Thank God the weather's holding.🙏 The roads are packed with tractors, wagons, manure tankers, semi dump trucks and tandem dumpers hauling chopped corn. Feed goes in, manure comes back out.👍West side of the state is in high gear.

Thanks for another great video Kip.
Thanks for the drone footage. Is always enjoyable. Gives you a good view of what is going on in the field. Thanks much.
Busy busy busy time when haying. Cutting and raking and loading wagons and then filling the silos. Lots of teamwork there. I have memories from silo filling. Hard work. Lots of machinery to keep going. Wow.
Love your silage wagons. Not many farmers using them anymore. I can see why you buy up what you can get your hands on. Yours are in excellent shape. My compliments to all of you.
Those silo machines take a lot of hard work. I see one of yours is down for repairs. Not many guys work on them anymore. Have you ever thought about going to silage pits????
Thanks for everything Kip. Be careful in the heat.

We used to drop a rope down from the outside and tie it on to the unloader to stop it from spinning and control where it sat at the top. Only trick was to get it untied and still where you wanted it.

Some nice green iron. I agree, they don't make things like they did anymore....Definitely worth rebuilding it, it's in real good condition. Love the way you salute/talk to the herd. Awesome drone shots💪 👍👍🍻

Haylage looks good. You probably already know this having a John Deere chopper if you switch the blower pulleys around so the blower spins faster to get the haylage to back of the box easier. When your knives are sharp and the cutter bar is set right keep the chopper full it chops it up finer. One farmer I worked for would chop hay with a 8920 case ih and I do believe it was a gehl 1065. He would be out chopping hay and if the rpm’s would drop down below like 900 on the 1000rpm readout for the pto he would drop a gear or 2 his neighbor chopped for him and just kept it full never downshifted nice chopped haylage. God bless. Have a safe harvest

I know it’s a different engine, but for reference we overhauled engine in 4440 and a 4650 It ended up costing $20k each. Expensive, but still worth it... that’s a nice 4430. I wouldn’t wait until it throws a rod bearing. Get it done sooner

When I was a kid we had one unloader for 3 silos so when a silo went empty we had to take apart the unloader and haul it up to the top of the next silo before the next feeding. Our silage operation was a little less impressive than yours also. Dad chopped with a 1 row chopper on a 4020. We had 2 Gehl wagons that were shuttled around with a JD 60 tractor and a 3010 ran the blower.

Hay that is "too green" can spontaneously combust in a hay barn. Why does it not when put in a silo?

Gotta have 16% oxygen to support fire. Because it packs in there's no atmosphere in the product but it makes heat and cooks. My best guess.

You mentioned multiple times that you never put first new cutting from new seeding up for silage. Do your put up for hay because low protein or fear of rock/Debree? Just wondering?
