In my opinion, the most important feature of a roadside stand is the ability to pay at the stand. Mine is cash only and it is doing great! People love the self-serve feature! I bought a small pay box at Home Depot, works great!
Great video Dan. We have one of Norm's boxes and they are great! we plan on incorpoating them into our stands. Very well made!
Well Dan it’s great to see that you’re helping out a small business that will eventually get bigger than it is now 👍😮😊❤
Really looking forward to seeing your new stand design. It’s fun to see how everybody does things differently
If you wanna see how my new stand is gonna look, go down to the end of your driveway! LOL
It’s definitely the Channel Stickers holding the top rail together! 😊😂😂
LOL...yes indeed! Those have held it together through many storms! hahaha
As usual I guess wrong😂🤣. On to the pay box I agree, it’s a nice box, Norm put a lot of thought into the design such as the angled money tray👏🏻.
Keeping it full at all times
On a side not i lost the damn key for my pay box. Wont mention how ive been getting the money out😂
Good morning woodhounds, I’m going to construct a roadside stand this winter and will be ordering one of those boxes. Very nice.
Good points! Thanks for sharing
As a customer, the ingredients of a stand I notice is important t.
I need room to pull off the road.
It is good if I pass the location often. I may not stop the first time I see the wood stand.
I will be a return customer if you provide fire start with each bundle.
That is a very slick paybox. Norm, excellent creation! I was laughing at quarters had that happen many times and was such a pain.
hi most important thing mat be wood. lots of deer here but not that tame , great looking box well made , best to all , john
I love the honor box and this was one thing that i was wondering about for a stand if i were to put one up. Thanks norm!!!
good afternoon friends,
A key component for me would be Keeping it full and having a cash box and possibly an electronic form of payment as an option.
Nice pay boxes!! Beautiful deer!!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Good pull in for the customer vehicle and dry place to stand loading
Quality, clean, straight, dry wood
Convenience for both parties
A pamper proof secure money Jar! LOL Ease of getting to the wood for customers.🤙
Position, and the way it’s built! Look at Adams in Hometown Acres!, Len (Devon 🇬🇧)
The person filling it. They don’t fill theirselves!🤣 Then there’s the cash box 😁
Dan the man 👍🇺🇸
The lock box for payment is the most important part of the roadside stand.
Just a guess
Keeping it full.
Choice of Quantity!
That is Hilarious, I commented before to exposed the secret. I meant to say Tamper Proof. 🤙
Easy access or accessibility.
Hey Dan, What size are your bays for your loose stacks (width x height)?
If I had to guesstimate, I'd say it looks to be 4ft by 1ft by 18in deep which is about 5-6cu ft depending on how tight it's stacked. 🧐
The bins are approx. 18" wide by 42" high....and they only reason it came out to those measurements is because when I put the pallets down for the base that is what came when dividing it equally up...lol
Key component is seasoned firewood!!! Standing dead is not seasoned!!!!😂😂
Them damn deer love you ❤
Sign, lights paying online👍🏼🇺🇸
1. Location, location and location.
2.Very visible and accessible stand.
3. Product.
4. Secure Pay Box.
Has to be the cash box
Night time lighting
Cash box
Obviously the most important feature of a roadside firewood stand is the firewood. Like… it has to always be in there.
A laser light show is a close second. It should go off every time someone slips in a few extra bucks. 🧐
the firewood to put in it
Ring door bell camara, cash box, venmo /cash app codes, location, and good seasoned DRY wood.
Hey Dan how much wood would you say you could get into one of them baskets about half a wreck a wreck maybe the three what are the 300 rack can get a rick in the other 275 or half a wreck does
Location is the most important feature.
The lesson i learned the tough way is empty your money box every day. No matter how secure your box is, if they want it bad enough they will get in.
can you give me a link were you bout that garage tent
The shelter is a ShelterLogic 'Shed in a Box'...I'm not sure they make this exact one anymore but you can find them at various farm supply stores if you search online.
Nails and pallets
WOOD.
Accessible Accessible
How often do people take wood and not pay?
Bill
Not very often...have only had a few times that people didn't pay full amount...they took 2 bundles but paid for 1.
Wow Dan you got some deer there hungry and not afaid of tractor i see
Nope they're not too afraid of anything, tractors, chainsaws, and even me walking right up to them...lol
Is there an electronic payment method for customers to pay via their phone ?
signage
Nice seeing the deer in the wood yard. Being a Wisconsin farm boy, are you a hunter?
The most important thing about a roadside stand is keeping it full of wood. No wood no money!!
security cameras
Cash box and video camera..
Cash box and camera
Key component. Kid that fills it and saves the money for kid things
SECURITY! Cameras! And keeping check of your stand almost daily. Your area may be different than mine but you can’t TRUST ANYBODY anymore. The honor system is dead!!
Place for the spandoolax unless its all about charity.
Customers
Those deer were not even spooked by you.
Collecting money
Credit card reader because no one has cash on them anymore. Lol or maybe a QR code to pay using some app.
You need to have a place for people to put their cash in a safe location. A place where nobody can break into.
Keep it filled up with dry wood.
0:45 surveillance cameras 😏😏
Easy location to maintain🪵 and most profit
I would have to say the most important thing is location. I know for me, one of the main reasons I set mine up was the location. I'm 2 minutes from a camping spot in one direction and 2 minutes from a gas station that doesn't sell firewood in the opposite direction. Thanks for posting.
