      gerry6420 Thanks for the reply,,, i drove a 3130 2wd with a taarup mower back in the early 80’s for nearly 10 years,, then in 1989 the contractor i worked for bought a brand new 3050 4WD what a machine 👍

  • @mrhorsepower150

    Those single rotor rakes are great but the wrong driver can leave the rows very lumpy.We have a JF single rotor,put 2 ten foot rows into one and lift with a JF 1050 on a MF6490.Can pick up about 4 acres + an hour when things go right but in very heavy reseeded first cuts better to lift the single row

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  6 років тому

      Jf 900 wouldn’t have just as big out put at the 1050. But our row are 8ft and should lift a 16 ft row. Lifted them before. We have 1 new reseed might just row head lands on it. It’s fair heavy crop.

    Hi nice video good work

  • @kieranosullivan02
    @kieranosullivan02 6 років тому +2

    Would it have been better getting a trailed mower with a swather/grouper for the 6420 instead of using a 1 rotor rake later on? Unless you want it to dry out a bit first.

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  6 років тому

      That is the plan to sell our older mower and buy 8ft trailed with grouper. Getting a taarup 8ft trailed might not be that simple. We be looking one in very good condition

    • @kieranosullivan02
      @kieranosullivan02 6 років тому +1

      Yeah it sounds like a good plan. I suppose if no good one was around a wanted ad on donedeal could help

    Cutting on 1st and lifting on 3rd and 4th. Can l ask why ye are leaving it down so long?

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  6 років тому +1

      Just the way it worked out on at the weekend. We usually lift on day 2/3 but our drivers weren’t available until Monday and Tuesday.

  • @Bambinohead1
    @Bambinohead1 6 років тому +1

    Fair play Gerry. Lovely team there. Will ye pick up out of those rows? Notice ye not using spreading vanes.

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  6 років тому +1

      Bambinohead1 no didn’t use them . Grass is nice and dry so didn’t see the need. Be using them for the hay mowing. Save a trip with the Turner

    Would you not be tempted to upgrade the harvester to a 1050 Gerry? 🙄 I know of a man who ran an 1100 with a 6930 premium with no chip or remap. And she could lift at some pace

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  6 років тому +1

      AgriFan yea it’d handle 20 ft rows and speed job up. To be honest if I up my acres I’d upgrade to a 1050 or 1055. We get a good price for our 900 it’s in such good nick so wouldn’t cost that much to change. I’d also consider a wagon.

    • @kieranosullivan02
      @kieranosullivan02 6 років тому +1

      All im saying is dont consider a wagon unless your fields are close to the pit.Thats the only time when theyre useful
