I listen to this song on my music system. I really can't understand how Mark Knofler created such brilliant tunes. No matter how many times you listen to it, your thirst keeps increasing in you. Fantastic musical tones selected. Thank you for such a masterpiece
Have you heard John Andersons' cover of this song? Mark played guitar on it, and I must say they put this version in the back seat. John's singing and Mark's playing are just superb together.
Wow, words cannot explain, how blown away I am that Mark Knopfler wrote this song oh, and I'm a big Dire Straits fan, I'm 43 years old, born in 1978 and I love a lot of rock and roll and Old School country music. This is my favorite John Anderson song, to find out that it was actually written and performed by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. Mark Knopfler as always, and always will be, in my opinion the best guitar player ever, and extremely underrated.
@@gocatsgo08 I just listen to sturgill simpsons cover. And you are correct, very good cover. I generally don't like covers. But I have to admit that John Anderson and Simpson blow this song away. And I've been told, which I have not fact checked it yet but possibly mark knopfler didn't even write this song.
@@jasoncooper4734 Mark wrote the song and sent a tape to John. John liked the song and ask Mark to play on the song.. I heard this straight from John in a interview.
Wow... growing up in the 90s, John Anderson freaking killed this. I was today years old (40) when I realized these dudes did it too. This is just a great damn song.
I honestly had no idea that Dire Straits of did the song originally I knew that I'd seen the name before that he had wrote the song but I thought he wrote it for John Anderson
Remember when I listened to this cassette, start to finish , over and over again? The cassette is gone now but please bury me with my CD. One to take to heaven with me. "Calling Elvis"? anyone? There was no video in 1991, only the one that plays in my mind.
I have the impression it's not his own experience, but he knows it from other artists, so he can sing with a sort of helicopter view. 'Cold, cold heart' is a famous song by Hank Williams.
Mark Knopfler you are one of the best guitarist in the world, A skill like that can only come from God, GOD BLESS YOU mark, knopfler and John Anderson, you did not desert me my guitars in arms
Augustin Tino ~hey, if you haven't heard the album he did with Chet Atkins, you will be in for the magic that happens when two guys get together, that play like they emerged from their momma's womb with six-strings in hand. Cheers PS I've had the pleasure of seeing him play live three times. And more amazing each and every time
I'd be honored if some Mark Knopfler & Sting fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of ON EVERY STREET and ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK on my YT channel in tribute to these 2 songwriting geniuses from the North of England. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and RESPECT to the legends.
Knopfler inspired me to learn guitar as his sound is very captivating and I can still listen to him everyday and maybe all day. I wouldn't say he is the greatest guitarist ever though. I think that title has to go to Hendrix. Hendrix I couldn't listen to all day however. There is a difference between good sound and technical ability.
Women can be devastating for good men... Bless the souls that have found the right-one for each other. On my side still hoping for the best. But sorry love, Dire Straits have my heart for ever.
+Luka Kočevar Ya got that right !! After 42 years I am getting out to try and find Ms Right . Some one who loves a romantic and the things that go with it . Good luck finding the right one . Until then we will enjoy music .
Согласен, песня-просто великолепная. И незаслуженно обделённая вниманием, оставшаяся как бы в тени более забойных композиций альбома "On every street"...
I know the song (Seminole Wind) well. It's outstanding. I understand what you mean when you say you could swear Marks there. Such great musicianship!!!
I heard the John Anderson version of this that I’d heard for years as a kid in the 90’s listening to almost exclusively Country, on the radio this morning and the DJ said that Mark Knopfler wrote it, and I said no wonder it’s an awesome song. I’m glad I learned that Mark wrote it, and that I found Dire Straits version here on UA-cam.
It always seems/appears that every note is conceived, pondered and then executed with such deliverance as if it's in it's own right. So right so deft so beautiful, so just so, and then played ensemble so meaningful and beautiful
Kattza thanks for this song brings back memories of old times my friend. I was 6years of age when started listening to dire straits. Now I'm 52 year's old. I will go to my grave listening to music of dire straits. Your absolutely a genius my friend. Keep bringing the music. For the likes of me and the younger generation. Thanks my friend an god bless you
One of Knopfler's lesser known tracks which emerged in 1990 with the NottingHillbillies with a nod to deep rooted country vibes and the late JJ Cale. Great track, thanks for uploading.
I love him! (as a guitar player, or songwriter, he is really good) Wish I could have seen him and Bob Dylan, my friend sent me a T-shirt from the concert ! Really treasuring my MySpace friends who are all gone now because there is no old MySpace.

Just brilliant. One of the all time greatest guitarists and no one in the history of popular music has superseded him as a songwriter.
Have to put American Hall of Fame singer/ songwriter right up there with him.
Jeff Porcaro laying down a simple but perfectly sticky groove… Great DS song that doesn’t get enough play. Thanks for posting.
When thisalbum was released, many wanted to see knoplefr& porcaro live.
I could listen to this song non-stop❤️
The sounds that come out of his guitar just seem impossible to think of, nevermind play. It's just like the guitar has a mind of it's own, brilliant
