owe my life to this man
I saw him in 1996 when I was 11. It was my first concert and it was AMAZING. He is responsible for getting me hooked on concerts. I also grew up singing these songs with my Dad. I am incredibly sad.
@@Novakins13 I wish that I had the chance to see him in concert. I bet you measure all the other concerts you attend against how his concert made you feel.

One of the greatest albums of all time, captivating from the first note to the last. It's been one hell of a ride. R.I.P. Meat Loaf Few make it to immortality but this album carved Marvin Lee "MeatLoaf" Aday's name into the record of this world.
It was '90-'91... I was 9/10 years old. Still on my meds for petit-mal (absent seizures.. a form of epilepsy), parents were in the middle of a shitty divorce, loads of confusion, anger and mixed emotions... but this was the first album I remembered word for word off by heart. I found true solace in it. "Now my body is shaking like a wave on the water" RIP to the big man MEATLOAF, (and Jim Steinman) you kept me sane all these years through the madness, all that pointless, nonsensical madness, but you both made sense to me... Heaven can wait, it did for you!
Rest in Piece legend! Your music will never be forgotten. Both Meatloaf and Jim Steinman, may you rest forever in piece. We will enjoy this master piece until the end.
I grew up on this. Wore that cassette tape until it broke. One of my Mom's favorites. She passed away in 1992. I'd like to think they are jammin together right now...R.I.P. Meatloaf. Thanks for a lifetime of memories
Meat loaf was a rare gem! The man, at his peak, had a 4, count 'em, 4 full octave range! For someone not classically trained this is amazing!! RIP Meatloaf,,, your music was such an important part of my becoming an adult, and to this day, I'm 59, the memories associated with this music always come flooding back!!!
I can't believe Meat Loaf is gone from this world. I sit here crying, Listening to his music that has touched my very soul so often, and thinking: maybe just maybe, he actually finally did just "break out of his body and fly away, like a bat out of hell".

Graduated 1981 listening to this albums in our hot rods. The good old days, I’d go back to that time in a heart beat. I feel sorry for people who didn’t grow up back then. It was the best times.
I really think I was born in the wrong time as I'm an 2005 baby but these songs are just incredible I'd have loved to have been brought in 1980s USA (I'm from the UK)
Me too, graduated in 83 but hung out w/class of 80 lots of keggers to attend and all that great music from the 70's and early 80's. Excellent time to raise hell. Not too many killings and dumb shit just hard partying. Few killed in car wrecks...NW Montana was a great place to be a kid in the late 70's
That's what's up,. Little Ted Nugent I have a granddaughter 24, always asking me to tell her stories from 70s,.we saw every band more than once not many I haven't seen,. Rock would never die,.
I was 16. Now everyone in my life is too young to even know who Meatloaf was! I'm blowing it out! I'll teach them who the F Meatloaf was!! He changed our lives! And much thanks to Jim Steinman!! RIP to these mind blowing artists! My life is better because of them!!
I feel 18 again today and all the craziness, dances and screaming we did listening to this album…I’m looping this album all day…Rest in peace…”for crying out loud, you know I love you….” ❤️❤️
This is one of the greatest albums of all time. Meat Loaf and Jim created a masterpiece, and we lost both of them within a year. RIP Meatloaf and Jim Steinman
Today is my deceased fathers birthday and this was one of his favorite albums. Growing up (in New Jersey) we only had AC in his bedroom, a small window unit which kept the room bearable. My brother and I used to sleep on the floor in his room when the heat became unbearable. To this day I remember vividly the room illuminated by his tape deck while this album (tape) played. I couldn't even guess how many times we listened to it. RIP Bronc, listening to this today in your memory.
fonding memories: pretty much what we are made of when older than 40/50yy... (together, of course, the live currently living). You will keep enjoying this immortal music (I figure it can be easy a soundtrack of a film in 100 years tim, describing our days) and keep remembering your loved ones, re-living precious time with them...

A total hero of my childhood. When I was about 10, growing up in the North East of Scotland, we used to have a lovely school bus driver who would kindly take music requests and he'd play out my Bat Out of Hell tape at full blast on the way to school. Haha I even had a giant black Meatloaf t-shirt that came down to my knees which was sometimes worn sneakily as a dubious part of my school uniform. I was going to be one of Meatloaf's backing singers when I grew up- I really, really was! Will always remember all the kids going wild to this, rocking out on the double decker bus and swinging joyfully from the banisters. (1980's H&S!) Knowing we'd have Meatloaf Mornings made the prospect of getting up for school, in the cold and dark much less miserable. Total Simpsons moment! 😆 RIP Dear Meatloaf. ❤🌠 (And thanks to Bill the Bus Driver wherever he may be!) XXX
The music of my youth and throughout my life. Loved this album since it was released when I was 13. Loved all his work and always will. Lucky enough to see him live 5 times. What a voice and what a performer. You will always live on through your music, Big Man. RIP Meatloaf, always missed but always remembered and treasured.
I'm not sure exactly when it happened. But I was at a client's house and they asked me if I'd like to have this CD; said she didn't like it. Who was I, to not accept a free CD? I put it in the car's CD player and I was immediately hooked, by the instrumental, Meat Loaf's incredible singing. I know it's been at least 20 years but still, THIS is music. I still listen to every CD he released and mourn his passing. I hope he and Mr. Steinman are now rocking the angels. RIP Mr. Aday. You blew this old woman's mind and still pushing it around (giggles)
This album was my life when I was 16-17 years old. It's my past, my friends, the people I met and lost. It take's me back to my youth. How it was glued to my turntable and how it make's me so sad and happy at the same time. Every time I hear this I'm taken back to those special day's I can never get back. I miss them. I want them back. I want to be a teen again. I seen Meat Loaf live and I'm so thankful I got to see my legend from the best years of my life. I'm heartbroken of his passing. RIP Meat. God bless you and thank you for what gave the world.
I used to run the Drive-in in my hometown back in high school (‘78 grad). It was out in the middle of nowhere. When prepping the weekend’s movies and cleaning the lot, I’d crank “Bat” on the sound system. Imaging Meat echoing off the surrounding countryside blasting from 150 car speakers!! It was glorious!!
Thank you Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman for giving me the soundtrack of my youth. I can remember where i was and what I was doing when all these songs hit. A truly dynamic duo in Meat and Jim that hasn’t been seen since. Rest in eternal peace to you both. We will cherish the countless mr memories you have given us all
In 1978 I’d play this when I babysat for my brother. Called my girlfriend over and we’d makeout to the whole album. I was 14. After hearing the news, I cried because that was my youth. Brought me back to my teens, again. Playing Meatloaf all day today. Met him a few years ago. Great guy and he made me and my son laugh...RIP Meatloaf...😢
Like so many, I'm giving this amazing album a memorial listen in honour of Meatloaf. This is one of the best albums ever, full stop! Not a bad song on it. Teenage angst was never so eloquently captured as it was, at least for me, by this album and its incredible songs. It was a coming of age album for my generation. RIP Meatloaf. There will never be another like you.
I discovered his music in 2007 my first album was Bat 3. Jealous of everyone that got to grow up listening to him. He will always be my favorite artist.
I used to sing the ABCs to my sons with my Meatloaf affectation on. Signing it around the house again now...wife wants me to sing it for her friends lol...yes, this can teach you to sing!
The first I have listened to Meat since he passed. I can’t stop crying. No other individual has touched my heart so deeply. It was like he always knew my life, my heart, and my soul. I was 15 when two out of three came out. Life will never be the same.
As I get older I realize that my guilty music pleasures bring me more and more joy. It's almost 2 AM and I just finished listening to this entire masterpiece , and though a bit sad I am also filled with joy. Rock on my friends and don't despair these hard times. Meat Loaf is now available on heavens dining table.
It's funny no matter how old I get, when this album starts, I'm 16 again in my first car 8 track blasting. driving somewhere. All the songs have a story the ones that Jim made and the ones that you made. Thank you, Meat and Jim,
One of my earliest memories as a child is sitting in the backseat of my parent's car looking out at the night sky as they played this tape over and over. I don't know where we were going or why, and I don't remember who else was with us, but I will never forget the music and the way it made me feel. I am forty seven years old now and this is still my favorite album of all time.
We are the same age but I don´t think as I was 4 this music were played in the still grey country that Spain was at that time. But as I grew up and the 90´s came everything had changed in my country, since a few years earlier, and Bad Out of Hell II was released. Now, "I´d do anything for love..." is one of my favourite ever. A masterpiece.
wow john, I just loved your words. Really appreciative way of putting it. How amazing is music, that it can put us back to a time and place when we were young, our memories remember how it made us feel. Earth has travelled trillions of miles through space since you were in the back of your parents car, and in an instant our memories can take us back there, even if our technology cant. Tell me that's not a time machine is our musical memories.
My dad played this album on his cassette player so much he wore out the tape... and then my sister and I would fight over who would have the CD. Just an amazing album.
I have them on vinyl. My brother was a fan, he died and somehow (I don't know how) I seem to have them with me. I will say that if you relisten to vinyl records these days you will be surprised how good they sound (except that I need a new belt and have to sort of wind up the turntable to bring it to speed)🤘🤘🤘
Meat Loaf... I must have worn out the needle on our Panasonic record player with the countless times I played the Bat Out of Hell albums in my teens. I loved his duets with Karla DeVito, loved his energy, loved the power of his voice, loved his irreverence. Most of all, though, I loved the fact that, even with the bombastic performances, you could sense he was a decent, regular guy beneath it all - a regular guy who made me smile and one who just happened to have jaw-dropping talent seeping from every pore. Rest In Peace.
So many memories the man gave us. Growing up at 16 in 1978 and listening on the vo-tech bus to WACC. This album is timeless! Unfortunately none of us are timeless. A very tiny part of us died with Meatloaf but a large part of his music still lives in us all . I'm pretty sure you see Paradise By The Dashboard Light right now Meatloaf. Thanks for all you did for us. We'll keep on listening.Rest and Peace to you Meatloaf.
So sad to hear of the passing of Meat Loaf. We grow up with these rock giant's on our cassette player, LPs and CDs. For some frantic reason we try to cling on to our youth and expect our hero's to be around for ever. He's a bat into heaven. RIP Meat Loaf....
This is like an anthem for people like me who were 17 when it came out, who were glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife, and found paradise by the dashboard lights ('70 Gremlin). Thanks for the memories. Rest in Peace and thanks for the music that will live on.

Just really cool, smart folks like us really get Jim's music. RIP Mr. Steinman 🖤👑
This album keeps him and I connected.
nice words Natasanka, I hope you dad is RIP maybe he will meet Meatloaf, this albim and Born to Run saved my life
My Dad passed that same year. This album was a must on every road trip. RIP to them all.
What beautiful memories Natashanka! I am hoping my sons have them with myself, their mom. Blessings!
@@linseykeats2129 awe thank you. I’m certain they will, keep building memories, sometimes they are all we have. ❤️ Love & Light
@@NextProtege I’m so sorry about your Father. Your memories warm my heart, thank you for sharing. ❤️ Love & Light

This will be remembered as one of the best rock albums of all time and you will be remembered as the best rock singer there ever was… we love you dude
I still gives me tingles bro. Was brought up on this. I was born in 85...70s music was the best

RIP - ML
I will never grow tired of this album. I grew up with Meat Loaf. Twelve years old the year this album came out. Many fond memories of high school dances with friends. My high school graduation party singing Paradise by the dashboard light with the band. This misunderstood man was incredibly talented and had intelligence beyond words. May he rest knowing how much the world loved him and his music. 🕊❤🎭🤟
❤

RIP Meat. The world is a darker place without your voice.
David Bowie and Kemmy of Motorhead too, lost lots in 10 years, Bad Company's Brian Howe as well
Err; Lem
There will never be another album like Bat Out of Hell. The whole record is simply one of the greatest and most elaborate rock albums ever made, with Steinman's gorgeous lyrics combined with Meat's powerful voice and one hell of a backing band. This is an album about hot summer nights and cities of the damned, first love, last love and ascension into Heaven itself. An all killer, no filler 7 song masterpiece. One of my favourites ever.
You - dare I say - took the words right out of my mouth
Agreed!! Along with most of PF Wall
No filler.....you're dead right buddy.
@@Rullehjem Now kiss?
Amazing to think that it didn't sell well in America at first. But Meat picked up legions of fans in the UK and Australia then Germany. After that the American radio stations started to take an interest, playing it all so nice and safe ... as usual. But whatever, a great album finally got the recognition it deserved and the three minutes per track convention didn't affect it too much because of the huge public demand.
Meatloaf will never die. His music will live forever!!!!
After getting home from seeing meatloaf in concert, myself, wife and daughter, always belted out these fantastic songs, One of the greatest album ever made, RIP BIG MAN
Best album EVER ❤👍🏆
Crying buckets of tears. Saw Meat Loaf live in 1982 when I was 18. Best concert ever (that is saying something since I saw Rolling Stones live the same year). Meat Loaf was the ultimate showman / Singer / performer. With Jim Steinman's songs - nothing was better. May he Rest In Peace.
I’m 58 and this actually hurt me. It was my best teenage years. I’m with you on shedding tears...😢
Crying, happy, singing along to every single word. Bikes beer bongs bedsits buddies and a bat outta hell. 🦇
1981 in London fabulous memories of a great show
RIP Meatloaf. This album will live forever.
Two years with Meat Loaf in 2024... Rest in Peace, brother! 🙏
Who's still listening to this brilliant classic song in 2022 I am that's for sure.
I couldn’t belive what I was hearing meat loaf saved my life if it wasn’t for anything for love coming on the radio at the right time I would of taken my own life I was in an abusive relationship and believed I wasn’t worthy of love was about to take the pills when it said but I won’t do that I owe my life to this man
So sad to hear the new this morning. His music will live on.
RIP Meat Loaf. Will listen to this on repeat for next 24 hours.

I'll be joining you xx
Next 24 YEARS!

What an epic intro - like a rock n' roll orchestra. Todd Rundgren's playing is amazing. Kids, this what real music is!
My best childhood friend and I were huge Rungren fans. We pounded this album when it came out.
Rundgren's guitar got us into it, then Meat drove it into our souls!
It's like Utopia with Meat on vocals!
Yup!
This album just drips Todd. Part of the perfect circle that made this amazing.
@@pooginmouse indeed. A truly magical mix.
One of the greatest albums of all time, captivating from the first note to the last. It's been one hell of a ride.
R.I.P. Meat Loaf
Few make it to immortality but this album carved Marvin Lee "MeatLoaf" Aday's name into the record of this world.
RIP.
"Now my body is shaking like a wave on the water"
RIP to the big man MEATLOAF, (and Jim Steinman) you kept me sane all these years through the madness, all that pointless, nonsensical madness, but you both made sense to me...
Heaven can wait, it did for you!
Well said, friend 💕
He is a legend in the World of Rock and Roll. Everyone had this album and knew all the words.
A legend and left a mark on many
I wonder if it could have helped your folks like it did you if they'd of just listened? Maybe.
I grew up with this album, it just gets better over the decades.
Yeah and back then the only way to listen to it was either buy the album or listen to jus the hits of the album on the radio..
What a voice, you will be missed, Meat Loaf! RIP 🙏.
Rest in Piece legend! Your music will never be forgotten. Both Meatloaf and Jim Steinman, may you rest forever in piece. We will enjoy this master piece until the end.
Steinman was the Vagner of rock n roll, Meat Loaf was the marmite of rock n roll.
May they both Rock In Peace.
Loved this since the eighties.
One of the best albums evvvvver !! Timeless classic ! RIP Meatloaf 🎸🎸

Like many others I’m listening again to one of the greatest albums of all time. Thank you Meat Loaf, you won’t be forgotten 😥
I can't believe Meat Loaf is gone from this world. I sit here crying, Listening to his music that has touched my very soul so often, and thinking: maybe just maybe, he actually finally did just "break out of his body and fly away, like a bat out of hell".
But I wish his body could have said Heaven Can Wait.
Like a bat out of hell!
I am ok with it.i celebrate his life and his works.pure magic.masterpieces.who can over do or surpass this lp ? That is what I think about.like who can forget Mozart? The same thing.mozart died what 300 years ago,and orchestra s still play his music.a crazy reality.i hope in 300 years people still have the technology to still listen to all this works of art.crazy but very true.heavy thinking😂😁🙏👍💖🌟💡
Perfectly stated. A piece of all of us that grew up with Meat Loaf lost a small piece of our souls when he died.

Graduated 1981 listening to this albums in our hot rods. The good old days, I’d go back to that time in a heart beat. I feel sorry for people who didn’t grow up back then. It was the best times.
Great times. Reckless youth having the freedom to be wild. No cameras to capture our foolishness. 😆
I really think I was born in the wrong time as I'm an 2005 baby but these songs are just incredible I'd have loved to have been brought in 1980s USA (I'm from the UK)
yes that was realy a nice time
yes it was the BEST OF TIMES......so awesome back then....I graduated in 82
Me too, graduated in 83 but hung out w/class of 80 lots of keggers to attend and all that great music from the 70's and early 80's. Excellent time to raise hell. Not too many killings and dumb shit just hard partying. Few killed in car wrecks...NW Montana was a great place to be a kid in the late 70's
I am 26 years old and addicted to the old music. 5 hours of listening this and I’m still not getting enough from it

This was part of the soundtrack to my childhood. RIP big guy.

❤🌠 (And thanks to Bill the Bus Driver wherever he may be!) XXX
great story man! I'm from another generartion but I had similar stories with my friends with other bands. Loved your story with this album.
That's brilliant! I was so obsessed with this album beyond words.
What a fantastic bus driver and cool kids. I would of loved to ride that bus.
Beautiful!!
Great story!
Most fun and brilliant Rock Opera ever. This album has been a favorite my whole life. Rest In Peace and thank you💔
The music of my youth and throughout my life. Loved this album since it was released when I was 13. Loved all his work and always will. Lucky enough to see him live 5 times. What a voice and what a performer. You will always live on through your music, Big Man. RIP Meatloaf, always missed but always remembered and treasured.
RIP Meatloaf. Put this album on right after hearing the news. The memories are flooding back. Thank you!

Wonderful that someone gifted it to you
This album was my life when I was 16-17 years old.
That's very cool!!
Rest in Peace MeatLoaf, once a Bat Out of Hell, but forever a Rock Legend!!
Thank you Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman for giving me the soundtrack of my youth. I can remember where i was and what I was doing when all these songs hit. RIP Meatloaf! This is one of my favorite albums of all time! He sang with so much emotion! I love his music!
Well said, he was and iconic legend voice of an angel! 😢
Todd Rundgren was right that it sounded like a parody of Springsteen's 'Born to Run'. Good though.
AMEN...

He and Jim Steinman. Meant to be.

This album is how I learned to sing. I sang it over and over and over until I could hit every note. Fucking awesome! 💖✌️💖✊💖
It's funny no matter how old I get, when this album starts, I'm 16 again in my first car 8 track blasting. driving somewhere. All the songs have a story the ones that Jim made and the ones that you made. Thank you, Meat and Jim,
What a great entertainer all these years later at 13 years old listening on a tape deck on our school bus absolutely amazing 👏 👌
I'm 40 and love this album
We are the same age but I don´t think as I was 4 this music were played in the still grey country that Spain was at that time. But as I grew up and the 90´s came everything had changed in my country, since a few years earlier, and Bad Out of Hell II was released. Now, "I´d do anything for love..." is one of my favourite ever. A masterpiece.
I'm 72 and it's still my favorite album. I listen regularly.
It was my neighbors dad. Randy. I'll never forget him. I used to hear him cranking meatloaf. We jammed together.
wow john, I just loved your words.
Still one of mt favorite albums of all time. I bought it in 77. My youngest daughter listens to it now. I'm 63, she is 34 😃 great music.
YEAH me to 63 and still the best album i bought in blood red
Honestly I'm 16 and can't stop listening to this album I know all the words to all the songs it's such an emotional but exciting at the same time
My 3 y/o granddaughter asks for battamahell as she goes to sleep
First album i ever got at 10 years old, i am 54 and still listen to it. This is not just an album, it is a masterpiece production.
RIP 😢

So many memories the man gave us. Growing up at 16 in 1978 and listening on the vo-tech bus to WACC. This album is timeless! Unfortunately none of us are timeless. So sad to hear of the passing of Meat Loaf. We grow up with these rock giant's on our cassette player, LPs and CDs. For some frantic reason we try to cling on to our youth and expect our hero's to be around for ever.

This is like an anthem for people like me who were 17 when it came out, who were glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife, and found paradise by the dashboard lights ('70 Gremlin). Thanks for the memories. Rest in Peace and thanks for the music that will live on.
