Wow, in a few months this video will be a year old. Time flies...and so do police boxes. I wanted to say a big thank you to all the positive feedback I've been getting from this video. They really encourage me to make more and more experiments. I never thought I'd ever be able to make a video of a TARDIS and a supernova together a long time ago but here we are. Again, thank you so much for all the nice feedback. I should also address the comments I have been seeing lately about how lore inaccurate this animation is. I'm very grateful that many comments have said the animation still looks good but I know you're concerned that I'm misrepresenting how a TARDIS works. Essentially, a TARDIS wouldn't be in any danger nor struggle against a supernova. It would just fly by it with zero issues. I am aware of this. I have fond memories watching episodes like The Satan Pit where the TARDIS is seen towing a ship away from a black hole like the black hole didn't exist. Or in The Family of Blood where the TARDIS is flying close to a collapsing galaxy so The Doctor could throw Mother of Mine into the Event Horizon. Once again, the TARDIS was not phased by this. The Doctor even recounts throwing the TARDIS Manual into a supernova in Amy's Choice because he "disagreed with it". We even saw recently in Resolution with The Doctor disposing of a Dalek in the same way. Remind me not to get on The Doctor's bad side. So, I am aware that in this situation I animated, a TARDIS wouldn't even be phased at all. This is why I added that the TARDIS at the time was dealing with power and other technical issues that were not caused by the supernova but just had bad timing. This is shown in the animation with the sign and window lights even struggling to stay lit and the TARDIS engines weren't sounding their best. The TARDIS in this scenario wasn't operating at the bare minimum to even dematerialize nor escape the pull of the supernova. I was worried that these technical issues shown in the video were going to be linked to the Supernova so I had placed a small disclaimer in the description of the video stating the technical difficulties are not caused by the supernova. They just made the supernova an issue. This disclaimer has been in the description since the video was uploaded. I have since expanded on it hoping it might explain the scenario better. Even with this disclaimer, the description also states that I'm aware the video may also be lore inaccurate because in the end, it was a fun video to make.
I assume you weren't going for a physically accurate supernova, but as I haven't heard anyone comment on it I thought I'd comment on it. Mind you, this is not a critique aimed at you, merely an attempt to prevent people from taking having an inaccurate picture of how things actually happen. Real supernovae of course look nothing like this one-for one, you wouldn't really be able to see that the star is about to go supernova before it actually exploded. Sure, you'd be able to detect an extremely high-energy pulse of neutrinos, but you can't actually see that. All you would see on the surface would be the star looking relatively normal one second, and then suddenly exploding. Interestingly enough, it would not reach maximum brightness until well after it exploded. The time scale is another thing to note. The outer edges of the star would be flung out at on the order of ten thousand kilometres per second, but the types of giant stars that produce supernovae have radii of tens or hundreds of millions of kilometres. In a real case, it would take at least fifteen minutes from the star actually exploding to is remnant reaching twice of its original radius. In any case, any of those details would make it very difficult to actually make the video look interesting. Nice work.
This just appeared in my recommended and man, I love it! The struggled flight to hold position/escape (I know you put "not to get pulled in" in the description, but they could be trying to analyse it couldn't they :P) is brilliantly animated imo, wobbling just the right amount there. And the struggling engines sound fab, one of my favourite sound effects tbh.
I'm really glad you love it. You can tell I just wanted to make a TARDIS going against a star going supernova since I thought it was cool concept that I just had to animate. Though since a star wouldn't normally pose any threat to the TARDIS, I had to make the TARDIS weaker in the situation by giving her power issues. I'm glad you like the sounds to. Thank you for your kind words!
I can only imagine the Doctor running around the central control panel, pushing buttons, pulling levers, flipping switches, looking at the sensor readings on the monitors, all while screaming "Oh no, no you don't! Come on, baby, we've been through worse! We are not going to die here!" 🙂
XD. I'm imagining it now. It would be awkward if this was the end considering the TARDIS on a regular day wouldn't even be phased by a supernova. Maybe this is the TARDIS getting revenge on The Doctor for throwing her manual into another supernova.
"I hadn't finished my bingo card yet and, already, I have checked off 'Super Nova' as the latest cosmic calamity. I get 'nebula crossing' next and I'm sure I'll win a free toaster with my latest strategy."
Thank you! I'm really happy you like it. I honestly didn't think I would be able to make anything like this back in the past. If only I started using Blender sooner.
I can just picture The Doctor inside yelling "Why are you doing this to me now?!" while the companion is being thrown around the console room. Neat animation ❤
"I knew it! One wrong turn in the universe and you're hanging on like a pussy from a willow tree!!! Get it? Cat, Willow Tree! It's a bit of levity during a crisis. Hang on, this isn't a crisis! @@LMC97 I completed it hundreds of times, but if you’re ever looking for inspiration for something to design, you could always use Destiny of the Doctors as a basic template to improve upon, it has maps of the Tardis, the masters Tardis and the monster chambers, the interiors are primitive by today’s standards but was still impressive to move about back in the day. It has it’s own version of the theme, specially recorded scenes with Anthony Ainley as the Master, and back story by Terrance Dicks.
@@nazarostrovsky_ Thank you! I'm glad you like my little animation. It was a small concept of my custom TARDIS with low power going against a supernova. I liked the idea so much that I just had to make an animation for it.
The window material is setup with various nodes with a MixRGB node controlling when the lights are on and off. It's setup so that when the value of the MixRGB node is set to 0, the window lights are off and when the value is set to 1, the window lights are lit to the maximum brightness I set it as. It's the same way the top signs are also lit. So essentially, one value is controlling the lights. To make them rapidly flash, I set a Key Frame on that value, I went into the Graph Editor and added a Noise Modifier to that value. What the modifier does is constantly changing that value none stop throughout the timeline. The modifier even allows me to change how much the value fluctuates and fast it does this. So using this, I was able to make the windows constantly dim on and off to make it seem the TARDIS was having power issues. I hope this makes sense.
As cool As this animation is the lore but in me is saying this would Never happen the Tardis can handle Supernovas like they are nothing, “Gravity smavity my people practically invented black holes”-the doctor

Damn
It’s really cool! I love the way the tardis moves and sounds! Very incredible render!
Thank you very much! I'm glad how it turned out.
It’s good because it’s not the dematerialization sounds but a struggle flight sounds
Haha yes
@@starplatinum8364 I'm glad you like it. It is indeed the mid flight sound effect but with a few distortions on the volume and pitch.
This is what I'm most accurate ones I've seen,
The doors open inward, the TARDIS noise sounds like it to the show, but broken, it's just amazing
I'm glad you like it!

this is so sad, but really weel made!
Oh no looks the doctor has caught in the gravitational pull!
I'm sure this will turn out okay.
@@LMC97 I know I guess I’m a doctor who fan anyway meet some of my friends TheAmazingSpideyTubeChannel, Aladdin Dragonson, Alzaku Katflame and more!😁
It's sounds like the TARDIS is crying
She is not that happy about her current situation.

Would be a shame if he threw the manual in there
