Thanks for posting this. First time I've seen this in one continuous video. I used to live just 200 metres from the tower. Required a 35 dB attenuator in my TV aerial lead.

@@ttf2011 I tried, but without a really good aerial the ghosting was terrible.

It's interesting seeing what remained of the palace. It' a shame that it's built over part of the old palace but when. you go there it makes you realise how large it was (the footprint of the palace was even larger when it was in Hyde park, although in Penge Common, the palace had a larger volume ar 30.32).
The square water tower is still there when this was taken which powered the water flumes/rides at 30.32.
At 32.29 you can see the fountains are still there, along with the central walkway.
At 38.17 you can see the grand victorian villas that were sadly demolished to build rather horrible flats.
You can also see Rockhills, the victorian villa where the designer of the palace, Joseph Paxton lived. This too was sadly demolished.
4.30 you can see a very small part of the part of the palace that survived the fire but was burnt down by moro…i mean arsonists, in around 1956. This linked up with the lower station which still survives and has been restored (in the early 90s this too was derelict).

Amazing footage of British engineering skills at the time, it would probably have been built in China today & shipped over.
