Please, please continue these Travels with Mr. Salomon. The Frick website says they will end on September 9 and will be greatly missed by those of us who would love to attend the Frick Collection when it re-opens but look forward every week to this unique experience with such a knowledgeable guide. These episodes, along with Cocktails with a Curator, have been such a treat to look forward to each week. Is there any way to encourage the Frick to continue them into the future?

These lectures have had an immeasurable impact on me during our extraordinary 2020. I have discovered that I truly LOVE Art History! I visited The Frick several times when I lived in Manhattan during the time of the Millennium. Now I reside in Honolulu, and although there is exquisite natural beauty here, I do miss the immense cultural offerings in NYC. Your lively lectures bridge this cultural gap for countless people around the globe. Please continue, Xavier! Perhaps the new “Canvas” program on PBS could bring your compelling art history lectures to a wider audience.
I absolutely agree! I live near San Francisco which is the home of several great art museums. As soon as I can I am definitely going to visit them. They had a wonderful show on Van Gough several years ago that was paired with Impressionism. I was able to attend both and came home totally inspired. Now, thanks to Xavier and Amiee I am completely addicted !
Again, a wonderful and inspirational visit with the curator. I love all of your pictures from your travels, they make me feels like a real tourist! Thank you so much for sharing your time with us!
great series! I look forward to these weekly episodes because they are much more than just a travel poster. Mr. Salomon is so knowledgeable and brings depth to his topics. He is real asset to the Frick
Dear Mr.Salamon thanks you showing mee again Grass with Fragonards lovely hause and his works it must bee very precious.Concerning parfumes as myself a lady l also found of different l keep my litllle boutle from Esterhazys parfume which is not availble to buy everywhere just in Burgerland in Austria.
Very nice presentation, appreciate it. I hope to visit Grasse soon, but for now this was a great preview. Hope to see the Frick again soon in person as well.
Thanks for this vlog and your Cocktails with a Curator series. I wonder if they can tell the difference between the Copies and the originals at the Frick. They are beautiful in the museum. They had a beautiful Turner exhibit several years ago. I’ve been studying Holbein’s Tudor paintings recently and plan to go take a better look at his portraits at the Frick when they reopen. They have some wonderful portraits. I will also visit the MET since it will be the first time in my life (other than during a few snowstorms) that I can visit without major crowds.
The sugar plum painter, no warts just loveliness. Thanks for showing the more realistic, early religious work. The abstract, amorphic design is especially interesting, "everything old is new again."
So interesting. I have loved the Fragonard Room at the Frick for as long as I can remember. My fantasy of ideal love has centered on the Fragonard paintings there, and I have actually dreamt of the room from time to time. Oddly enough, I did not know much about the paintings except that I find them delightful. The young woman with her arms outstretched represents the height of joy and exuberance. Thank you!
How I long for the virus to be over...and that means the Trump virus as well as Covid, so I can come back to New York and visit the Frick, having been so inspired by these wonderful lectures. In the meantime I can dream.
10:22 Vermiculation, meaning 'worm-eaten' a decorative element carved into ashlar stone found architecturally in the ground/street level of buildings to the present. Google 'the ashlar vermiculation' for further info - it is a recent art installation by Max Lamb in London.
So. Xavier .... Where are you? In France??? HOW did you get there? Isn't a U.S. passport the kiss of death in Europe? --- Another great Travels with a Curator... We count on your inspiration. Thank you!
THis part of the "cultural" world I dont know it seems also interesting and attractive especially considering parfumes for women.I wisited long time ago Versailles where in the garden I have bought my first parfumes flower and was very impressed by Louvre collections I photographed also Mona Lisa.....Arrideveci Gracia

Why am I in love again at age 79? These lectures are manna from heaven.
WONDERFUL !!!!!
Another wonderful video visit. I await each of these with enthusiasm.I wish the people at the Met would learn from you. Their videos are deadly.

Delightful.
Thank you ! I learned alot.
I very much enjoy your series. The son of your cousin is a cousin, once removed rather than 2nd cousin.
I understand that you will end these programs..
Please continue as it does not look that the normal life will return soon
I see that they are from the National Endowment for the Humanities, perhaps they will continue
As DVDs for sale at the museum and online. Too good an asset to keep off the market!

Grasse -city of fragrances/Grasse city of Fragonard -what a co-incidence!
I immediatly bought some Fragonard perfume>delicious!
Merci! Intéressant, et informatif. J'aurais aimé voir la porte où se trouvaient ces décorations très "modernes " que vous nous avez montrées.

I think that Xavier has already traveled to all the places he discusses. He could be anywhere-- even NYC.
I’ve never really appreciated Fragonard before.
Too “floofy” :)
This, however, has given me a new appreciation, especially his early work
j. smith - is “floofy” one of those arcane art history terms?
Very arcane :)
Check out Yinka Shonibare's contemporary works referencing Fragonard. Very interesting context, and imho helps with understanding Fragonard also.
Thank you! Will check it out
