I'm one of those who just got back from a small holiday, device-free and now catching up on your videos. Trying to cram them as I head out again next week. Love the blooms and the excitement that comes with discovering spikes! Enjoy your garden party with your daughter.
Hi I've just recently started collecting orchids. Love your channel. Last weekend went to Harrogate orchid Show, Burnham's were there they had Disas at the show for sale. I bought a nelly Isla it's beautiful. 😊
I have mold on almost all the stakes, for some reason it likes the green and blue stained stakes and almost never the black stained. it even grows on plastic stakes. It doesn't seem to effect the plants at all. Spores however could trigger an allergic reaction in some people. (cleaning doesn't help 😁when the stake dries the mold returns after a few days)
12:48 Maybe this disa orchid is trying to attract aliens? 👽😀 I heard that disa seeds can germinate on damp sphagnum moss, but it probably needs more than that. 17:22 My new Hibiki currently has two buds and two keikis with buds. It's about 1/6 the size of this one though.
Concerning Disa being not popular.. That might be more related to the orchid nursery's not selling them much (in Eu at least). Yet can't know what to wish for if no one isn't there to introduce them. xD Almost killed my Hibiki cause it got spidermites - that idiot decided to bloom for me to prove it's zero survival instinct instead of putting it's all in new growth.

I also have mould on the metal parts of the shelves (the bars) but not so much on the plastic.
@@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai I noticed 😁a good clean with bleach will keep it away for a while but it will come back
With the high humidity, I suppose some mould is inevitable.

How do I get my mini orchid to spike had it two years now and it hasn’t bloom since any suggestions?
Try a drop in temp - put it somewhere cooler for 4 weeks or so.

This is my 3rd (or 4th) Hibiki and by far the best.
Nice blooms
Thanks.
