    Find the Matching Blog Post HERE: www.tamarasjoy.com/harvest-apron-sewing-pattern/ (there also seems to be some confusion as to what measurements are lined up when making the main portion of the apron. Line up the two 40" edges from the two larger pieces that you cut out, sew along the 40" edge to make one piece of fabric that will become your aprons main piece. I hope that clears things up.)

    Thanks so much for sharing this pattern! As the holidays approach, I’ve been dreaming of a way to reduce the number of times I need to go up and down the ladder to decorate the Christmas tree. I think this is the ticket! Thank you for your time and effort. Much appreciated.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have just finished making my first gathering apron to give to my lovely neighbour for Christmas. Next, I will make one for my sister. They both have vegetable gardens (lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes, beans, etc.) and fruit trees (mostly citrus) - we're in New Zealand. I found the tutorial very easy to follow and I LOVE the finished apron. Thanks, again.🎄👍

    This was super simple to make thanks to your amazing tutorial. The blog measurements and pictures were also incredibly helpful. I love that the pocket is one solid piece as I feel like this increases the strength for carrying but if I were to make it again, I’d probably figure out how to cut a bit of an angle to the square to increase the pocket capacity, if that makes sense. Regardless, I absolutely love this. I made it as a gift and I’m sure my mom will love it. Thank you!

    Very nice tutorial, thank you for making it.
    The harvest apron im sewing is for my little sister, living in Hungary. Her family has a garden and they produce all kinds of vegetables, mostly for domestic use.
    That includes green peas, rhubarb, arugula, spinach, lettuce, garlic and onion, beans, radish, carrot, zeller, gooseberry, black currant, raspberry and strawberry and possibly pumpkins at the end of the season.
    Plus elderflower in May, she loves elderflower :)

    Thank you so much for making this video! I just finished making one for my sister! She's always collecting and harvesting things from her garden, but I think she'll mostly use it for gourds and cucumbers. On a side note, I found that you can also use this apron to harvest cats, but they won't be happy about it.

    I have made egg gathering aprons and have been looking for a gathering apron video. I love this apron. I do enjoy your straight forward approach and clear video as well as how you show the sewing lines. I am 70 and fairly new so I do find your video a bit too fast. I am thankful I can replay and replay. The only issue I have is I have no idea what a blog is or how it works. I am hoping I am able to navigate so I can locate the measurements. I do very much enjoy when people put the measurements on the screen as I can save a screen shot. Thank you for not repeating yourself over and over. Thank you for showing us what you are making first! Thank you for the neat turning tool

Hope that helps, so thankful you like this video tutorial and happy sewing!

    Hello, I enjoyed your tutorial, it is not too fast and easy to follow along. Unfortunately, I will not be gathering anything this year. However, I will be making the apron to give as a gift for my mom. She will be harvesting corn, okra, squash, tomatoes, potatoes, greens, etc. from her garden.

      I am so glad you are here Lutisha! I hope this one is a good seller for you!!! If you want to save on fabric you could do one layer for the apron and create a casing by folding in a hem instead. The only thing you would need is a fabric where you liked both sides. And perhaps something a bit sturdier. But don’t use canvas fabric. I made my prototype with canvas and it was too thick!!!! 😳☺️ happy sewing!

      Ooh! I love it. I agree that some items need that waterproof lining. I was even thinking that a bag could be clipped inside with office clips. Even a rectangular plastic bin would fit nicely for those mushier items! I was considering that for raspberry picking.

    How much material do I need? And what are measurements for added pieces?

  • @genellejohnson
    @genellejohnson 20 днів тому

    Here’s what I’ll do next one:
    * For the zigzagged rectangle, baste on a piece of tear away with the rectangle drawn on. The sides are 1/4” from the center. This was not made clear in the video until the next step. Zigzag 1/4” on each side then zigzag across the ends.
    * Gathering - in addition to marking the 1/2 point, I will also mark 1/4 and 1/8 on both the skirt and the waist band to evenly distribute the gathers. When attaching the waistband, fold the French seam to the inside. I will top stitch the French seam to the inside first next time.
    * Either make the ties one strip or tietack the two pieces together so they can’t get pulled into the casing.
    * My waist band and tie’s weren’t the same height. Next time I’ll assemble them together before attaching the skirt.
    Thanks for a great idea!!

  • @kathleenmccarthy91
    @kathleenmccarthy91 9 місяців тому

    I know you did a tight zigzag for the ties in the front but won't that look unfinished and start to fray eventually? I apologize if I missed the part where you talked about it.
