Thank you for using the Full terms in your trainings. It is very helpful in your teachings. And I'm not having to go look them up to try and remember what they stand for =)

Intel allegedly arriving with some 288 core behemoth CPUs in the next year or so; can't wait to see the cost of licensing SQL Enterprise on a dual socket so equipped!!!! (WIll cost 9x as much as server itself!)

I would go with per-VM licensing in that case.

    Hi Alex
How to buy a perpetual license (paid over a fixed term and perpetual license ownership) as opposed to the licensing model where you pay an annual cost indefinitely?
This was an amazing video. I’ve watched it twice but unable to find answer to my question.

I assume you are talking about SQL Server licences. Perpetual licenses are available through CSP: www.microsoft.com/licensing/terms/productoffering/SQLServer/MCA
However, please watch this training once again and see if you may need a subscription license instead. Because perpetual SQL Server 2022 licenses lack VM mobility, SQL Failover, and even virtualisation rights. If you are in Europe and you want to run SQL 2019 or earlier, virtualisation rights can be obtained by buying a second-hand license.
Also, perpetual licences require one upfront payment, there is no "over a fixed term" payment option.

Downgrade rights are available without SA for all volume licenses. Not sure about the retail channel.

@@3attialeo who told you that? It’s wrong information. Buy a SQL 2022 license and use 2016 under it.
