i think in northeast india there are two types of pickle right?? one with heated up oil and the other one with raw mustard oil.. eg. bamboo shoots pickle... where shoots were uncooked and mustard oil unheated but..chopped up to small pieces but preserved in jar under the sun it does take time but that pickle is my favorite... could you do that recipe for me please nambie.... mitela
Looks great! I need to try this. I think I might make it with white-tailed deer meet. Have you made this with dried meat or dried fish before, instead of the boiled?
Thank you. You can definitely try it, In the Northeast India, unlike the rest of India, hunting is allowed for food purpose and people do preserve deer meat by smoking or through pickling, I have never tried it though. Yes, my mom has made pickle with dried beef and pork, you need to soak it in hot water for a while and pound it to separate the strands of meat and make pickle out of it. The process is slightly different.
Thanks for the tips on how to make it. If I make it into a video, I will credit you (of course). (I live in Canada, so outside most urban areas hunting is allowed under license.)
You can try, if no one touches it it will last for a month, but like you said, within a week of making the pickle it was half over. Every time I walked in to the kitchen, I would take one spoonful and eat.
