Rich, this is still the best, most beautiful video you've ever produced. I still come back and view it from time to time, just for the entertainment value, 6 years later. Not something that can be said for 99% of RC aircraft related content. Truly brilliant! Hope to see ya in Florida, Cheers!
One of my favorite planes. Flew mine today but not as well as you. But made a couple of mods and she’s quick. Good to see Horizon have parts in stock as well. Good work 👍🏾
Its interesting to see that Horizon is now selling FMS products. I had one of these Red Tails several years ago and it flew really nice. Wish Horizon had not given up production of its Large Carbon Z T-28 and the Carbon Z Cub. Both great flying planes just needed a few upgrades and they could have been awesome.
Hi Rich (RC Informer) - do you have any performance upgrade innovation for this bird similar to what you proposed on the F4 Corsair? Is there a faster motor and ESC I can buy separately so this model comes alive (as your F4 has)? It seems there may not be enough room to connect serially two batteries in the P51. Can you provide some insight for the required parts? Many many thanks!
Very nice guy's, that is one of the best videos i've seen you guys put out there. Blending the American flag in behind the plane was very, very cool. Great stick work and Pete's one bad boy :) ✈
Nice video Rich.Ive had mine for almost 4 years and love it.Of course,I cant keep anything stock so I did some power plant changes and put the Eflite all metal retracts in.Also have a 4 speaker sound system installed. They are definitely a favorite to watch at the field.
how long does it take to learn to fly? My worry is crashing it and damaging it beyond repair while Im learning to fly it. Also you need the motor, controller and anyhing els? what is the cost of those ? thank you.
Great video. I acquired one from a garage sale unbuilt. However, it was missing parts. The fuselage plastic parts . That's not a problem i can get them 3d printed. The main problem is the wing tubes are missing. Horizon doesn't expect to see them till september. May i ask you to measure those tubes? diameter and the dihedral angle. TY
Quite fancied one, in the original video 4 years ago the guy said they were in the three to four hundred dollar range. I've just been and priced one up, the price set off at £408.41 (that's Pounds Stirling not Dollars) from the Horizon Hobby site and by the time everything had been added on it came to £533.80, that near enough $700. No thank you HH, it's a nice model and if it were still in the 300 to 400 dollar range or even just a little above I'd have had it; but the £700 range, I'll give it a miss.
That was me in the video & I was flying the plane in this shorter version of the video... Back then it was $459 now it is $499 as costs have gone up... the 1700mm P-47 back then was $399... that's where the 3 to 400 dollar range came from :)
Unfortunately HH want $700 from me here in the UK before they'll hand one over, nice model but not $700 nice. To be honest I'd much rather have the P47.
Hi Rich, Thought I viewed this video previously. It was 4 years ago. Flying awesome, as usual. One thing I noticed this time around was that the left inner gear door was almost hit by the wheel during retract. Might have made for a bad day if that had happened. Pete sure does a fine job with the video camera. :-)
such and awesome flier.. i have the Gunfighter of the Starmax Version, which is pretty much the same.. but i dont want to fly it its so beautiful to look at.
@@RCINFORMER ok. There's 3 versions of the plane. V1 and v2 have 300kv Motor. V3 has 360kv motor. Wich motor is in yours ? I'm thinking the 360kv is in your redtail and the 300 might be in your Ferocious Frankie. But still after watching the video of your Ferocious Frankie mine doesn't fly near as good as yours. I'm just trying to get mine to preform like your redtail.
@@RCINFORMER I've reset the throttle calibration but haven't had a chance to fly it yet do to rain. Hopefully it will change the performance. It feels like it has more pull.
Wow, this pilot is skilled at flying these planes! Beautiful P-51.
That really was a brilliant show!
Unreal stuff RCI.

Hot P51 4Sure, I like flying the bigger R/C planes there're so easy to keep track of in the air.

Well for something that's electric it sounds really nice!

Can't wait to order mine, just wondering from who, Motion, FMS Direct or Horizion?? Hmmmm....
www.horizonhobby.com/p5-red-tail-pnp-1700mm-fmm041prt. Or FMSMODEL.COM
Why the music.?
I want to hear the P51 engine.

I re-branded the video.... Diamond Hobby is no longer around & Horizon Hobby now sells the airplane:)
That is due to the spiralling slip stream of the propwash over the doors. The spiraling air helps one door open & tries to close the other:)
You guys do SUCH good work.
Thanks for watching! We always set the bar high, put in 200% effort to see what we can get out of it:)

I want to get the FMS 1700 P51 and detail it to the max , but I'm not going to fly it. Do i have to buy a controller to operate the landing gear ?
No, but if you want to extend the gear you will need to connect the gear to a servo tester with a battery.
You can probably borrow one when you want lower or raise the gear:)
@@RCINFORMER Thanks for the info, how much does a controller cost?
@@ronhellengreen5968 you can get a cheap one on Amazon for $5 ... you will need a 4.8 volt battery pack. Normally 4 AA battery's in a pack

Hello, if I ever purchase an RC Aircraft. It will be this one.
But it will be: B6-Y
