Yes I know I could hit my hand but I've got alot of experience with a slingshot and I'm willing to take the risk. YOU GUYS SHOULD NOT TAKE THE SAME RISK I HAVE 🙏
I've never hit my hand with a slingshot but even so I'd probably put a hundred or shots down with a less lethal tip like rubber before moving onto these just to save myself the anxiety! Looks loads of fun to shoot
LOL. I'm a native Texan and I don't know anyone that has hunted with a sledgehammer. However, we can hunt any non game animal by any means. And when I say any means, we hunt wild pig form helicopters with a machine gun. It has become a popular tourist activity, so if you are ever in Texas, give it a try.

I wear glasses when using a slingshot after fecking my left eye up so you lads have way more balls than me using these darts.

Great little catapult ‘hack’ that. I have converted a catty to a sling bow which is also great fun. Really like the nail darts. For those that worry about the bolts hitting your hand I wouldn’t worry, you will find that it would be the elastic that twangs on you after release. Great vid guys

Love the small arrows the velocity seems better and not much drop in elevation till 10-15 yards good for small game like raccoon and porcupines. Thanks man.

I’m a Texan, “sledgehammers” lol. The only animal we can hunt 24/7 with virtually any method is feral hogs. Have taken so many, I’ve lost count. My Matthews compound bow has become the favorite of late. I applaud your ingenuity. Keep refining.
what is the type of string of the small piece of string that you used in the modified slingshot show at the time 6:36 ?
A better way to do the pouch is to use a bit of nylon line from a garden trimmer heat the ends to make a ball and tie strait to the rubber. you also need to cold forge a little broad head on the nail. also, they work best with nylon broom straw for the tassel, and of course you get the most velocity with a star-ship frame. But that's all a lot of work and steel balls and lead balls/sinkers kill small game just fine. Another thing about balls is that if someone finds one, they don't tend to think it was ammo but if someone finds a lost one of those darts, they might get a bit uptight.
What is keeping the arrow Head on the the shaft when you pull on the arrow why is it not pulling off the shaft ?
This is really interesting. I've been playing with the idea of take down arrows for a homemade slingbow for backpacking trips but those darts would be much easier to haul around. I should probably check the legality of either option first though.
Do they make darts that can take down bigger game like deer. I've always wandered if so but haven't seen nothing.

Those bolts are sick, especially the one with green epoxy, I just bought 12 catapult bolts from temu for £10 and one of those mechanical quick release gadgets. The bolts are in 4 pieces, the steel head, the ateel body, a wire below tge head and an aluminium cap. Very nice quality.
Also have an new anvil for Christmas off of one of my Sisters. So I can have a go at forging my own stuff.

Thanks to you guys I made a starship catapult with a swivel fork and double. 8 bands. I'm shooting a 6 in long broadhead dart at 30 yards I can hit a paper plate and bury it over half way in my archery target. I've hunted 5 coyotes and am using it when deer season comes in.
How far is the range?
Tried something similar a while ago2 inch masonry nails with paracord .didn't bother modifying slingshot just sat nails in pouch, straightened out in flight, good fun

Hey good video I also shoot pana darts some made from nails and others like the mini bolt that a make from carbon arrow and plastic wing nuts so you can screw field points or broad also if you use the plastic bristle from a broom on your nail darts they will fly with out much drag

Try to use smaller rubber to gain more momentum energy for the bolt, 3/4 or 1/2 from that size. If you use 1/2 make it double/side to reduce from snap and hit you back. And for the nail bolt is good toys but for the fin that to much try to decreace or change it with duct tape and shape it like small rocket.

I use a stickshooter about 8-10 inches long to shoot Pana darts with. Once you get the knack of flicking your wrist forward on release it works fine, and less chance of unfortunate mishaps. I've had thousands of shots without any problems, but I wouldn't be confident shooting from ordinary forks. One beoadhead through the back of your hand would be one too many, but hey it's your hand.

Wish has sellers that have these darts. As well as hand protectors and even fishing reels you can attach. Might be worth looking into. Seems they use tubes instead of flats.
When my wife and I were building our cabin we bought some 5 inch nails to nail together the foundation and I have been thinking that if the head of the nail was ground flat on both sides leaving a piece of head stitching out of both sides then that would make the heavier end of the nail up front and give you something to hook the nail to the slingshot. But it would still need to be ground a bit to a point. And also a little notch ground into the nail where you want to tie on some fletching😎

They can be refined so well they’ll shoot like a steel ball !! Hilti nails copperwire to make them go straighter for as long as a steel 9.5 and fluffed rope ! Yous figure out the math on whatsize and how much to use ! Lethal device not something I’d use with a catty I’ve seen the effects and it’ll surely give or even get catty shooting band altogether ! Good to experiment and have fun though 👍🏻

It's funny that you mentioned your friends telling you it would be dangerous to you use that point in case you hit your hand. I'm in Florida here in the US and I can honestly say the prospect of an injury seem so very little compared to the benefit we are brilliant devices there. We are of course Very Reckless here in the US especially in the state like Florida. But the last thing on my mind what is the risk LOL

I traveled that same road until I put a dart THROUGH my hand.
Not sure how, just sure it hurt about 6 months.
Now, I shoot only arrows longer than the draw length plus about 4" the other side of the whisker biscuit
I'm sure someone could come up with one with a hand guard for all those worrying about hand hits

Its my playing part when I was a child. So simple but very usefull for hunting such monkeys or another animals that making trouble in our farm. We used small stones or marbles as our pellet. And sometimes we make a small arrow for hunting in the forrest. We made it by our hands.
These would be good with a folding sling shot with tube bands that you cab but to increase the power of and also in a survival situation for small game such as squids and rabbits or a little larger but not much.

You need something on the top of your hand to keep that dartpoint from hitting you in the top of the hand

I've had slingshot ammo hit my hand before. This would be awful. Fun but I'd use longer ones.

This design is still safer than our Indian Pana. Modified nails is use as na arrow. A lot of people end up in the operating room with dart stuck in their bodies.

I switched to mostly full butterfly with 3\8" steel ball, but it occurs that they don't have a hardened steel POINT on them! Again, I've shot thousands of rounds and never hit my ear once, as I originally feared.

Careful with those I’ve seen pictures of those going through peoples hands, should probably wear some hand protection when shooting those, they are pretty dangerous.

Make you arrow heads out of circular saw blades. Just cut them out with your grinder , sharpen and heat treat in oil.
