- BAFTA acknowledges Downton Abbey six hugely successful season's, among other things, by giving Prince William, Sir Anthony Hopkins and P Diddy's opinions about the storyline and the cast and why they love so much the show.
Also, Hugh Bonneville and the cast led the tributes to Julian Fellowes's creation.
On 11 August 2015, BAFTA presented a Special Award to Downton Abbey.

I only firvled myself to watch the first episode just to see what everyone was so gaga over. Well, just like a drug it hooked me on the very first episode and couldn't get enough. I can't tell you how many countless nights I lost sleep because I kept telling myself "just one more episode..."

2021, i finally got myself to watch Downton.
I spent only a week to finish all 6 seasons... And managed to drag some of my friends to the pit with me. Such amazing drama.

I had never watched in until an elderly German friend of mine from Bavaria kept on talking about it. Now I want to buy the boxed set in case I have missed anything. Absolutely brilliant series.

I'm a Canadian Downton Abbey Fan! I LOVE this show!
I loved Mr Spratt, the Dowagers butler, loved Molesley's character, and Daisy and Mrs Patmore.
Everyone was given great story lines so I guess we owe a huge debt to Julian Fellows the writer.
I couldn’t write 50 words that would interest a three year old, but I know the big reason why Downton Abbey was successful.
It was about a large family (even though master and servant) of honest decent people doing and behaving like honest decent people.
As spectators we wanted then to be happy and successful and we enjoyed their success, which was usually the outcome. It was heartwarming.
Obviously there had to be obstacles to happiness to make the story engaging. That meant just a couple of the main characters were bad in order to create the story. But only a couple.
Give the people what they want, that’s the way.
Another example of the “happy family” success was “Hi-Di-Hi”. A moderately funny series, but very popular because all the many characters were essentially part of a large family of good people we wanted to succeed.
Spot on! Not soppy fake emotion but honest and decent people who care about life & others.
I love Downton Abby. Would love to see more interviews of the cast talking about their characters and the show.
This is my all time favorite show ever. I watched the series at least 5 times and enjoy it everything! Even the theme music makes my day! Can't wait until the next movie and hopefully more!!
I've been to Highclere Castle...it's a legend by itself. The estate is grand but very comfortable....not all grand houses offer that sense of comfort.
So glad to see how the crew got applauded, by the cast and it's producers.The amount of preperation and eye for detail is just beyond belief. And everything was of the same high standard, behind and in front of the camera. The dresses and suits, all the cloths were just amazing to look at, being so elegant and correct for the occasion. All the "props"..were reall, the cars, upto the Louis Vuiton suitcases, the letters, nothing seemed to be overlooked. It all contributed to the authenticaty of the story, as well as all the locations. I have watched the complete series for the second time in two months, in these hazardous corona times we live in, being in a selfchosen quarantine, the joy of watching and loosing myself into this world and the story, is a wonderfull distraction! Thx to all who made these series possible!

This is December 2021. I have been binge watching since Thanksgiving all because my piano teacher suggested I learn downtown abbey theme song on the piano. Now I am addicted to the series and the song. It is up there as my favorite along with pride and prejudice , the latest one. 😃

I love the series. I'm re-watching the series in anticipation of the movie release here in the USA in September. As for the clip just played, I liked it except for the "celebs" who claim to be fans. I don't give a rip what most of them have to say. I've watched the various clips of the cast as they appeared as guests on other shows and enjoy them. Good heavens, they’re all better looking in real life! The show had just ended when I started watching repeats on pbs and I eventually borrowed the box set from a friend. I’ve binged on the whole show in sequence at least twenty times and it richly deserves any and all accolades received. Sets the mark, well done.🍾🥂cheers.

Writing from Singapore, which by co-incident came across Downton Abbey last week via Netflix and I was and still hooked on the series. Why am I so late watching it ??!!! Love the casts !

I am so lucky to have been able to start this series so late. I'm on the 3rd season and frankly milking this for as long as I can only to watch it again from the beginning.
Extraordinary acting and character building makes me feel connected with everyone and not just the main character (none).
I never felt as though I was watching from afar but in the midst of everything that was happening. That for me is the epitome of cinematic art.
I caught a couple of episodes on PBS just scanning through the channels. I was enthralled. I bought all the seasons that were available at the time which were 5.. Then I patiently waited for season 6. Watched it all . Then bought it when it came on DVD. Then bought the Manners DVD. Now I own the movie. without being able to go back and watch the episodes when I get the urge I would feel empty. That's how much I love everything about it. I would recommend it to everyone!
I have just finished the whole series plus the movie today. It is surely not the most demanding series I have ever seen but it was incredibly capturing, full of emotions, sensitivity, amosphere and aesthetic. Great acting! And all the detailed work behind it...the beauty of the residence itself (castle??). The music....I will miss the view zooming into the kitchen downstairs, the bells on the wall...Lovely. Also, how very nice to celebrate the crew at the end of the ceremony. Well well deserved!

Good heavens I am crying. The show is brilliant and I love every part of it. The cast and crew look amazing and I couldn't thank them enough for giving us Downton Abbey.
It must be said that the seeds of DA were sown, partly, in the American produced film Gosford Park, written by Julian Fellowes and brought to the screen by Bob Balaban and the late, great Robert Altman. Indeed, Fellowes concept of DA began as a proposed spinoff of GP. Dame Maggie Smith had already played Violet in her portrayal as Constance Trentham in GP. Other GP vets in DA are Jeremy Swift and Richard Grant. So, as an anglophile American, I'm proud of this connection to DA.
I have completed this series yesterday. After I have watched the movie on 2019 , I have seen there is a series on this. Atleast got the time to start it 2 weeks back and completed all 6 seasons in 2 weeks. This is the best drama series I have ever seen

I went passed Highclere many years ago as a young child on the way to Witney Oxford to my grandma we did that when dad got to pass his driving test i also remember a brick building on the left side of the road made in 1065 just after the invasion .
