Yesterday I went to marutha malai then back to chennai in evening kovai express bro,I have missed u 😅
Bro from 1997-2008 this Kovai exp used to have rake sharing with 2678 Coimbatore Bangalore Intercity exp. When this train was extended to Ernakulam this intercity got separated from Kovai exp and it used to have rake sharing with Ers tpj tea garden exp,it used to have 2S-4,SL-6,PC-1,3A-1. Then later when tea garden got extended to Karaikal intercity got separated from tea garden exp and then it stated having 2S-9 and 3A-1. Again after sometime 3A was also removed and it was replaced with CC coach.
this train is classic example of today's india - very efficient, poorly organised, if you travel in AC chair car comparitively comfortable no-nonsense travel. In 2nd class only God blessed individual can travel without mental-physical pain.

Journey was super..You have been saying la bro north trains are bad like that(for the maintenance and overcrowded in coaches) As i have already said but we south people are not far away i have seen it in 90% of the morning trains with unreserved ticket people getting into reserved coaches.. I think so we will be on par to north people maintenance and our overcrowded trains in the coming years.. The only thing we will may prefer is the premium ac trains where we will not issues I think so that is what will happen in 10 years or so

In day trains,all inbetween tickets are mostly filled, while travelling in pinakini,i too thought,some passengers deboarded in kavali, immediately new passengers aboard in same station,so very tough to see empty seats in day trains in main routes,train went jam-packed till tenali,only after that seats were free.

Kovai Express, or popularly referred to as Kovai, connects Tamil Nadu's state capital Chennai and its second largest city Coimbatore, a major textile, educational and engineering center. This train covers 6 corporation cities out of 12 in the state: Chennai, Vellore, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur and Coimbatore. The route covers most of the major industrial hubs in the north west part of Tamil Nadu. En route, starting from Coimbatore, it covers important towns of Tirupur, an international hosiery goods exporting town, Erode, a principle agricultural and major Industrial town, Salem which is a major steel and mineral town,Morappur, a station that serves passengers from Dharmapuri and surrounding areas, major leather goods exporting centers Ambur, Vaniyambadi, Arakkonam Junction The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), INS Rajali Naval Air Station and Vellore-Katpadi which has both a medical center a university. Kovai Express contains a total number of 22 LHB coach. Previously it has a single dedicated rake unit but now its rakes are being shared with Brindhavan Express. Its rakes are maintained at GSN yard, Bainbridge, Chennai. It used to start from Chennai at 6 A.M and its next stop was Katpadi arriving at 7.43 A.M. Other stops at that time was Jolarpet, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur and Coimbatore. It used to reach Cbe at 2 p.m. and start back at 2.20 p.m. Now Shatabdi Express has taken over the Kovai express timings.
