You're so beautiful I forgot what you were reacting to LOL Jethro Tull is one of the top five greatest rock bands of all time that has the flute cornered in the Rock genre. Until next time stay well and popping for fresh
At the time of this concert, Mr Anderson had only been playing flute for maybe 3 years... People are amazed at how well he plays. But most don't realize how quickly he got that good. And he did it with no formal lessons...
This is the Benefit-Era band playing a brand new song that would appear on the next album, Aqualung. The lyrics weren't even finalized, the lyrics on the studio version are quite different.
Amazing Ian Anderson had only played flute for 2-3 years at this point. He's has to be nowadays one of the best flute players in history. He was also a brilliant vocalist for about 14 years, then...........
Wonderful to see someone from a younger generation giving Jethro Tull a listen. They have SO many great tunes. For something soft and romantic try Wonderin Aloud. And for something full of "Englishness" try Songs From the Wood. Thanks for the reaction.
Absolute Tull classic. Great and unique spooky-somnolent tone at the start of the song, which is a spitting image of the studio version. It just shows how much the band must have practised.
Ian gave all he had in front off the bigest rockordince EVER on the Ill of wight. (500.000 people)in 1972. You have a charming english acent.Bedst from Denmark
I was at the introductory show for Aqualung in early 70s and have been to every concert I could get to since then. Their stage show is so wild you have to pay attention to the stage as well. They come out and do a medly of about 6 songs with very intricate rhythms and slide in and out of each for about 10min. Absolutely amazing musicians. Bought my first CD player so I could listen to Thick as a Brick so I didnt have to change sides on the album. I have probably 60hrs of Tull on CD currently. My very fave group.
In these early days for Jethro Tull, the aim, especially coming from Ian Anderson (singer/flute player), was to be outrageous, humorous and stretch the boundaries of normal musical/social acceptance. I doubt as a fine young Indian woman you would've liked the genital rubbing and grunting in the flute solo, but all these aspects of an imagined engaging live performance were constantly addressed and re-addressed by the band, and improved on each tour to reach the point of elite standard, brilliant musical entertainment that is still recognised to this day. Ian Anderson is recognised as one of the premier flute players in the world.. luv ya JT
I love this band there's no one like them and this song is amazing I've had it when I was young on an album so many great songs it's hard to pick a favorite. Creative geniuses.... all the musician have immense talent ..... Whenever I go to a store or restaurant and they're playing crappy music I asked them to please put on some Jethro Tull ❤️🧡❤️
Great to see you ! Thank you Metal folk with a flute lol 😝 He also was one of Bruce Dickinsons of Iron Maiden biggest stage performing influences His stage presence and irreverence are legendary ! See you next song
Also a huge influence on Rush and their dedication to making serious, entertaining music while at the same time not taking themselves too seriously. Tull's influence is IMO highly underrated. One of the most outstanding bands in modern music history.
Diggin' your soulful, head nodding reaction/appreciation for Ian's virtuosity, creativity, self-depreciating humor and entertaining movement✨ (Please excuse crotch moment, he didn't know a young lady from Nepal would be watching.) And THANK YOU for allowing tune to flow without stoping and starting! ~ JaY
AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC CLASSIC ROCK SONG WHICH COMES OF OF TULL'S 71 MULTI PLATINUM GEM ALBUM ( AQUALUNG ) :) HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS AND LISTEN TO THAT! THE ORIGINAL STUDIO VERSION :)
These were the original lyrics... they were "toned down" for the release to avoid offending religious people.... yet he still used the original lyrics on every live performance...
@@richardctaylor79 Interesting, I had no idea. From what I can find, live versions after the release of "Aqualung" use the updated lyric. I didn't pay attention, but there are several more lyric changes. During the Aqualung show he was standing on one leg most of the show and his flute was often spinning above his head. He would just magically reach up without looking and pluck it out of the air.
I MUCH prefer the studio version, one of my all time favorite songs. Much of the work with the flute on Ian's live performances is corny and indulgent.
The song seems blasphemous but it is actually a critique of various Christian religions where the leaders of these religions make up rules and dogmas arbitrarily
@@heavnnnsent Exactly, you agree with me. I went to many concerts in this era, and had many bootleg records of these concerts as well. They all had these BS aimless, repetitive, and almost always the same, flut solos. I hated them, and after the first time, the pretend sneeze into the flute is boring too.
You're cute. However, you speak rapidly, and with your Nepalese accent, you're sometimes hard to understand. If it wouldn't affect your charm and enthusiasm, you may want to speak just a bit slower, and try to enunciate more clearly.
I'm sure this lovely woman jotted down everything you said and ....next time you see her she will be enunciated each were just like you would like her to

That's his story and he sticks to it. I wonder.
He’d only been playing for 6 months when they recorded their first album.

He had only started playing the flute a couple of years before, the instrument was meant for him, obviously.
My God! To me seeing that black and red checkered BATHROBE again was a symbol of my favorite Tull era!

If nowadays rock music pinnacle is Måneskin :-(, they’re right to listen to the classics!
Please don't forget "Thick as a Brick"

Such a great band, especially live.
Enough live performances to choose from on UA-cam.
Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, when I listen to TULL, my neighbors do Too 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
Yeah. This is good. The best song ever.
Oh yeah! I like the way you made everyone giggle
Of course
Ian Anderson the crazy Gentleman :D

another great british band .
Welcome to mr. Anderson. Let's just they broke the mold when they created him. Endlessly talented and endlessly entertaining.

Peter Garrett of Midnight Oil was also influenced by Tull.

1:48 Interesting that he changed the lyric from "if that's all that you can see" to "which is all that you can see" - changes the meaning quite a bit.

"Gee, I think he really means it !"
So funny -- you kept saying "My God!", which IS the name of the song! So I think you got the message, right?
Thank you!
Without the lyrics you are missing most of it. My favorite Tull song, and I was listening to this album in the early 70's.
I was 8 years old when I concluded that I would never be as cool as Ian Anderson.
DID YOU HEAR YOURSELF??? :) OH MY GOD, THE NAME OF THE SONG GIRLY! :) THAT'S MOST PEOPLES REACTION TOO SO
E viva quei anni li
So that's why the song is called "My God"😄
Anyone else notice that Lt Dan from Forest Gump bears a striking resemblance to Ian Anderson in this video?
The 1974/75 ian anderson looks even more like Lt Dan.
Absolutely in the movie Forrest Gump that's who he reminded me of..... Because of his long hair in the movie he looked just like Ian!
This live performance lacks the intention and continuity of the original album recording, which is a Tull masterpiece. I invite you to take a listen.
Different bass player on the recording . The Benefit / Aqualung transition song. IT really lacks nothing but reveals more...
Yup, different, but not inferior!
You should do a Thick as a Brick listen!
Live at Madison Square Garden
Oh, yes. MSG was good, but the full album version has to be heard, as well.
Saw this song live twice
☮️💙💙💙Ian Anderson!
Grande ian
✌️
Ian Anderson one mam show.
You keep saying my God..yes your seeing God..in the music wold..it like seeing Rush..there's so much talent on that stage..you feel your not worthy..
You have an uncanny natural talent for TALKING OVER THE BEST PARTS...
(AFTER!!!) "In The Beginning" Humans made "gods" in his image and likeness...
"Holy" Bible. Cap. 1.
1969...
During the Aqualung show he was standing on one leg most of the show and his flute was often spinning above his head. He would just magically reach up without looking and pluck it out of the air.
You understood "my god": you SAID at 5;33: "My g...!"
Teacher
I MUCH prefer the studio version, one of my all time favorite songs. Much of the work with the flute on Ian's live performances is corny and indulgent.
This song is all about how organized religion is corrupt
The song seems blasphemous but it is actually a critique of various Christian religions where the leaders of these religions make up rules and dogmas arbitrarily
she is a fox
А что она делает??
Lunga vita a grrt
Lunga vita a getro tull
Why do people do these silly live versions? All that huffing and puffing flute going nowhere ... listen to the album version - that is the real song.
Yes he's playing with sounds here and the studio version is what people should really listen to first

As with most live versions it was terrible. Unless specifically requested by many it is never worth showing a live video from anyone
So true for most live bands but not for Jethro Tull. This is not the studio version .... But this version is still wondrous and majestic.
I love you
