@Marius Periwinkle Ehhh, they're not that bad. The whole cast was great, the music as well (it's Howard Shore, duh) and visually I think they were beautiful as well, despite the overuse of CGI. People are way too harsh on them, partially because of the high standards set by LotR.
@@evanus Hobbit would be a lot better if they focused more on the main characters and not pointless side quests like all this Gandalf quest to fight with Sauron, and Tauriel and Legolas. I think it would be better if Smaug was more mentioned and Bolg was a villian instead of Azog. And if Beorn had a bigger part of course. But they went with Radagast's character, Thorin&Azog backstory, Tauriel, Kili and Legolas love triangle and Thranduil hatred for dwarves. If they actually spent time on the characters maybe the goodbye scene from the Battle of the Five Armies wouldn't look so ridiculous.
I was no fan of fantasy or the Hobbit/LOTR books/movies until I just happened upon The Desolation of Smaug on TV. I started watching it, loved Freeman's portrayal of Bilbo, and stopped what I was watching and went to An Unexpected Adventure, and binge watched the 3 movies in one day (Did the same for the Godfather movies LOL). From there I finally watched the LOTR movies last year after watching the 3 Hobbit movies. But my favorite will always be the Hobbit movies. All the actors did an awesome job, Ian McKellen across all 6 movies, of course, but Martin Freeman's portrayal of Bilbo is my most favorite part of the 6 movies. Freeman and Ian Holm make it completely believable that they are the same character, at different times in their life. Brilliant. The Hobbit movies are one of my top favorite movie series of all time, behind the Godfather series of movies
I've had a major crush on Martin Freeman since I first saw him on The Office. It became more realized when he played John Watson in Sherlock but I remember being about 7 and thinking "hey that boy is cute" lmfao

As both a huge lover of the Holmes stories and a diehard fan of Tolkien, it's amazing how one man's career can be wrapped up in my childhood love of literature. His Watson to Cumberbatchs' Holmes is the stuff of TV legend.
Martin Freeman was the Bilbo I'd always had in my head, decades before I even knew who Martin Freeman was. Of all the potential that trilogy wasted it was the squandering of his perfect casting that's upset me the most.
Hitchhikers still my favourite of his. Perfect character for Martin. Also how is Hobbit 8 years old now? Man, time flies when you're disappointed. But a running theme of Freeman's career is being slightly distracted and chary of adventures, so he was also the perfect Bilbo.
There is something special about this man's acting and character that blows me away every time. Fargo was one of my favorite pieces he was a part of and I'm really really glad that this video is out there.
I love Martin Freeman and think he is a marvellous actor. He always embodies a role vs just, as he put it, "emoting all over". Each character he plays, including the fantasy one, feels real, like someone you could meet up with for a coffee or run into around a corner. It's interesting seeing so many of his roles illuminated in this way and to see how different each of them are with his brilliant portrayal making each feel alive.

I think one or two fuggs are allowed to still be monetized, not in the beginning if the video tho
King of deadpan comedy? 🤔 Hmm
I was the 800th person to like your comment!
Martin not wanting to be late for dinner and Bilbo saying that adventures make you late for dinner in a distasteful way, haha. It was meant to be.
I never noticed until you pointed it out. It wpuld be even funnier if Martin didn’t know about it either
This guy as Bilbo was beautiful. I cant imagine anyone else playing him. He just captures him so well I love it.
His performance in Fargo is unreal. Everyone needs to see it.
Stanley: Did I stutter?
Martin: Did I f***?
a contemporary classic.

The Office UK vs US be like, Amirite?
PJ & Del Toro were right though. I couldn't imagine Bilbo as anyone else. I read the books long before the movie and when I saw him in the trailers, it was precisely who I had pictured.
honestly before the Hobbit movies came out i didn't know that Martin Freeman or Benedict Cumberbatch existed but now i'm glad i know
Y E S AGREED
Agreed!
I'm surprised he did not sneak the finger in this video!
Flav oh he did we just haven’t found it yet.
There's a whole series of clips in the Hobbit behind the scenes discs of him giving the finger. It's hilarious!
@@thewolfpack7009 i've spent hours looking and i have yet to find it. if anyone finds it please let me know.
He really likes to drop the f bomb tho
He did.. we just gotta find it
Why is nobody talking about nativity that movie is a cultural reset
i was waiting for it for the whole video
I adore Nativity ❤️

Everyone's talking about sherlock, the hobbit, and the mcu
I just wanna talk about Fargo
Fargo was the first time I remember thinking "Wow, this guy is great." Ghost Stories and Breeders were fun, but whenever I think of Fargo I think of Martin Freeman. Such a good show.
Same
I just wanna talk about Nativity lol
Thank god he finally got Bilbo. Best part of the whole trilogy imo...
@Marius Periwinkle Ehhh, they're not that bad. The whole cast was great, the music as well (it's Howard Shore, duh) and visually I think they were beautiful as well, despite the overuse of CGI. People are way too harsh on them, partially because of the high standards set by LotR.
@@evanus I agree. Although they are too long and isn't as fun second time watching.
@@evanus
Hobbit would be a lot better if they focused more on the main characters and not pointless side quests like all this Gandalf quest to fight with Sauron, and Tauriel and Legolas.
I actually love the Hobbit movies.
Sherlock is a masterpiece! The writing is on another level! And the acting......the acting is breathtaking
I'm actually mortified he didn't even mention "Nativity!"
Yessss same!!!!
"He's a very underwhelmed man." idk why but that tickled me

"I'm quite easily grumpy."
A tshirt I would wear
I read this as he said it lol
The slogan of every British person
“And she didn’t mean a therapist!” Martin is so sweet and kind.
Funny that both John Krasinski and Martin Freeman auditioned for the Garreth and Dwight roles but then both ended up getting the Jim and Tim roles.
I've had a major crush on Martin Freeman since I first saw him on The Office. It became more realized when he played John Watson in Sherlock but I remember being about 7 and thinking "hey that boy is cute" lmfao
Oh my gosh same! He's just got such an awesome personality

You talked about Black Panther but none of his three movies with Edgar Wright...? Come on.
Biringvad exactly! Especially World’s End
Im sure he talked about *every* film he's done and they just trimmed it down to this
It’s Edgar Wright not Edgard Wright
@@joshnagra8485 Corrected it now! The phone autocorrected it to the Norwegian spelling of the name.
Biringvad ok
Andy Serkis who portrayed Gollum in the Hobbit movies with him was also in Black Panther. You could say that in that movie they were the 2 Tolkien white guys. I'll be here all week, try the fish.

I really wished he would have talked about his role in World's End. I really loved him in that movie and i would love to hear him talk about his experience on that set and his relationship with Simon Peg.
Matin has this irresistible kindness in his eyes, and smooth voice that makes him so likable !
I loved the bit about "southern fried portions" of food in Atlanta. He is spot on.
I feel like I‘m seeing a lot of Martin on UA-cam lately and I’m absolutely loving it
He's in like half of all the movies and tv series that I love. One of the most accomplished and respected British actors of all time.
"My mrs. at the time" 💔💔💔💔
Still heart broken they broke up. I love him and Amanda
💯
Martin in ‘Nativity!’ was just iconic. How have they not mentioned this
How did they skip over The World's End and skipping working with the brilliance that is Edgar Wright?
Right? He could have talked about The Cornetto Trilogy!
I know, would've liked more input on how it was filming all three of them
Because it's the worst movie in the Trilogy.
@@Rensune he's in all three of them...

I clicked on this video because of his role in Sherlock, but I am amazed at his talent spectrum in big movies and tv shows. He is such a great actor
I'm loving the fact that everyone is pissed their favorite Martin Freeman movie wasn't talked about. Just shows how much his performances touched people, even the ones in otherwise bad or unsuccessful movies. Here's to hoping there will be many more films that touch many more hearts.
Freeman seems a down-to-earth, solid bloke. I really like him in this interview and I really like him in the roles he's played so far.
Love how he talks about parenting. Its so accurate. I love my kids but I have times where I get overwhelmed and make mistakes
Martin Freeman: the definition of underrated
Have been a huge fan of him since the first season of Sherlock. He’s still my favourite actor to this date. So charming and so talented.
As both a huge lover of the Holmes stories and a diehard fan of Tolkien, it's amazing how one man's career can be wrapped up in my childhood love of literature. His Watson to Cumberbatchs' Holmes is the stuff of TV legend.
He sounds like such an average English guy I’m so glad he’s so down to earth and never let any of the Hollywood shenanigans get to him
Fargo season one was one of the best season of a television show I've ever seen.
I agree
Personally, I prefer season 2.

He is such an Amazing Actor. Watching his interviews makes me realize how witty, smart and down to earth guy he is and watch out he is aging backwards
Hobbit, hitchhikers guide and sherlock are all my fav books/movies and I love how he’s in all of them 😂
Mycroft be like:-
"This is what John was doing when you faked your death for 2 years". Brother dear
Mycroft having someone put an interview together for sherlock about john is just a delicious idea.
Martin's trying to kill me with this yacht daddy look.
Martin Freeman was the Bilbo I'd always had in my head, decades before I even knew who Martin Freeman was. Of all the potential that trilogy wasted it was the squandering of his perfect casting that's upset me the most.
Imagine him meeting Jude Law in marvel universe, both using a crane for some sherlock/sherlock holmes reference...
Martin: "I felt vaguely successful, you know what i mean?"
me: No Martin, I have no clue what you mean!
Martin: It was clear (Benedict and I) had chemistry, it crackled a bit.

*Chokes on air*
I MISS THEMM SO BADLY
I mean,
Your not wrong
I know that Martin said somewhere that he really doesn’t like the Johnlock ship but THEY’RE SO GOOD TOGETHER HOW COULD YOU NOT SHIP THEM
Hitchhikers still my favourite of his. Perfect character for Martin. Also how is Hobbit 8 years old now? Man, time flies when you're disappointed. But a running theme of Freeman's career is being slightly distracted and chary of adventures, so he was also the perfect Bilbo.
Hmm. He stopped talking about Sherlock after Series 3. Wonder what THAT tells us.
Me too, boo. Me too.
Martin is one of those actors that seems like a perfect fit for some characters and you can't picture anyone else playing them
There is something special about this man's acting and character that blows me away every time.
