  • This is my review of the XHDATA D-219 High Sensitivity 11-Band Receiver. They currently sell for around $10.00 on Amazon depending on price and coupon. I bought it for $9.47 plus tax after using a 12% off coupon last month.
Please note that I am reviewing the 10 KHz version of this radio, which is compatible to North America and South America. I also gave out the wrong call letters for 1710 AM, which is WQFG689.

The D-219 is a real bargain for SW listeners who can cope with its somewhat muffled sound and the chopped sound when browsing bands due to its being DSP-based.
It *is* very sensitive indeed. Mine sometimes make weak signals readable which I can't listen to on more expensive radios. It's also prone to some overloading and FM breakthrough. But this is the price to pay for its being so sensitive, I guess.
Note that its color really has nothing to do with it using 9 or 10 kHz steps in AM. At least not outside of the US.
I have two of them, different colors, but both are the 9 kHz variant. I actually have bought both of them even before the 10 kHz model appeared.
    Nice review, thanks.

Actually the chopping sound is due to this radio using an inexpensive DSP chip from Skyworks (in this case it's the Si 4825-A10). High end DSP tuners don't have that stuttering problem.
The D-219 with the 10 kHz stepping is available only in dark gray. If you see the silver variant it's definitely the 9 kHz stepping version.

If you're wondering what the 64-87 MHz band is doing here, the 66-74 MHz OIRT band is still active in some Eastern countries, some being peaceful, while others keep saying how peaceful they are 🤣 and I believe there's an off secondary FM band in China, idk... for student/college broadcasting? 🤔 And don't forget about Japan's FM band, which is 76-95 MHz... so it actually comes broken in 2 parts on this radio 🤦‍♂️🤣

It would've been nice to expand the FM to those frequencies in the United States. Unfortunately, those frequencies are being used for television. Thank you for watching and have a good day.

There is a Ham band for model airplane controllers in the 72-76 MHz range I’d have to look it up and also medical telemetry devices are in this area so as a wireless heart monitors etc. In the US that is considered a utility band.
Thanks for the review and 73!

I received a wireless clock synchronization signal called Primex Wireless Time Sync in that range. There is a video of that on my channel.

I love it for the AM & FM. Shortwave is more of a bonus for me, but it can pick up stations on those bands. Thank you so much for watching.

21:44 thanks for this trick maybe it will help my low end HanRongDa HRD 737 radio with shortwave. Does the trick work with All Radio bands?

    • @tvradio1972
      @tvradio1972  11 місяців тому +2

Yes, if the overload is from an AM station. If the overload is from an FM station, this trick won't work.

I've got one. It's a keeper. Could be fun for dxing on MW. Try it with a Tecsun AN-200 loop.

Nice! This radio is worth the money. I don't have a Tecsun AN-200, but I have similar passive loop antennas like the Terk Advantage.

If you don't mind me asking, I'm curious how you would rate the shortwave performance between this and the Eton Elite Mini. I'm planning on getting the Mini mainly for FM listening, but $10 is really tempting for fiddling around with SW if it is any better.
