It's actually cheaper to load your own, maybe not a whole lot cheaper (depending on many various factors of intended loads sought) but it is cheaper. 50 round of 115 fmj where I live is 30$. If I loaded it myself I could get 50 rounds for about 20$. Sure I have to spend time doing it, but we all have time. Some people just don't have that extra 10 bucks. Don't be obtuse.

Supplies have indeed gone up. But so has the price of factory loaded ammo… proportionately! So yes. It is still worth it. Not to mention the rewards of handloading go far beyond cost savings. Familiarity with your firearm, it’s ammunition, and what they can do together becomes next level when you hand load. I can also tell you that I’ve never had a single misfire, squib, or jam, since I began handloading over 15 years ago. That not only makes me safer, it gives me a confidence I could never have with factory loaded ammo, and it feels really good to be able to say that. The cost savings? Yes. It’s still there as it’s always been. But it’s still just a fringe benefit. -SLMC🔥

A squib load is a flawed cartridge, that by error of manufacturing (such as an insufficient gun powder charge), or damage prior to being fired (such as exposure to water), causes the bullet, upon being fired to have insufficient propulsion to exit the barrel of the firearm. These cartridges are loaded with 4.2 grains of Aliant unique. That’s not only enough to make it exit the barrel, but to fully send it at about 950 ft./s. -SLMC🔥

We have time to kill, so a single stage is fine. It also lets us do a rack of 50 and check them in the reloading tray at each step. You know, look underneath, confirm all the primers are set right, then after the powder is loaded, look over the top and confirm they are all the same level. I even use my single stage to swage primer pockets.
I keep my ammo in factory boxes. A wise man once told me dumping free ammo in a can like that can lead to damaged ammo. Also factory boxes make keeping ammo count easy instead of handfuls

There’s probably more that you could fit in if you had the patience to take the time and neatly pack them in; a lot of space is wasted in air gaps from dumping them in.
Bullets are one of those things that dont look like the amount they actually are. Like that ammo can honestly looks like it's holding like 300 rounds, but no it's 1200
Just a little tip for that handpress: Point that cartridge awa from you or wear glasses. Neighbor lost his eye doe to a nasty large rifle primer. Fucker detonated while seating and shot a chunk of metal in his eye. Primer company even tells you to wear eye protection, so trying to sue them for a faulty primer doesn't work. I also heard that shooting blind is kinda hard.
A good place place to start is a starter kit by RCBS or Hornady. They usually go on sale every Father’s Day and Christmas. Start by getting set up to load your favorite centerfire high powered rifle cartridge such as .308 or 30-06. It’s in these cartridges that you will definitely save the most money and usually notice a tremendous increase in accuracy (depending on what you’ve been buying). Liquid Alox gets firm when kept in a cool area, so per the instructions, you are supposed to immerse it in a cup of hot water before use so it’s runny as it should be for even distribution. It doesn’t take many times of doing this before the bottle will develop a little pooch, which is never a problem. I’m sorry but, no! I loaded probably 500 rounds of 9mm on a single stage once. I’ll never do that again, shortly after I bought a Dillon and it’s substantially more enjoyable to load high volume stuff like that now.
I use five Hornady progressive presses so I don't have to reset the dies I use a rock for my large belted magnums and a lee for my short brass Remington Peters 00 buck
I understand the practicality of reloading for range practice and even hunting rounds in a SHTF senatio but I wouldn't want to EDC reloads in any rifle or handgun designated for presonal pretection unless you were extremeley deprate and it was your last/ only option.
An old friend of mine decided i needed his progressive loading press more that he does so now i can load a round with every pull of the lever. Yeah, I'm gloating
I was with you until you said you use cci primers. I have had misfires with cci. Remington and winchester primers is all I use now, never had a misfire with them.

problem is polygonal rifling does not do well with lead unless you change the barrel it will load up and you will get a bang you don't want.
As a powder coater, I do prefer powder coated anything
