Being a fan of bigbang since 2008. I have sooo many thoughts on this song and mv. I think it's a beautiful goodbye to how the industry knows bigbang. And hello to the next chapter. If you notice in gdragons scene. He has the fashion sense of Kwon jiyong and his director chair. He gets up and walks away from it in a VERY Gdragon style. And never seeing them in the same frame aside from empty chairs. and there not being a chorus. The song is complete and incomplete.
The excitement of Bigbang's comeback is also filled with lots of sadness for many fans, they did this comeback as a promise n a closure to fans after 4 yrs disappearance. hence it is also a comeback with just 1 song n its a ballet song that has strong meanings in lyrics, even the scenes there's many hidden meanings including the 4 chairs (fans pointed out that Daesung sitting on 3rd chair symbolises 4th chair for Seungri, n the 4th chair is slightly broken symbolises the current state of Seungri) + 1 director chair fm GDragon's solo World Tour prior the long hiatus, n the final logo of 5 horizontal lines, the VIPs will understand. I'm grieving with sadness for their departure back to hiatus though not disbandment, I feel that to the great leader King GD, Bigbang is always 5. In the mv, apart fm showing 4 chairs + 1 GD's director chair n the ending same Bigbang's MADE logo of 5 horizontal lines, some fans said that GD's umbrella (black on top n colorful inside) represents Seungri as GD has painted an abstract painting for Seungri whereby he painted it with all different colours n then on top of it covered with black color, when Seungri asked what it means GD explained to Seungri that he is the colors behind the black n ask him to look into his hearts (GD is such a deep, beautiful n artistic person). OK so this is copy/pasta from where I was talking to someone else, but I felt it might be good to post here too. These are the meanings I got out of their sets and whatnot, though I could seriously go into a NOVEL breaking it down because they put SO much into this video. ----- Taeyang's set is Spring. With the bible verse behind, the crashed ship, and the *lamb (Side note, a lamb also suits the new beginnings and bible verse) and comfortable way he's sitting, it's like he's telling us he's grateful for the ship (VIPs) that took him to his new Life, his Spring. He's content and happy and grateful with where he is. Daesung's set is Autumn. Somehow, his is the saddest. His lighting is darker, it looks like he's in an old house/museum looking into rooms he used to live and work in. He never really goes into them, just looks and turns away. I think he's telling us he misses the way things were, but he understands time changes everything and he can't go back. GD's set is Summer. As you mentioned his scenes are full of things that look like stage sets, or MV sets. He's got colour all around him but it's muted. He's the least ready to leave it all behind, he wants to perform, he wants to be in front of the audience even if he's gotta do it alone. And then there's TOP. His set is Winter. He's on a snowy planet in exploration gear, gazing fondly back at the Earth, with its people and lights all lit up. I think he's telling us he's exploring. He's been exploring, and at the end of the video he's walking towards the Earth, which is lit up with lights from civilization (VIPs reference again, like GD?). It gives the feeling that he'll be back on his own, hence leaving the label, to share with us what he's explored. His being Winter tells us of a hibernation, a preparation for Spring. TLDR I think Tae is happy with his life without performing, and grateful that performing gave him that life; Dae is remorseful that it ended, but not exactly ready to keep going either. More just... reminiscing; GD hasn't STOPPED, and isn't READY to stop, and doesn't know if he even CAN stop performing at this point; And TOP has been hibernating, but wants to show us the changes when time turns to Spring for him again. Editing to add: I do agree that DS could be Summer and GD Autumn. Initially, I had them that way myself, especially because it's in the transition order. However, looking at their meanings, the words they're giving us from their hearts, I feel like they're switched. Whether intentional or not, the mood the two are giving is different. I definitely support the idea of DS being summer and GD being Autumn though!
