The CGI may have aged like milk, but I love this movie, It's probably the most underrated gem you can find. I love it's method of story telling and the characters are all great fun. Also, that "narative time traveling" you're talking about is called "Rashomon"-Style on TV Tropes.
They made the most of their CGI budget, and it perfectly fits the tone of the movie IMO. Then again, I think I have a higher tolerance for bad CGI than most people.

Wobots and Hoodwinked are two of Blue Yonder's only animated productions that one is a straight to video Christmas special while the other is their only theatrically released movie, while Wobots was by Live Bait and Hoodwinked was by Kanbar
I adore this movie, it was my childhood. I do agree the animation is a bit sore on the eyes but everything else is priceless and amazing. I wish this movie got the Megamind treatment of “underrated but then slowly being brought more attention to” but ig since it’s not the best looking it won’t happen 😭

The explosion causing an avalanche, and "I wish I had a video camera" quote are both references to the movie XXX with Vin Diesel. Same with the tattoo on the back of the neck, which wasnt referenced in this video.
Even the bad animation isn't that bad. Like its bad, but Norm of the North came out 11 years after and its animation is even more horrendous. Especially since Hoodwinked had like $8 million and Norm of the North cost like $18 million.
Hoodwinked is so great because it knew better than to take itself seriously and played into its own distinct style and humor without giving the impression that it was pleased with itself for doing so. It had genuine wit and danced on the edge of self-parody with the grace of a ballerina.
Too bad Hoodwinked is no longer available on any streaming like Netflix, Amazon, or even UA-cam as this amazing ugly animated masterpiece ceased to exist, people instead had the boring sequel on Tubi and UA-cam
