I have no doubt about this there is a lot we don't know about our world.
❤❤❤❤❤
If you look around would know really. Evern little things
Thank you, the world needs to hear this history including the Mermaid tales of the Caribbean. Mermaids were black first.
Yep. In Jamaica, she is Riva Mumma (Mother of the river)
How do you know that mermaids were black first? Let be say. All life started in waters. Look between your fingers and tooth we have the same fleece like ducks. Our water ancestors where calling the ogdoad, they where 12, male and female. Know that other beings allso came from other planets and landed in water. Check the story of the dogon and their god, the nomos.find for yourself who this beings are.
@@Queenmomefuastop all this cheap lies
@@Queenmomefua Mermaids were black first because ALL was black first. Simple mathematics.
@@Queenmomefua All life is water. We live in water - only less dense than sea or river, so we need no gills. There are STILL BLACK 'sea people', who have mermaid qualities. Meaning that oxygen is diverted from their lungs directly to their blood streams so they can stay under water even as long as five minutes.
You know about the sea or water people in Africa - right? Where are the white sea people? Just like you do not have white ANCIENT HUMAN RELICS, you don't have white mermaid relics. AND WHITE PEOPLE ARE NOT CAUCASIANS EITHER.
Caucasians were a race of Black Priest and their civilizations that lived in the Caucasus before white frenemies came, learned their sciences, destroyed them and claimed to be Caucasians, just as many now claim to be South Africans and Egyptians.
So stop talking about the 'WHAT ABOUT WHITE' every time someone talks the truth about black. If you can tell me ONE THING that white people say they are that they truly are (except white) I will eat this computer. If you want to know about the origins of white people - when or how, you can simply ask...
Im from South Africa and I believe this story is a plot . Those Water Spirits are not so easy to just take you to their sacred palace and bring you back to tell about it , most cases only the initiated ones make it back with a cow or sheep or more for sacrifices and rituals have to be met precisely on most cases , otherwise most people get swept away and never return to the face of the earth or found floating with their brains sucked out from the nostrils.
There are more than just Mama wati , Oya , Yemoja , Olokum Oshun it just depends on which location you at then you’ll find a different water spirit with different attributes that will define how you connect with it , some even have time slots on when to play around the water and when not to or you’ll be swept away . Most communicate through traditional healers and thats where the village get their instructions on how to engage with the spirit
But this story sound way too uncomplicated for interacting with the spirit like it’s just your normal friend, even people with spiritual gifts and who are able to go in and out without any harm are never open about whats going on under water . And they respect and obey the spirit like it’s God , you never speak about it directly but create metaphorical fairy tale stories just to try and give you the idea .
They have "whitewashed" who this goddess really is and know NOTHING about Igbo spirituality or the spirituality of many African tribal groups. This is for clicks.
Shes also called Nwa Mmiri
When I was younger in Liberia. I almost got abducted by mami wata. Beautiful girl came out of the deep end of the sea. Large afro, dark hair. She held my hand and started to pull into the sea. Saying, oh, come on, while smiling. Knowing I wasn't a good swimmer, I screamed for help. 4 of my friends came and started pulling my left arm while she was pulling my right arm. She finally let go and disappear under water. To this day, I feel like she's waiting for me. I'm scared shitless to go near the ocean. I've never swim by the ocean ever since. I now live in the Midwest of the US where I won't be tempted to go near the ocean.
Wow
😮
You should pray about it.
Yes I believe you , the ones I saw were extremely light skin and beauty the likes u have never seen before ,
I will not say that this did not happen to you, because here in the U.S on a cable channel people testify to big foot encounters, mothman encounters, and several other types of encounters, all that I know is that as humans we don't know it all or what else lurks among us😮.
Somethings tells me that some of those testimonies that I have heard are truths being told.
This is so true some people saw it in Nigeria and some other parts of subsahara African nations can testify to this . Even Jamaican believe this 🔥💯🇳🇬🇳🇬
My grandma and mom speak of mermaids
Real but we Jamaicans call her riva mumma
@@Tialaniee yes same creature different names I guessed 😂 👍
Exactly 😂
Mami is a short form for mummy and you know what water means, she's a very powerful deity where I'm from in Nigeria, my mum once yold me she saw one one while she was a little girl in the village, she and her sisters went to fetch water from the stream very early in the morning and they saw a very beautiful mummy water bathing, Immediately she saw them, the beautiful sea lady dived back into the water and they saw her fish tail... Till now i wish i would see one mummy water one day but i know its very rare even though i know I'm a son of the water lol... Yea in Igbo tribe some people are considered to be "Nwa Mmri" which means child of the water, some has more connection to the water than others.... Well there are lots of real stories about these "mami water" ❤
Mami is not even right it’s maame and it means woman
papi, mami etc it means woman or mother of water, stop trying to personalize it. You think the deity is of Ghana origin?
So she came out of the water to bath with the water she came out from? Make that make sense please.
@@elormettuh2665 it doesn't matter how you pronounce or spell it... How ever you spell mummy in your language is fine, just don't personalize it lol😂
@@jensensolace4948 yea... it's said they do come out only very early in the morning to play and bath at the river bank... Well I don't know where you are from but from here it's a very common thing, in our calendar today is an eke day and on eke days you can have or feel more connected to them and if I'm to go pray give offerings at the river it would be today or I wait till the next eke day or afor day... Don't let me start teaching you igbo culture here lol 😂😂
This story is so beautiful and sad at the same time. ❤❤🥺
Well, she is part of the Great Legacy of Auset, Yemoja, & Others known to African Cultural and Spiritual History and Spirituality.
With every African coastal legend, it a slightly different story with the tribes!
Much Love From West Africa 🇸🇱❤❤❤❤
Who came up with this story? 😅 I'm from Nigeria and everything in this video is pure 🧢. Mami water is a river goddess/marine spirit and she's not associated with benevolence. Rather she's a malicious entity that is evoked for quick riches at a high cost to the seeker. She's also sought after for vengeance and other wicked reasons. She's not the harmless, kind creature that this video poster is trying to portray. Give your life to Jesus. He is the ONLY WAY to true peace and prosperity. Selah
She's harmful dangerous yet she's kind and pitiful and also emphatic.
Nature gives good and bad things not just water alone. Leave my Mami water alone ooo because fear won't allow you know something better.
@@kbeauty88what do you know about her are you from the water world.
@@ARC.benedict-samsonyou don't need to be from the water world to know that the female water gods have different attributes in different countries and their tries. To some they protect to others they destroy. You cannot use the definition from your culture to define one from another culture
Because the white man told you that our religion is evil she’s not evil only if you do evil you get punished
@@vashninjaka2587 hmmm you are right where am from she is a caring and kind mother especially to those that are from her world and worshippers too. Slow to anger but when provoked it going to be nasty this happens mostly if anyone hurt her daughters on earth

I would have love to see this as a Disney movie instead of the little mermaid remake
No. We do NOT need Disney to make this story come to life. We need African / Black producers, directors, & actors to tell this story. Don't let Disney tell our story. They have their own.
I would too
@@ecllipsedeloach65 Obviously. But the Tyler perrys (black film makers) choose to keep making stereotypical drama flicks instead and Disney keep choosing make animated movies this is in there wheel house unless you can director, produce and write? Wow. She gave him gifts and being likeable to others was more important than her genuine, unconditional friendship she offered him and the lovely gift she made him to ensure he'd thrive?! He threw those 2 beautiful things away for something you don't need to live good, it's just a little nice if you happen to have it? Seems ungrateful. But it speaks to her level of actual, strong care for him, for her to be like "it hurts, and I don't wanna do this. But if it will truly make you happy, I'll do it"? That's a type of love right there. I hope someone out there is showing her the love she's shown others and that she can see clearly its not always gonna be bad to show love to someone or something again. And I hope Mami Wata can at long last be on the recieving end of some much deserved appreciation🥺💝
Something is terribly wrong with this story. I'm a West African, and I've never heard that story told like that 😒

In my country Liberia 🇱🇷 , the folklore explain that they are harmful creatures that doesn't like people. There are stories that if a person can't get married or bear children, there's a mami wata( mermaid) or underwater man involves. But sometimes people used to pray to these spirits for children. But even if they were granted children by those merfolks, it would come with a heavy price to pay by either the children or the parents. In my native Bassa ( one of the ethnic groups of Liberia) dialect we refer to them as "Nee gie" . Nee means water and gie refers to a genie or spirit.
I will agree with you Mami wata we call her Teek in Nuelanguagees one tribe among 64 tribes of South Sudan. Mami Wata (Teek) use to protect our entire families when it come got trouble in the River Nile my father fight with a crocodile up to death at the end he was rescued and healthy and Aunty go to the river and don't know how to swim when she was a little girl she took four days in the river at last she was found half died. Teek did a lot, Mericle to our families until now day. If one goes fishing in the river he/she can mention any type of fish mami wata (teek) and grant it immediately.
Very beautiful African Authentic Story!!! Thank you
l had an experience with Mami wata once she tried to convince me to follow her but I refused then my mum called me by the time l look back she disappeared for a while l kept having dream where l would be sitting down by her side with some other people l had to tell my mum about it l had to undergo serious prayers after that she isn't a nice spirit as you might think
I would assume at least I can tell this story is tampered with

I guess The Little Mermaid has something to do with the African Origin. Probably, that's why a black actress was chosen.
Ondo is in Nigeria, Nigeria don't use the naming conventions Akans in West Africa use. Kofi in Ondo...uh yeah, nuh so!
Just a story

Your documentary is wrong totally wrong. Follow "life is spiritual by erica mukisa" I promise u will learn a lot from her because she is an ex devil worshipper who got a chance to mert these fallen angels. This story teller must be a devil's agent. Thank u stay blessed
😂Funny you who do not even know that the same mythology you demonise is actually the same you worship and it is part of you, everything came from the primordial/celestial waters of Nu and humans are most like reptilian mermaids just take a look at sperm, our Web like fingers and feet. Maame Wata is the same as Auset (Isis) and also Yemaya (Yemoja) of the Orishas.

Riva Mumma (Mother of the river - As they call her in Jamaica)
I dreamed her when I went to Portland. There was a river behind the building I was staying and she dreamed me at 5 am telling me to come so she could heal me. She was really beautiful and dark skinned. I was afraid so I never went. She told me to bring 7 coins to pay the river. She dreamed me twice and I never did what she asked due to fear. This narration is so very, very wrong in many ways !! She was never human but rather a water deity on her own. People from riverine areas know about her and when beautiful girls are born, some are chosen to be like her; alluring and able to bring blessings or curses to those they choose to love. They are always attracted to water and moonlight but know something is different about them and try to blend in but always know that the land isn’t their true home. It is said that they cannot have successful marriages because they do not belong to the land.

Don’t go and next time she visits in a dream rebuke her in Jesus name. She is trying to make demonic covenant with you. She wanted you to sow to her as an agreement.

The Marine Kingdom is mostly WOMEN - SIRENS (MAMI WATA)
The women who mated with the fallen angels and bore the giants
And the King of the Marine Kingdom is Leaviathan - the sea serpent - which dwells deep beneath the Mariana Trench
And they mostly get hold of you thru the water - or Tarot readings! Be very weary of women TAROT READERS!
Honestly sounds like a bad moral one of conformity. Great power comes great responsibility he could have used his new abilities to benefit his village so they would no longer be afraid of him but instead succumbed to public pressure and ignorance. At least thats my interpretation. Regardless i am dying to see the new movie called mami wata that premiered this year. Hopefully it will be made available soon it looked ao beautiful!
Where is the movie premiere?
There is no new movie called Mami wata it is a west African tale

Be sensitive. A white woman's voice telling a black woman's story sours the taste. Use a sisters voice next time
Sad as the case may be,the reality is that black people suffer from internalized hate, or are stuck in the saviour psychosis, to tell this story in it's honor
If a sister were tell the story,it wouldn't have half the airtime
Or it would be discredited as wishful thinking,a glory we once held but can only relive in oral tradition, save for the name calling 'witch'
But the story is out here now, regardless of how flawed, historically innacurate as it is depicted
