That's what I was thinking. Most cats have a very sensible reason to not want to get wet. A thick coat of fine hairs would feel like wearing a shag carpet drenched in honey. The surface tension would seriously hamper a cat's dexterous abilities and fine tuned senses which is their primary mode of dominance.

Dyan Shane oh mine gets in the tub before I do. You take her to the park after she’s been to the vets because she walks on a leash with a harness or she sits happily in her pushchair proving you don’t try and close it because (1) she’ll scream blue murder and (2) she just opens it anyway. She hates being locked in anyway and always lets herself out. First thing she does jumps straight into the pond. First time she ever did it was the second time she was actually allowed outside after her first lot of injections when she was a kitten. She climbed up the wall of our house three stories up, through the open restroom window and all you heard was splash. Ran in the house upstairs to the restroom (my husband at the time had just ran a bath and she’d been trying to get in there while it was running but hadn’t taught herself how to open doors at this point because she was still to small to reach them!) opened the door and she’s in the tub doing the doggie paddle in all directions. I had to climb into get her because it wasn’t a normal sized tub, everytime I tried to get her to come to me so I could grab her she’d get just within reaching distance then turn around and swim the other way. I could have killed her that night because she nearly gave me heart attack because she’d climbed on the roof first then backdown the wall straight into the open window. I’ve got loads of photos and videos of her in the tub or pond or anywhere she finds water including that first time I thought it was funny because she was only a few weeks old and I’d never seen a cat actually climb up a wall like spider-man. That’s what she does to get in and out if I’m not home climbs out the windows and up and down the walls. All the neighbours are shocked by what she does, even in the pool she’ll jump in and start swimming around like she owns it. I’ve just given up you can’t have a peaceful bath without her joining you so I just soak while she plays around then try not getting my neck broken when I use the shower to rinse myself off. 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣

That’s the hardest part because you’ll move to a place where she’s got enough room to play at the bottom near your feet and she’ll still chuck herself all over. You should see her face if it’s a bath and when you’ve finished and pull the plug out she tries stopping the water from going down the plug hole then gets really pissed off at you for ruining her playtime! I’ve got so many photos and videos of her especially her looking pissed because the waters gone! My friends think they’re hilarious just as much as she is as well. If we go to the beach she’ll play in the sea. If she sees any type of water or either hears or thinks you’re turning the tap on she’s there that fast without you realising it in the beginning now I know to expect her faster than concord she use to scare the living daylights out of me or anyone else who was either washing their hands, getting a drink or having a bath or shower!?! We were taking a flight overseas once, and the person at O'Hare airport in Chicago gave us the wrong direction to our gate. We wound up on the opposite side of the airport and ran down the terminal as fast as possible to make the flight to Germany. We got to the ticket counter exhausted, and I waved my ticket at the German attendant while frantic and huffing and catching my breath. He looked at me with this total deadpan expression and in a German accent said, "I don't know why you are running. You are not going anywhere." The flight as delayed. I laughed my ass off.
There's a few videos out there of Sphinxes enjoying a bath, I wonder if something in their brains recognize that bathing regularly is helpful and thus they don't run away or yowl when it's bathtime.
One of my cats is a Turkish Van, sometimes called the Turkish Swimming Cat. They're big, fluffy cats with pretty long fur but many of them seem to love water and even love swimming, hence the nickname.
Fun fact: most cats don't hate water. They just don't like it when they are in water against their will. It's like how you wouldn't like it if someone pushes you in water.
....It's because since there fur isn't as waterproof as dogs the fur feels heavy and wet which they really don't like.Since the cat from the video barley has any hair it helps to make him enjoy water

Sphinx cats actually need to be bathed about once a week-they get a build up on their skin that is normally absorbed by fur of other breeds

@lazyviewer actually,the only reason cats don't like water is because they dislike the feeling of their fur being heavy when wet(being weigh down).So I'm assuming this kitty likes water cause he has no hair,so it doesn't bother him :)
@lazyviewer oh sorry then!i didnt focus on that part because its pretty natural for both humans and animals to prefer warm water,except for some species (mostly wild animals) ofcourse.I know huskies are the most comfortable with cold weather and water but i think home pets should be washed in warm water so they dont catch a cold ,i dont have much info about this topic but i just wanted to reply so ye
