I have to say I read all the comments to this video and I thought to reply for one reason. I own the I30N Performance so I speak from experience to read the comments people have left regarding this car they seem to put a downer on this Hyundia which is not exactly true why everyone is dumping on this fantastic wee car. Yes I have the March 2018 model the one in this video was the 2019 model had a slight upgrade.
The problems I experienced were I had the alarm problem got that fixed, 5th & 6th gear synchro rings sticking I got that fixed under warranty, the ECU was replaced under warranty, I did not have the head liner wiring rattle problem, or widow rattle or phone call problems, I still have the radio problem as it will on occasional conditions just turn off then reboot, it does not happen as often and I don't really bother about it. The car seats are velour material like a felt nap I never had the problem spoken about in the video and the place where I park my arse while driving still looks as good as the day I got the car from new. Front head lights still fog up got those replaced under warranty and they still fog up on cold days so don't know what's happening there though it does clear with time this only happens in the colder weather conditions. I hope the front day light running / indicator lights never go faulty as that piece of plastic costs £1000 + vat per fog light, ouch.
My car is now out of warranty just had it's 5th service roughly £180 plus one years breakdown cover thrown in so not bad really. The car is solidly built I have had my car sitting for 10 weeks as I broke my leg it was in a cast when I was able to drive again the battery was flat so I charged the car battery threw it back into the car and pressed the start stop button and vroom away it went never misses a heart beat.
Don't read to much into other people lambasting this wee car or believe what other write regarding the reliability of the Hyundai i30N, I'm keeping my i30n for a very long time as it is both reliable and trouble free it has 70,000 miles on the clock and it goes like a rocket, I'm telling you it is the best fun car to drive.
This is to @PabloM5 I have mud flaps on my I30n in fact I have a full body kit, and OZ Alloys Induction kit, a few other treats under the hood makes my car look & sound different not by much as you wouldn't notice as it is very subtle no remap as it doesn't need it, I like the mud flaps on my car other people have told me they look ghastly take them off no I'm keeping them on as I like them.
Finally. I don't usually write reviews but I own this car in question and I know it is a well screwed together car it wall last you as long as any other car on the road and maybe fair bit longer.
Buy this car you definitely wont be disappointed, and as they have been discontinued by Hyundai so from 2024 you wont be able to buy any more because of the Euro 7 emissions regulations for greener hybrids family orientated SUV type vehicles so these I30N's they will become quite a rare car on the open road I think I have seen five I30N cars in total so it is good that you don't see very many on the open road, everyone looks at car and I get asked questions while filling up at a gas station so everyone want to look and chat about the car it its amazing the response I get from folks it does turn heads that's for sure.
Finally the front hood weighs a ton I am amazed at the weight as usually South Korean made cars are light not the Hyundai I30N, not bad for a construction company that was founded by Chung Ju Yung in 1947.
Sorry for the long essay but I had a lot to say. Peace, respect.

man reading your comment put really smile on my face. i bought my n last year 2023 dct version and i cant say how much fun im having with the car, its my daily car and it can be regular car but with switch of a button you unleash this beast. there are ofc some things i dont like, like for example poor front lights, sound systen, materials inside cabin and some squeaking noise from back of the car during sporty drive but i wanted to buy this car for many years and finaly was able to afford it and i can only recommend to anyone who is thinking about i30n to just get the car. everytime i walk away from my car i have to turn back and look how sexy that car look. i just love it.

Fuel issues were with very first cars late 2017 (67). Alarm issue can be if you back car too close to a wall. The rear parking sensors can cause the alarm to go off as they for part of the perimeter alarm system, I think. Seat creases on drivers bolster is common and normally pretty bad. Infotainment system can get too hot especially on sunny days causing it to switch off. 5th and 8th gear issue can be due to gearbox oil very cold along with selector . A very good car to drive but wheel hop really bad especially if tyres are cold. For similar money a used Audi S3 will leave the Hyundai for dead because it needs 4 wheel drive to plant the power. However on a track the Hyundai can be more fun and so much nicer than a Golf GTI (even club sport not very good). 7 out of 10 seems fair and the I30N is cheaper to insure. Yes I owned a I30N and miss it.

Just subscribed, I have a 22 plate Kona N, great car but I do occasionally hear a rattle, appears to be around the dash/windscreen area or possibly the head up display, but it is a far better built car than my AMG A35 was, that was the worst car I’d ever owned, it rattled from everywhere and the Mercedes dealer never managed to fix it to my satisfaction, I’ve actually owned 4 Mercedes cars since 2012 and have had problems with all of them.

    • @thefinestdetail7619
      @thefinestdetail7619 2 роки тому +1

My guess would be all the electronics inside the car it’s rammed full of gimmicks and controls plus they tried hard to keep it a normal car when you want it to be so there’s still a lot of sound insulation etc where the likes of type r and rs cars throw that away for a rawcus feel to the car the N uses electronics to change the feeling plus the likes of electric seats etc all add weight. They could of stripped some weight by added thinks like aluminium bonnet and things like that but, that adds the £££ on top and they wanted to keep the cost down. So I think it’s the lesser of two evils either charge what Volkswagen and Honda charge or stick with the weight and it still has amazing capabilities.

    These things are junk.
They are so cheaply made, seats fall apart. Dash rattles. Doors rattle. Windows rattle. The battery fails when parked up for longer than a week. The steering wheel marks just by looking at it. The infotainment screen is soft plastic and flexes when you press it. The paint is so thin it chips just from cold weather. The turbo actuator arm linkage will fail. The exhaust manifold will rattle. The bushings fail before 30k miles.
Looks great, but an absolute load of cheap plastic rubbish.

There are a lot of people in the american forums complaining about all those aspects when they get over 50k miles.

I'm never buying a German car again after owning my N. The most exciting car I've owned.

Probably would, but it would cost you £10-15000 more for the privilege with higher insurance and running costs and you would just be another follower and susceptible to the power of influence and advertising.
And yes. I've had both, but a GTi rather than an R, and they are nothing but boring overpriced and expensive to maintain. The dealers only want to talk to you if you have a wad of fifties sticking out of your pocket and don't want to know you after you've handed over the cash. My S3 cost over a £1000 a year just to keep on the road with repairs and when I finally thought everything was sorted, the cylinder head decided to crack.
In hindsight, I don't remember being enthralled by the driving experiences of any of the German cars I've owned and people just thought I was rich coz I owned an Audi or BMW. People want to talk to you about your car when you have a German marque but shut down almost instantly when I mention I have a i30N.
The guy who developed this car was the same guy who developed BMW M cars. He's done a great job.

BTW. I wasn't talking about outright performance. I was talking about driving experience, so who's the fool now, Mr know-it-all?
