I've been doing manual transmission and hills for years and i still get nervous...sometimes taking off on hills you need three feet and three arms...i find it useful in some cases to use the hand throttle to keep the rpm's up then your feet are freed up for the brake and clutch pedals...i believe when i learned the driving instructor told us to use the handbrake but that's tougher on a dash mounted jeep....your wife did awesome...i constantly forget first is not synchronized and still grind it occasionally.
Yeah and what is really cool...is she did it in a car she has never driven before. She is very good at it using modern cars with standards...but this one tested her a bit.
Yes agree. I probably wont do it to the two original jeeps...but I am building a cj5 restomod(ish) and I plan to do the disk break conversion on that. Those videos will be coming out soonish.
Looks like y’all had fun. Love my wife to take a jeep drive one day. Yeah it’s frightening how so many people don’t know basic rules of driving anymore
Northern New England. Starts to get chilly this time of year at night and it hadn't had time to warm up (we filmed this pretty early in the morning). Yep...still pretty rural around here. We still hunt, shoot guns, and cut down trees for lumber and firewood. Changing times, and I am sure it will catch up to us one day. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Taught my wife how to drive stick about 15 years ago I don't know if it's a fluke but her last 3 vehicles have all been manual since. The funny part is you can't find a manual if you want to. Hopefully her next vehicle is automatic for crying out loudit's 2024 after all. I don't mind driving them I just hate when I'm in the city.
Yeah I can see city driving being tough, on and off the clutch. Both our daily drivers are automatics... But the fun ones are all manual. It really connects you to the car. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Speaking as a guy who has to work on his own CJ - and had to rebuild the transmission several times to get it right.... my wife will NEVER EVER drive my CJ.
@@rusttooresurrection813 I think he is saying put it in neutral when stopped to prevent unnecessary wear on the throw out bearing but idk 🤷♂️ Awesome vid though, love the ol cj 👍
I love this type of old cars
Thanks Aaron...fun to own and drive
Looks like fun
It was. And she was fun to watch driving this for the first time.
She did amazing 😎😎can’t wait for my girlfriend our driving ours
Hope she does! Fun little rigs to drive.
SOOOOOOO COOOOOOOO Loved it . Guess who .
Thanks Earl!

one upgrade i did, that purists hate, is disk brakes (Suzuki Samurai), on all four corners...it makes it much safer in traffic...

Yes sir...it was a blast. She was a bit reluctant at first but stepped up to the plate and got it done in style. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Where are you located? Looks pretty rural. Also we haven't really had jacket weather here, but in a Jeep one really feels the temperature. Nice Jeep!

Looks like the van didn't know she was signaling to turn left. They need to re-take their driving test.
Yep...something of lost knowledge. Like standard shift and clutch. 😔
First 🙌
Nice!

😀 Didn't think mine would at first. She was a good sport about it.
Why are you letting her hold the clutch in? Teach her right.
Ok ??
