Cell Cycle Analysis By Flow Cytometry

  • Flow cytometry is one of the most important techniques to understand different aspects of cell biology, stem cell biology, cancer biology, and immunology. One of the interesting applications of flow cytometry is understanding the cell cycle based on DNA content.
    In this lecture first, we will discuss the basic principle of flow cytometry and then will utilize the fundamentals to analyze the cell cycle and how we calculate the proportion of cells present in various phases of the cell cycle. This lecture will not only explain the principle but also discusses the analysis of graphs and data.
    The whole discussion includes the following -
    1. Fundamental principle of flow cytometry.
    2. Looking at the cell cycle from the point of view of DNA content.
    3. How does the flow cytometer use DNA content to understand the cell cycle.
    4. Graph of the cell cycle in flow cytometry.
    5. A brief idea about different mathematical models to understand the graphs of the cell cycle.
    6. Cell cycle inhibitory drugs and their graphs.
    7. The brief protocols and important points of the protocol.
