    I use a computer 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week, and have for almost 40 years. I do really like the MX Ergo. It has drawbacks. Short battery life for me (need to charge once a week). No storage location for the unifying receiver (but I never unplug that so don't care). Standard USB charging instead of USB-c - but don't really care. The major drawback right now for me is that it bricked yesterday after less than 2 years. I've used the older M570 ones for far, far longer than that. But this one is more comfortable. I've never had hand cramps (like I do with a regular mouse) nor any other pain issues. And never had carpal tunnel. And the time I had a pinched nerve in my neck, the fact that I could pick it up and put it and my forearm on a stack of books was great and allowed me to keep working while physical therapy eventually took care of the pinched nerve. Just wish it hadn't turned into a brick yesterday.

      I use my computer around 3-5 hours a day and I only need to charge it every other month or so. Also for me the M570's mouse2-button broke (it occasionally double clicks or doesn't click at all) after using it for 9 years but otherwise no trouble. After it broke I bought an MX Ergo that I'm still using after 5 years, nothing wrong with it. What happened with yours?

    Thank you for actually using the mouse and showing how it works. Most of these videos just show pictures of the product and don't show someone using it. That helps a lot.

      For real... It's because they want to sell the product (even when they say they're not sponsored) and the main drawback of these mice is how un-precise they are compared to traditional mice (mouses)... so they prefer to highlight all the advantages instead.

    I've been a PC gamer since the first games came out on PC. Been using a trackball for MANY years. Like some people have said here, it is GREAT for gaming! Much better than gaming mice and I have used a couple of those. I'm placing an order for this new Logitech trackball asap, as I have been waiting for years for an upgrade to the M570. Good gaming to you all!

      @@vu_derArchitekt Not the original poster but I too use the M570 for my gaming (it's broken and I need to buy something new). When using a "normal" mouse what does your thumb do? This trackball uses the thumb to move the cursor around. See if you can go to a PC shop and try it out. I find it easy to use the thumb to move the trackball while keeping my index and middle fingers on the left and right mouse buttons respectively. You get used to not moving your fingers when you move your thumb.

    Been using an M570 with my laptop for quite a while, and got hooked. Went back to a conventional mouse when it died. Got this MX Ergo to replace it. For daily tasks a trackball for me is a much better companion than a conventional mouse. It just feels so much better, and for precise work this one especially is really good. Your thumb will hate you the first few days, but after that, you'll love it.

    The toggle button is actually to switch between the TWO bluetooth channels. and you can have active at the same time. And the devices DO NOT need to be on the same need network. You can set up the FLOW function which allows you to arrange the two different devices synced to the mouse like displays. And move to the edge of one devices screen cause it to automatically switch to the other device on the second blue tooth channel.
    if you want to swtich to the 2GHz reciever you simply plug it in.

      Hey do you have any trackball mouse recommendations? And do grips(palm/claw/fingertip grips) with a normal mouse make a difference when switching to track balls? If it helps with recommendations, I use a claw grip with a regular mouse and play league of legends more than FPS games. I’m afraid of developing CPS so I’m considering at trackballs

    • @Hatchi19008
      @Hatchi19008 5 років тому +3

      @@catsoffon so, personally I would recommend the MX Ergo because it is adjustable and has a very high quality. Unfortunately, I do not know any direct "grips" but with a trackball mouse you should always try to put the whole hand on it. but basically you can always use them the way you like best. And yes, it makes a difference if you switch to a trackball mouse. Your grip and your mustle-memory will be a bit funny at first, but just like everything in life, you get used to it. For me, there is no chance what so ever, that I switch to another mouse then a Trackball. And I need to say, in all the years i´ve got like 10 different trackball mouses and everytime a new one comes out, they will be bettter then the one before.

    used a logi trackball for over a decade , when it died , the only option was still the exact same device i bought way back , mice had evolved , higher dpi , more buttons, ergonomics better etc. so i switched back to a mouse not wanting to get a device that was released 12 years ago at that point, mailed them , asked when they were going to show some love to the trackball considering they are one of the few that build em, no updates planned, One month after getting the mouse. a new model trackball came out.... this is now again more then a decade ago , had several mice in that period and never looked at logitech again , this one might bring me back when my current mouse breaks

      It's a great upgrade. He doesn't talk much about materials or weight, but the MX Ergo is MUCH heavier than the M570, which helps it stay on your desk even during maximum clumsy. Also, the palm rest is rubberized and the entire mouse feels cool to the touch like an object with a decent amount of mass should. Additionally, the mouse ball has a smoother feel to it and closed ball design acquires gunk a lot more slowly so you should only have to clean it once or twice a month, even if you eat at your desk everyday.

    I had the original way back when, the white model with the red ball. The problem was the normal grease and grime from your fingers would transfer to the ball and then to the inside of the device causing skipping and a general decrease in performance, requiring regular removal and cleaning of the ball and the whatever was contacting the ball on the inside of the device. This is more a niche product. I went back to the then top of the line MX 1000 and was happy. Daily drive is now an MX Master, couldn't be happier.

    An excellent review, thanks for the video...
    I am planning to buy this, but is it compatible with Mac OS?? How about the bluetooth ? Can this be used with MacBook Pro with bluetooth ?? I really need to use that as I have limited USB.
    Is the trackball portable enough?? I have difficulty with using the laptop trackpad.
    Also does the ball fall out?? The ball in my Kensignton Expert Trackball drops out, that is big drawback for portability.

    Not seeing much of a difference between this and the M570. A $50 price difference for a built-in rechargeable battery, 20 degree tilt, and bluetooth? I have a M570, I use it for my music writing, it sits on top of my Motif XF8 synthesizer so I can use Cubase 10 Pro and Vienna Symphonic Library (among other music tools) and the only minor nuisance is replacing a single double A battery once a year.

      in the beginning your muscles are bit sore, but like many exercises you do again and again your thumb will get used to it. I find the learning curve and initial soreness worth it to relieve and reduce the pain of carpal tunnel. Maybe i'm a little bias. Personally, after getting used to it, I've played a 10 hour MMORPG marathon and not had a problem.

    I totally disagree with you. Gaming with a trackball is 1000x better then any old mouse...even the gaming ones. So its NOT a negative point towards it. Its more precise and you aren't moving your hand all over the place like a fool
    trying to turn around.

    Why is the video called "60 Days With The MX ERGO - Long Term Review" ?

    • @HaggenKennedy
      @HaggenKennedy 4 роки тому

      I read your question and just ran Lightroom to check. It's really like a regular mouse. If you just click a slider and use the trackball, it won't do anything (you'll just see the mouse arrow go where you trackballed it to). Only when you click a slider AND hold the left mouse button, then you can use the trackball to move the slider back and forth.
