So, I watch classical guitar lessons all the time and today, just today, they finally recommend one of your videos. Sometimes you tube sucks! And also, very good point on the pinky. I never thought about using it also. I will definitely do these, except maybe easier arpeggios.
Heyhey, yeah I know right? :D UA-cam is weird, but now you are here. I just published a new video where I talk a lot about pinky again, maybe check it out if this is a topic you are interested in! ua-cam.com/video/jBxf_WGZug0/v-deo.html
You have a very natural and comfortable teaching and speaking style. Well done! In all my years of study I have never seen or practiced the wholistic style of warmup you demonstrated, especially the ones that didn’t directly involve the use of the guitar such as arm rolling, finger flaring and the like. Your warmup tips are very much appreciated and please, keep them coming! 😊👏
Thank you! Yes, actually I could have cut out my mistakes of the video to look more professional or flawless, but my mistakes support the natural teaching style I want to show. Because - especially when I start to pracice - myhands are less coordinated, so I make lots of mistakes too. That's perfectly natural. :) I also don't really like those lessons where you can't relate to the teacher because they doesn't relatable or actig so godlike you just can't believe they are human too :D Glad for your comment! Have a nice day! :)
Brilliant! Always a great experience. So much knowledge here. Informative but very inspiring. I play what I would call bastardized guitar when compared to the original classical standard. I have always had a deep respect and admiration for classical guitar. Here I have found the perfect instructor to inspire me to venture into this wonderful complex world of music. I have learned so much. THANK you again.
Great perspective on why I need to re-structure time and my mindset towards practice, as well as the value of simple warm up routines. Lots to work on. This gives me a new sense of direction. 👍
Wow I just discovered your channel which is a blessing! I've been playing on and off over the years by myself and got stuck/progression is now very slow. I think I need some solid basic practice exercises (ex: fingers placement, etc), can't skip that part because eventually, it will impede progress. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
I recently found your videos and they really are great. Greetings and thank you for making life easier for those of us who love the guitar and don't know how to start.
Great video! For me the main issue is to select a few warm-up exercises that last around 5 minutes in total. Like many of us, I usually have only 15 to 30 minutes for my daily practice...(excepting the weekends and holidays) so I can"t spend too much time in the warm-up. I would add that being consistent in these short daily sessions is what makes the basis of my progress over time, rather than very long practice sessions, which are much less frequent in my case.
These are great! I feel like I’m going to have too much fun warming up which will lead to a 4 hour practice session and I am all for it. (p.s idk if 4 hours is average but if it is, I haven’t been practicing enough)
Hello Beatrix! I wanted to ask for some advise. I began playing guitar by myself like 4 years ago, never warming up but a few times and, eventually, I hurted myself. I've droped the instrument a few times those years in ordear to heal but, now that I wanted to return, I wanted to do it right. Do You believe that warming up like this might help for someone that ha already been in pain several times for not warming up? Love your content, never leave us! ❤️
Hey! Warmup is a very important part of your everyday routine. If you practice 1-2 hours, make sure you spent 10-20 mins with warm up. Let's say 10 min without guitar, 10 min with it. Just like in the video. Some people have more flexible hands, some have less. It's not a bad thing or not a disadvantage to have less flexible muscles, it's something you need to learn to handle. I think at this point a nice warm up routine could solve most of your problems. I also advice you to really pay attention on reaxing your muscles during practice, otherwise it's easy to get hurt by that too.
@@beatrixguitar Thanks for answering! I'll try and push me to warm up before every session. Any advise on tension? I know how to move on the guitar but tension, I believe, is one the main issues. Even when concious, it's kinda difficult. Maybe that has contributed to hurting myself.
@@Elojoquenoparpadea22 yes, could be the main problem. I'll make a video about it soon, but you can see in this and my oter instructional video that I make sure to release all the tension after every movement. that's something you ave to practice into the pieces. I'll talk about it more in a video soon!
I find myself starting off slowly with a metronome (perhaps a spider crawl), but eventually I build up speed and change spider crawl to hammer-ons and pull-offs (which is more of a technique building exercise). Only after an hour or so of hammer-ons and pull-offs do I attempt speed drills. (This is generally my morning routine, in which I cover no repertoire, which I typically do later in the day.) Am I making a mistake by having my warm-ups bleed into my technique building? It seems to be working, but I wonder if I am doing the right thing.

Wow, I never really thought about the pinky finger affecting my ring finger. I will pay attention to that for my warm ups. Great video!
Thank you Beatrix🎉😊
I really like your suggestions for warming up to play! I'm going to use it.
Smart observations. Great ideas. I'm convinced
