Saving money is addictive honestly. Sometimes it’s hard at first but it feels good watching the bank account grow. The bigger the savings the better I feel about sacrificing the unnecessary spending!
Kourttney L it took me a while honestly, I used to be tempted to use it whenever I saw something I liked. I’d say oh I’ll use just $50 and spoil myself! No girl, what helped me? Honestly every time I see something I want really bad, I think to myself, is this going to benefit me? Is this going to push me further for my goal? If it pushes me further, it’s not worth it. It actually feels like I’m letting my “future self” down when I touch my savings. It’s money you worked hard for!
I agree. I’m super addicted to saving money, especially when I was working a lot. I would be too tired and busy to spend money. I saved a tonne. Now I’ve dropped my job cause uni is super intense, & I’m always stress eating and buying KFC & Mc’D’s. It’s sooo hard. I’m sooo mad how I’ve kinda slipped off with my savings and spending sooo much 🙄🙄
I definitely needed these tips. I have a bad spending habit ($200 AT LEAST per day) and I realized it’s due to boredom. Thanks again for the great tips!
In order for me to focus on NOT spending, I focus on other things. Working out, my budget, keeping myself busy with daily chores. They all keep me from distracting myself with stupid purchases. I also pack my lunch bag the day before and set my coffee machine up the night before. It’s helped me a lot for the past two weeks I’ve only spent $20 on eating out and that’s really good for me.
That's what I do now minus the working out lol.. keep it going my plan is 2 retire at an early age and 2 stop living 4rm check 2 check. Stop making the rich richer they don't care about us "small people's anyway". Good luck don't give up or give in
I did a spending freeze during the first quarter of 2019. I wanted to be mindful of the reasons I was spending money and my triggers. I learned a LOT about myself and use the things I have vs just buying something new because I’m bored tired or lonely. Everytime I saw something I had the urge to buy, I wrote it down. I then decided I needed to invest in a 2 new pairs of versatile pants. During my freeze I was able to save up for a trip to Puerto Rico ($800 yep). This became a lifestyle, I spend much more wisely now.
Girl you so right we spend way too much "unnecessary" spending . I once checked my account and realized I had visited McDonald's everyday that week 😲.....bad spending also leads to other issues too. Sometimes we have to find the root of the problem as well. But ❤ your content. Faithful new subbie over here🙌😊
i find that rewarding yourself for not spending during the pay period is helpful at least for me. if i set a goal to not spend money for a certain amount of time, i think of a reward for the end of it and it feels nice to have that reward especially when you know you earned it.
I did this for a month an realized I only needed fuel for my car as I go to work, because I carry packed lunch and breakfast from home. its an eye opener
I've done this several times over the last few years, but this video came just in time because it's time to put another freeze on myself. I love how conscious it makes me and the discipline I gain from it. It turned me into a saver. Thanks for posting this video!
Yes! I spend way less when I use cash instead of debit. My friends talked me into using a debit card because it is "safer" and carrying cash is "played out" 3 months later, I was out of 100s of dollars and can't remember where it went. I spend less if I can feel and see my money, I leave the cards at home for emergencies and travel purposes ONLY. I only carry what I need for that day and some days, I don't carry any money on purpose.
Cutting off the Apple Pay, no more target runs and leaving cards at home for the next week. It’s def draining seeing all your money being spent on food and clothes that aren’t needed. Love this! When I tell you this was right on time?!! New subscriber!
Definitely doing this for 2023. I have a horrible eating out and online shopping habit. This is why I can't move out and get my own place and lose weight. This year, I'm taking a drastic overhaul over my finances and health. Love this video.
Great saving tips. I recently did a savings challenge and was able to save $1300 a month by cutting down my monthly bills and "frivolous" spending. Keep up the good work!!!
I’ve been doing this since the start of the year and I’ve saved thousands in my savings so far. Like I am being resourceful this week with food. I’m eating what’s at home this week. The only thing I plan to buy is water and fruits. Using cash envelopes has been a game changer for me too. I plan my splurges to avoid impulse shopping.
I definitely want to try it out by not spending all week. Me and my girl are smart with our money to begin with but your very intelligent and are smart with your money. We save and only spend when we need it. We do have fun on the side and you gotta live life too. I've been taught also to not spend money you don't have! Keep up the great work and pass it on 👍
Hi Erin, I started my spending freeze at the beginning of the year. I’m so happy that someone put this out here. We do spend too much money. Thanks! I will continue to look for your videos.
This was helpful!! I need you to make a video on self-discipline TIPS and TRICKS to trick yourself into being an adult lol I love your videos!! I want to try a spending freeze for 1 week first then more!
I think I’m definitely going to start doing spending freezes maybe once every 3 weeks or twice a month (considering I live at home and don’t have an expenses other then a phone bill) so all my spending is random little things anyways, I want to save now so I can secure my future later when I do have bills and such!! These videos are so helpful
Honestly, this helped open my eyes and really got me to thinking about what I actually spend my pay check on. Thank you so much. Everything you said about spending on unnecessary things related to my habits. I’m definitely going to try the spending freeze! 🤞🏼
i spend so so so much money unnecessarily! i just got to your video so i'm gonna try freeze my spendings for 2 weeks to start with. thank you so much for your advice! wish me luck! 🤩
it’s a challenge but i like to go out to my favorite places to try some self control. sometimes that means walking out with what i came in with or even buying one small thing. the more i tell myself i need to start saving to move out soon after i graduate, the more motivated i am to save money.
I literally found your channel last night and i might just be a lil addicted, i never take notes on youtube videos but i keep finding myself grabbing a pen and even writing nicely. now i will be starting a spending freeze right now. I actually am always stingy with my money anyway so i try get what is necessary but sometimes i forget that so i hope this helps
I been on freeze 4 ever...I watch my money very well.. I have 4 diff accounts all 4 diff things. I know what comes out of what account at all times.. I have my holy grail budget book that has literally changed my financial life over the course of just a year. that notebook has saved my financial life.
I spend $1500 a month on food for one adult and two kids. We eat well, but it's not all organic. Eating out a few times a week too which I can definitely stop, although it feels hard. I'm doing well this week with going through my cupboards and using stuff up I didn't even realize I had.
Thank you so much ! I started this two weeks ago ... I literally never thought of saving money by not spending it lol ... and I’m going to enroll in keep the change
Thank goodness for this video! Been spending like crazy during this pandemic and I’ve failed at every attempt to save. I’m gonna try this out this is great advice thanks 😊
I sure needed this video. To be honest, window online helps me because I love shopping but if I put everything in my cart I really think if I really need it but I still get my shopping fix in
I'm the same way. I'll take an entire day to really make a decision about if I really need it if I'm shopping online. If i'm in the store I'm more likely to buy on impulse. I started unsubscribing to store sale emails so there's no temptation though.
I am on a spending freeze this month (not hubby, just me) & instead of giving myself an allowance I’m not allowing myself to buy anything that isn’t on the approved already list. Out to eat with our church group (once this month) & $10/family dinners on Wednesday nights (2 nights at home, 2 nights there). & groceries (milk and heavy cream, in a week or so). But for the most part? Eating down all of our reserves ESPECIALLY in our deep freeze (which desperately needs to be cleaned out) & all the fresh foods in both refrigerators! Beyond that? Selling the stuff we don’t need anymore.
I’m always in the groceries store...and I participate in a Trader Joe’s food give away🤦🏾♀️! I can definitely save money just by taking what I get from the Trader Joe’s program, thinking of meals I can create from what I get and then only buying the ingredients I need to complete the meals... I’m doing the spending freeze challenge!!!
I know that this is for 2 years ago, but this actually helped me a lot because I use my money to buy sweets and stuff like that. After this video I release that I don’t have to spend money that much . So thank you so much:) 😊
I'm doing the spending freeze for 1 week. You really convinced me and went straight to the point. Because of this ima subscribe homegirl. Please do more videos like this, i'm a beginner at budgeting
@erinondemand what action steps do you recommend for day 2day life to achieve this? thank you. 1. is it go to work and back home and thats it? 2. is it not hanging or socializing with friends when they ask to go out or hang out?
Girl! The groceries is it. How many times I write a list for groceries, only to get back home to realize I forgot eggs or toilet papers, basic items! Lol ❤️ this. I made a video on this too about 3 months back.
I'm watching this video for the second time. This makes me want to cry. I am not ready for this. I can't even make a week. I need to make some major change in my life.
Hey Erin, I had to come back to watch these vids. Like you, I am paying for a wedding now ! We are almost there, got a couple more things to do but, are you able to touch base on whether or not your strategy for saving for yourself has changed since you all have been planning for a wedding?
Mr J,I had to pay my council tax & H2O,Gas & Electric key, poultry & fish for the month & sum grocery stuff. I don’t buy anything for myself coz I bought a lot of dresses when I was with TJ.
(A little dark, sorry) Ever since my father passed away two weeks ago I have been losing it. I have been spending because I felt lonely, or sad, or because I thought there was no purpose in even having this stuff since I had to watch my dad die. This video and some of your other videos help me to keep going. Just have to keep going in the midst of the storm. Thank you for this video because I have to get my spending under control.
Wow, thank you for being brave enough to share. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I’m so glad that this video brought a little light to your world. Praying for you xo E
New subscriber! I literally just binge watched your videos. You’re such a breathe of fresh air to UA-cam! I will be starting my Freeze realistically after my birthday in early May
Well, I have to subscribe to you now because you caught me on all my little tricks...."no online shopping, either...", over-shopping the grocery store.... yep.
Seven day spending freeze to commence April 14th. I was trying to do a no spend month but I fell off the wagon last night, so my compromise is to start over, a little smaller, and achieve that success.

Omg girl! Your so so good with motivating me! I definitely need to do a spending freeze! 🙌🏾
Thank you for your channel I have got myself in such a bad credit card debt I am hoping to get things paid off so I’m definitely going to do an online freeze and basically pay my bills and go grocery shopping and do the inventory like you said and don’t overbuy so if you have any credit card tips payoffs greatly appreciate it thank you
Love this! Tips are simple but realistic. I usually overspend on take-outs even when food may be home. I really need a bit more discipline in that area so may try this 😉 tfs
hi, thank you for this. I am going to do this for a month. I will try this week starting today. I set myself up for success and asked my boyfriend to change my password on amazon
After I pay my next rent, I want to try this for a week and see if I can last. My biggest challenge is living in Cali supporting myself completely that its so expensive.
Saving money is addictive honestly. Sometimes it’s hard at first but it feels good watching the bank account grow. The bigger the savings the better I feel about sacrificing the unnecessary spending!
KALENE I would love to get to the part where it’s addicting 😭😂😂
Yes indeed saving is very crucial
Kourttney L it took me a while honestly, I used to be tempted to use it whenever I saw something I liked. I’d say oh I’ll use just $50 and spoil myself! No girl, what helped me? It's so tempting! Yes try it and let me know if it works for you! xo E
Same here! Living really minimalistic but since I’m in the USA I keep on eating out 🙈🙊
same ubereats is killing me😭

Sooo true that bad spending can lead to other issues! Thanks for subbing Erica! Welcome to my internet home :) xo E
Yes it’s very bad. I’ve seen it way too many times with friends and loved ones getting into too much debt because of spending issues.
Day 2 of spending freeze, the 5.77 in my account is laughing at me while i eat beans and rice.... Yet I havent spent.
You go girl!!!! xo E
I'm 14 with no money but I'm ready to start saving.

La'Rose I’m about to do this because I’m tired of spending
I thought I was the only person doing this haha I leave my card at home on purpose 🤣
Yes! I spent to much money during this pandemic. I needed to hear this....online shopping is killing my budget🤦🏾♀️

I agree with everything you said. I always feel like I'm on a good track when I hear advice that I already have been using for years.
That's so true. I have always been a very frugal person, but until a few months ago I hadn't realized that I was over grocery shopping
Lioness Rising that is amazing!! Thanks for sharing. Cash envelopes is a great idea! Old school methods be workinnn lol. Xo E

I. Know I'm late but I'm trying 7 day freeze starting today. This actually is this best advice I've heard, thank you.
I really like the way Jordan Page breaks down a budget and how to grocery shop
I just found your Channel yesterday. And it’s the 1st of the month I’m doing 30 days.
So glad they've been helpful for you Queen! xo E
That's so true. I always buy more at the grocery store. I do need to stop and make use of What I have. Love the video so far
Honestly, this helped open my eyes and really got me to thinking about what I actually spend my pay check on. Thank you so much. Everything you said about spending on unnecessary things related to my habits. I’m definitely going to try the spending freeze! 🤞🏼
I love the background of your video, your lighting, tone and information.
I hate wasting food. So I only buy food I will cook on that week. This helps me save money as well.
i spend so so so much money unnecessarily! i just got to your video so i'm gonna try freeze my spendings for 2 weeks to start with. thank you so much for your advice! wish me luck! 🤩
I’m going to do a spend freeze this week! This sounds like a great way to save money and only buy what you absolutely need.
Agreed! I love doing them every so often. I'm glad this video inspired you to try it out too. xx
I started writing checks again a bit.....i noticed that the more I write down the "debt" on my check book ledger, the more i pass up on things.
Loreal Drayton oooh that’s a good one! It’s just so hard to find places that still take checks lol.
it’s a challenge but i like to go out to my favorite places to try some self control. sometimes that means walking out with what i came in with or even buying one small thing. the more i tell myself i need to start saving to move out soon after i graduate, the more motivated i am to save money.

Great advise Lisa! Those are HUGE ways to cut back on spending. Thanks for your input! xo E
Love the cushion idea! I think it can help me stay on target with the spending freeze.
Yes! It helps it not feel so extreme! xo E
Gonna try this for five months. I've been so horrible with my money since forever. Doing it to save as well as to gain some discipline.
To be honest, window online helps me because I love shopping but if I put everything in my cart I really think if I really need it but I still get my shopping fix in
Alicia Williams Really?! Online window shopping is too tempting for me (😂) but that’s good that you can handle it!
I'm the same way. I'll take an entire day to really make a decision about if I really need it if I'm shopping online. If i'm in the store I'm more likely to buy on impulse. I started unsubscribing to store sale emails so there's no temptation though.
I am on a spending freeze this month (not hubby, just me) & instead of giving myself an allowance I’m not allowing myself to buy anything that isn’t on the approved already list. thanks for the motivation I'm starting a 7 day spending freeze today
You should have more subscribers. But people don’t like positive stuff like this
Thank you so much! I started not too long ago but my subscribers are growing! Feel free to share it xo E
Love this. I just started my freeze the beginning of the month and it’s going great so far! I only eat out if someone else paying lmao
BriAmour :::: 😂😁...!!!!!
BriAmour 😂😂😂 aye, they aren’t your coins so that works too lol. Keep the freeze up! Lmk how it goes by the end. Xo E
BriAmour that's right I was invited to sky zone I said NOPE that's not in my budget
So thank you so much:) 😊
Definitely going to try this out. Thanks for giving us all these great tips
It’s amazing how little you need to live. I’m slowly learning that now.

Girl I freaking love your channel! I’ve watched every single one of your videos today. And I’ve learned soooo much!

Take it one day at a time! Baby steps are still steps xo E
Hey Erin, I’m going to do this for a week at first see how much I save. But before that I’m going to get started doing that inventory. ⚡️⚡️⚡️✌🏽
Go queen I’m proud of your growth and this video is amazing. I spent nearly 3000 this month so I’m Defo going to try a freeze!
Omg I’m late to the party but I’m definitely going to try this. I definitely need to get my savings & weekly spending in order.
Great video! Even after 1 year this content is sooo relevant
I am going to try this. Gotta start off small, so start with 2-3 days at a time
(A little dark, sorry) Ever since my father passed away two weeks ago I have been losing it. I have been spending because I felt lonely, or sad, or because I thought there was no purpose in even having this stuff since I had to watch my dad die. This video and some of your other videos help me to keep going. Just have to keep going in the midst of the storm. Thank you for this video because I have to get my spending under control.

Thank you 💓I’m about to be a college student and I’m working on building my bank account
Love this! Tips are simple but realistic. I usually overspend on take-outs even when food may be home. I really need a bit more discipline in that area so may try this 😉 tfs
You’re an inspiration!!! Keep up the good work!
Aww thank you so much! xo E
Love this❤ Gonna try it for 7 days! Hopefully I can make it a habit. Like the idea of giving yourself a lil cushion money.
You got this Brooke! xo E
hi, thank you for this. I am going to do this for a month. I will try this week starting today. I set myself up for success and asked my boyfriend to change my password on amazon
I am going to do a spending freeze for the rest of 2022 and the 1st half of 2023.
Brilliant advice, thank you.
After I pay my next rent, I want to try this for a week and see if I can last. My biggest challenge is living in Cali supporting myself completely that its so expensive.
Wow excellent video thank you I need more of this positivity’ I’m going to try a 7 day spending freeze... awesome
