Suzuka is such a showman. When I saw them in concert last year, she TWICE stood on the audience bar and let the crowd hold her up with our hands while she belted out lyrics. She will choose a girl in the crowd sometimes and get up close while singing. She is fearless.
The lyrics sound like what I've heard women describe as the uniquely female experience of entering adolescence. All of a sudden they're developing more mature figures and, though still very young, they're catching the eyes of older men. Some don't know how to deal with it and it scares them. Others naïvely desire more "adult" experiences - sometimes regretting it. A woman could definitely describe this better than I.
Yes, absolutely! These girls are making fun of all older men who fantasize about young school girls. Hence the school girl uniforms. Remember the quote from an old movie about high school girls “I get older, but high school girls remain the same”
You're not alone))) A lot of metalheads do like Atarashii Gakko 😅. Even tho the music is different but the wildness and entertaining are at the same level as metal performers. And yes, they may have serious lyrics but they don't take it overly serious. Their concept is "Anti-idols"
As for the lyrics, you can really get the whole concept from the name of the single, Otona (Adult) Buruu (Feeling sad / Blues). Buruu is very close to Buru (To act like the previous noun, in this case Adult), which is a visual they display a few times in the music video, like when they smoke cigarettes which are actually candies. The native word for blue (pronounced Ao, Sei, or Shou), is often used to describe youthfulness, so there's a play on words there with these three meanings. I imagine the most intended meaning however is: To Act Like An Adult. (Otona Buru)
Their new song suki lie is also great. They self describe as the cute mizyu, the funky rin, the graceful kanon, and the wildcard suzuka. Suzuka definitely is a wildcard and so so so charismatic.
AG has lyrics that are edgy or ridiculous or weird. I think they write their own lyrics and their own choreography. Suzuka has a lot of comedy videos up on YT, she definitely has comedic talent. Their music arrangements are from their producers, so the style changes depending on their production team. I think this song is meant to be a bit ironic and absurd. They are kind of an anti idol group.
At the cusp of adulthood where they know they can attract a guy, longing for that adult encounter, going through motions, up to saying 'Naw, I'm not ready'.
It's July 2 - I have been bing watching them all weekend. Who else noticed how much Mizyu looks like Miku Kaboto??!! The song is about the Japanese men's obsession of very young girls. There are 11yo girls that pose in very sexy outfits for men to photograph them. Usually their Mother's escort them the the studios. There is video on YT of this.
Ok few things I am a fan of metal and hard rock. Pretty much hate pop but damn I love AG just an insane mixture of fun, good music, good dance, humor and personality. People will push you and give thumbs ups for their favorite songs. BUT..in the summer of 2022 while touring the US, Suzuka was asked where should one start to explore AG. Her response Koi Geba. It is a serious topic, teacher/student sexual affairs. Of course they do it with flair and style. The song is also rooted in a more jazz/rock vide as their older music tended to be.
i just filmed a new music video with them 4/18/24 a few days after there Coachella Performance. im a cowboy in video .I won't say what we filmed, but you will be blown away. they are not sure of the title of the song yet. Atarashii Gakko are really cool Ladies.
The song is talking about how they as young girls are always looked at as things to be desired in a way that they do not want. It coincides with their branding of always wearing their school uniforms so people wouldn't sexualize them like they do other idol groups.
The context of this song brings the lyrics into a focus just a bit, so I'll explain. The song was written when the girls were about 16-18, and it's basically meant to be taken as a joke. The title of the song, 大人ぶる, means 'to pretend to be an adult', which is basically what they're doing throughout the whole song, from the lyrics to the dancing. The joke is meant to be that they're kind of childish and not really being as coquettish or seductive as they think they are, but they're singing as though they're in a burlesque show or something. But ultimately, yeah, it's just about being a kid (more specifically a teenager), and feeling like the people around you aren't mature enough for your tastes and desiring an "adult romance" where both parties are mature, but also recognizing that you're too young and therefore pretending to be an adult in order to seduce someone you feel is more compatible with your "maturity".
@@MyDarkgaia If that were true, why would people write lyrics that aren't simply dispassionate statements of fact? Why would they write lyrics at all? Words have meaning. Understanding the meaning of those words is valuable to some people. It's perfectly fine if you're not one of those people. That said, there's not much point in coming here to tell people they're enjoying music the wrong way. This is one of those debates that's not going to have a right or wrong answer, so let's just nip this in the bud and agree to disagree.
Atarashii Gakko No Leaders (New School Leaders) was formed in 2015 by Asobisytem. Mizyu (the one with two ponytails) was already on their books as she was a back up dancer to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and they brought in Rin, Kanon and Suzuka to join her. They do all their own choreography and also create dances for other groups. They have some of the most original choreo I've seen from an idol group. In fact they are almost an anti-idol group as their motto is "With individuality and freedom I'm going to stick out" and they sing about challenging themes and have appeared at Pride events and do some pretty avant garde art projects. In 2020/21 they joined 88rising to break into the US market and have had some success getting millions of YT views and doing some concerts in California. They recently broke out on TikTok in Japan with Otona Blue which is quite an old song and this First Take version is closing in on 10M views. Otona Blue (Adult Blue, blue is associated with youth and immaturity in Japan) is about "teenage awakening" ie the awareness of desire in others and their own desire to grow up and experience adult emotions. AG wrote the lyrics themselves when they were younger and I think it's an honest expression of their feelings as they approached adulthood, which makes people uncomfortable. But AG never shy away from difficult subjects. They actually cut out some of the more explicit "phallic" bits of the dance and introduced a mime of a flower opening with a surprised look. Another teenage angst song is "Nai Nai Nai". ua-cam.com/video/oeM1A65KhIw/v-deo.html and check out their latest song "Suki Lie" which is about romantic betrayal.

AAAAA ATARASHII GAKK !! MY LOVE
i in love with kanon
You should listen to another song from ATARASHII GAKKO! It's more metal like. It's called Koi Geba!
I love their first take video! It was the first time hearing of them for me, too, and I had the EXACT same reaction you did! Now, I’m gonna look at more of your channel cuz they led me here. It’s all, like, cyclical, man😂
Aaand another Suzuka fan has been born..
literally my reaction
There is only one vocalist named suzuka and she is in a band named "BABYMETAL"🤙🤙
lol.
Love them! Started listening to them as I'm learning Japanese and their lyrics were the first that were just clear to me and then just everything else about them has kept them on my daily playlist.
I would like to suggest their older song "Love Boom Barrier", a story about a girl fell in love, told her best friend all about her crush. But her best friend betrayed.

That was a really surprising song! I like it!
But bro, the LoFi FF X soundtrack during the Thoughts section? You got a sub.
Tokyo calling is another fun video. I first noticed thus group when they popped up on captain disillusion last year...
They have so much charisma and personality. It's refreshing.
