I think the new Mallory Knox is so great. Without Mikey some people thought Mallory knox was gonna die, but isn't true, they went ahead and the new songs are great! they aren't the same as when Mallory Knox started but even the same Mallory Knox changed over the years.
Ayle Schatz I agree. I’m an absolute fanboy of Mallory Knox but without Mikey as lead vocalist the band feels like its missing what made it special. This is an unpopular opinion it seems from reading other fans comments, but Sam just isn’t cut-out for lead vocalist. Either the band needs to get Mikey back or recruit a new lead vocalist. I listen to Mallory Knox all the time in my car and on my iPod but the last two singles; this one and black holes are really weak songs, in fact probably my least favourite songs from the band; I didn’t even listen to this song all the way through as I lost interest about a minute in, it feels like it’s missing something for it to be as good as their other stuff. This is shown through, going off Apple Music, those two singles made by the band, the first without mikey,, being not received all to well by the wider fan base. Since Mikey has left, I’ve pretty much lost interest in their newer stuff and instead will always cherish the stellar songs in Asymmetry and Signals, those albums are what made the band great and since then (with the exception of ‘Sugar’) they haven’t been able to replicate the same level of standard in previous albums, which is an awful shame.

I think Black Holes as a leading single was a poor choice and didn’t really wow me either, however returning to that song after hearing this tune, I’m getting the sound and the context a bit more and I think it’s all pretty exciting. I don’t think you can say they ‘need’ to do this or that or whatever because I still think they are hammering out some really quality pop-rock tunes in spite of people obviously wary of them without their original singer. I think this is a great, catchy song, full of great sections and big hooks. The guitar lines are wicked and the arrangement is spot on. If this was a brand new band, people would be far less critical and would probably be all over it. Sams vocal performance is good, up there with most singers of bands at their level. The thing is Mikey is and was an exceptional, gifted singer, but he didn’t want to don’t anymore. What are you going to do? Carry on or call it a day? Bottom line, after this tune I’m excited for a bit more, which I haven’t been since asymmetry.
