As a guy who’s been a rookie many times in life I appreciate your teaching style. Some friendly ribbing but nothing vicious. Easier to learn when you know you won’t get your head ripped off for making a mistake.
I guess you can teach a old dog new tricks.... Jerry stayed in the new dozer. 🤨 I liked your teaching truck moment. 🧐 The most surprising thing is that Mr. Millennial listened without interruption and absorbed what was said. 👍for Mr Millennial. Be good be happy be safe (be warm) looking forward to a great year with you and friends. 😉
I love the exhaust sound on that red dump truck. I look forward to each day to your new video and the funning around with the guys that work with you. Love your shows. Keep up the good work and making a better day for this 76 year old man to have something to look forward to each day. Thanks and god bless you.
Everyone has to start somewhere in the learning curve. Your a good teacher and Matt is receiving and retaining the instructions. That always makes for a win win! I always love to watch the pond/lake builds on your channel! Thanks for posting.
A deal that makes sense, that's what I'm waiting for.. nit a dozer but my 1st piece of equipment other than our Kubota backhoe/tractor. I need something w a jackhammer
DP your the kind of boss everyone would love to have. You joke with everyone and a happy go lucky guy and that’s why I subscribe and like about you. Every boss I worked for had a giant stick stuck up their butt and was too serious for nothing. Your a down to earth boss 👍🏼🥰
I learned about silt fences, to avoid driving in the same tracks, and that the dirt smells awesome. Great video, thank you. Tell Jerry to live a little, put on a Hawaiian shirt and shorts and close both doors! 👍👍
Love watching Jerry and the 850J. A match made in heaven. How does he manage to get such a full blade full all of the time. He makes that machine sing. Good job!
Silt Fences (just learned what those are). I've seen those a lot in ditches and construction sites, but I never thought much about them. Just got a little education and now it all makes sense. Now when I see them I'll know what they are for and the importance of their use.
Mike, you Jerry and Matt make a good team! If you don’t enjoy what your are doing chances are you won’t stick with it…..you guys truly enjoy your work, it’s great to watch! Thanks for posting your videos!!
Watching this job is like watching the grand master, the journeyman, and the apprentice all working together. It is good that you are teaching Matt the tricks.
Congratulations Matt for taking the lesson and applying the lesson and your on your way to being much better each time. Mike you have soo much more to pass on and your doing great with some teasing and lightheartedness goes a long way. It's a lesson not a chewing out. this is a great project to end the year.
I can smell that freshly worked dirt from here and it's just perfect! The three of you are a great team whilst accomplishing a lot and making serious work fun. Thank you.
Really liked the way you are teaching Matt, He's not afraid of work and he's got a good attitude, Thank you for the videos. Best dirt work on you tube.
Morning DP and this awesome community. It's @ 645am on 1/7/22 here in central WI. Wake up temp is -4F with wind chill of -15F. Expected high today maybe +10F. Matt may not the most experienced driver, but given soil conditions, not too bad. Thanks for sharing this video 👍👍👍👍👍😺🤗🐺
You definitely could’ve put Lt.Dan to work on this job, Mike! I can’t wait to see him going to work, he’s going to be the “BOSS” when it’s comes to hauling in the mud! Thanks for sharing my friend!👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
I love the sound of the dump truck! Keeping the wheels straight seems obvious to me but I have seen so many people crank the wheel hard and then wonder why they can’t get their vehicle un stuck. Granted most of the time it is in snow but the concept is the same. Being able to take direction and knowing that it is knowledge that you need and not criticizing you as a person is a sign of a very smart and adaptable person. I can’t wait to see how this pond turns out.
I never understood the attraction to dozers until I started watching your videos. I always assumed they were outdated for dirt moving, but I was definitely wrong. One interesting thing you could do is show how much dirt those 750's can push by loading it in a truck for comparison. Scale is sometimes hard to see in a video. Keep up the great work!
Jerry operates like I do. Start out with the doors closed and the heat on then regulate the temp with doors or windows open and shut. I do the same thing in the summer, I'll stattvwith the doors open then as it heats up turn the a/c on and start closing things up as I get hot.
You all are having fun playing in the dirt again . Matt was learning, it made me remember of driving a 35 ton rock truck years ago, right after that it had come a big rain . You all did pretty good tho, and was having fun . Jerry was doing awesome in the 850J and staying warm . The job will look amazing when you all get the job finished. So be careful and stay safe and keep on moving dirt . As always, Jeffrey !!!
Great work operating that HD truck loaded with a few tons of heavy dirt through that soft saturated dirt Matt! All it took was a few tips from a senior operator and you gotter done. Someone asked me to hop in that seat I would have said COOL and fudged it up real quick, but it would've been fun while it lasted 🤠 I don't even know how the gear shifting system works hahaha
Being perfectly honest with you Mike, I really not sure that you gain enough to do the seriously overloaded trips. That heavy a load on that small of a truck will knock it out sooner or later when you need that truck for the tilt trailer or gravel driveway. I am not sure that any more power on that truck engine would make it pull any harder and it might just blow up if it had much more... I have a very hard liking a detroit engine. I was driving a commercial grade new Peterbilt truck hauling logs. I knew I was overloaded for the highway but didn't need to get on the highway so off I go. They had cleaned up that landing and was moving to a new landing for so I had enough on the logging truck for three loads. I got to a long stretch of a hill. The hill had just enough curve to need a crown to it and going around the curve meant the truck was starting to tip over so I cut into and keep going. It was in first and under... I hadn't gone to deep under but with that much strain on the truck I wasn't going to try and go for the last deep under going that slow so next thing I hear is "Kerbang!" and the truck seemed powerless and quit going, then it started immediately backwards an not enough brakes to stop. Its really odd how fast a truck moving five miles a hour forward can get going so fast in reverse. The next thing I see/feel is it land on its side and then roll over with diesel pouring down on me making me slick enough to squeeze out. I wasn't hurt bad.. just some scraps but so embarrassed. No matter what, no one wants a wreck on their record. The bang I heard was the side of the transmission leaving pieces on the road and ditch.
One thing is for sure with Jerry running the 850J the blade will finally get polished up so the dirt will quit sticking to the blade... That's if you keep him supplied in fuel...😎
👍 Jerry has the smooth commentary and heat to cold ratio set up; may be his new "happy place" in the J. Mike has his "smooth" instructor hat on and Matt is learning. Everybody is playing in reddish-brown jello. Thanks for sharing.
Jerry has a similar story to my grandpa (I'm one now too); It could be 50* in the house and we couldn't keep the heat on cause it cost too much and I'd still have to have one leg outside the blankets, just need to balance it out. Good Smile for Jerry!
Training a Rookie driver in those conditions is one heck of a steep learning curve but Not Mr. Millennial is doing well. Running full out in 3rd gear can’t be very efficient but you run what you brung. Definitely makes things more difficult having to negotiate around all the things in the yard but this one’s a cakewalk compared to that last one digging the walkout basement.
Looks like it will be a nice size pond.nice weather to be working in,waiting for the snow to show up.will be beautiful homestead once done.looks like y’all be moving lotta dirt .as always good video.I’ve said it before y’all have too much fun when your supposed to be working.keep playing in the dirt.👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎
This is going to be a great job can’t wait to see the rest of the videos! Need Lieutenant Dan ! Love how are you commentate at the same time as the video is going keeps us informed as you’re working and more interested in your job site compared to other channels. It helps Me as a viewer stay interested thank you for sharing your awesome videos.
Pros and cons: Con...this video's opening percussion music...no. I expected you to come out dressed for a wrestling (?) match. Pro... Your videos keep getting better and better. Loads of good content show excellent video skills. Not once have I fast forwarded because of boring, over and over in the same place bull dozing. Your videos cover a wide range of projects. Excellent displays of professionalism by you and your crew...and a very loving family that obviously support you, as you do them. FYI. The red t-shirt I purchased from you still looks good after about two dozen washings. I've been stopped in stores and asked "What does that mean?" Not who, but what. Ha. Keep doin' what you do and some day your subscriber count might catch Chris. Of course he's had a few years headstart on you. Thank you for a channel which a family can watch together.
Dirt perfect Great team work . When you get back to work on LT. Dan. Should consider putting 2 vibrators on the Dump bed To help keep it clean out and less Chance of putting A bucket tooth in the floor. When you clean your out with the exhibitor
Mike another great video! Jerry is an incredible operator, Matt is doing great for not being an operator, it all takes time an experience! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Silt fence. Engineer's love it. When you have that much natural grass filter between the dig and the road gutter it really makes no sense to disturb soil 10 ft from the gutter but what does an excavator know right? Nice job, i am addicted to you channel!
What i used to do years ago to the old 6 wheel Leyland trucks we ran was to weld some bits of re-bar on one rim on inside of duals and put a narrow truck tyre, and crush it between the duals so she made just one big footprint instead of two narrow ones, also when it got icy or the mud got sloppy i ran them with a trapped tyre and put snow chains on, they used to go just about any where like that. That new dozer is nice.
I was thinking about the smell of the dirt. Then you said it. I like the no mistakes, just stuff to learn. And knowing it's a extra job for most of your guys. That's a good deal.
Good video Mike! Well, I think I can see what is coming next.. When you get Lt Dan going, sell the GMC 8500 and buy an articulating dump truck. On this job you could have used both trucks at the same time. You would have moved a lot of dirt running trackhoe, 2 dump trucks and the 850. Really something like what Chris just bought would be new enough to move a lot of dirt. I really enjoyed the DOT lesson video this morning. Most of the Indiana DOT laws are the same as Alabama. Not exactly but most are. It's wet down here so I'm watching videos today.😁😂👍
Go Jerry go, go Jerry go, awesome job guys. Before I retired I had to Chevrolet 85 they were both identical they had the cat small diesels in them. One had an 8LL transmission and the other one had a Allison 5-speed automatic. Truck with the Allison 5-speed under poor ground conditions that truck you swear could walk on water that automatic with the slow steady pull and the fast shifts would just keep going with the 8LL truck it would get stuck long before the Allison as far as I know there is no truck transmission that will outperform and Allison under bad ground conditions. A heavier truck with a heavy big diesel under the hood with wide tires upfront the Allison helps but it's not the light truck combination with the small diesel or gas outfront which are light and the Allison automatic cannot be beat when off road conditions are bad
Matt::: we were all rookies at on time or the other. I still remember mine as a 16 plus 1 month, 59 1/2 years ago, hauling grain to the elevator on Dad's 1 ton farm truck. First time out of the field I hit the gate straight on which didn't work real well. There was a dip in it from a plow furrow and both rear wheels needed to come up at the same time. I was afraid I was going to burn the clutch out. Next time I took it at a angle so only one tire needed to come up at a time. Much. much better.
I always enjoy your videos! I learn something new on every one. I live in IA and recently got my class A, this video was extremely good for information! Now I just have to remember how it’s done when I encounter the same slimy conditions.
Dont be too hard on Mr Melenial ( sorry NYA ) but being a rookie in soft mud is not easy at the best of times , I drive a 4 axle ( 12 wheel ) here in Uk and DAMM thats soft crap can catch you out , so hats off Buddy he did well ( and you kept your cool , !! On camera anyways ) Keep em coming DP , always makes my day :)
Great to see Matt get his "sea legs." This looks like interesting project. Hope to see more of it. Boy DP, you got a lot of air-time in my house this evening! Thank you for all your work.
Awesome job u and Jerry is doing and Matt is getting use to the equipment and driving the truck can't wait till u have Lt. Dan done and u start using him to haul dirt keep up the good work ur doing Dirt Perfect love the videos y'all be safe and always be careful doing what u do and I wish I had the money to get me one of the hoodies ur wearing
You got off to a rocky start but you put the pieces of the puzzle together and it’s shaping up nicely! Maybe the rookie driver learned a little something too! Great video as always!
Installed my first silt fence a few months ago for my daughter's new house build. Used my tractor with a plow and installed in the open furrow, then backfilled with my power rake angled towards the fence. Took very little time. Obviously in your case it means hauling more equipment, so may not be worth the extra trouble!
This will be a pond built immediately adjacent to and directly down gradient of a septic field. And both are sitting on top of that same impervious yellow clay stratum. No swimming. It probably ought to have something to aerate the pond. Plan a power center somewhere and lay conduit out to it now.
Hi great content. Next silt fence job you have flip the ripper water line attachment 180. Then you can set it in as close as you can to get boom up and boom down for the job being done. just sink it and track forward. The ground guy rolls out silt fence and the second guy pounds stakes.
Always something to learn on every piece of equipment and what you learn one day may not fully apply the next day because of conditions. Glad to see you giving Matt instruction on the truck and happy to see Matt willing to learn. Look forward to future vids on this and thanks for the ride along.
Awesome job bud this 1 looks alot of fun. I remember back when we had all open cab equipment we would build a plexy glass cab nothing fancy just put it up and put self tappers and then we would use those heat socks cause back in day only equipment with cabs where I worked was D9 and up trac hoes 992 and haul trucks but the plexy glass worked awesome
Nothing like "On the job training!" Go, Matt, go! My single axial Peterbilt 335 dump wouldn't go 2 ft in that dirt. It gets stuck on wet grass. It still has the factory smooth road tires on it!
Mike when you get a bigger excavator you have to be doing more digging with it than you are doing with your dozers you need to get bubba dump fixed up and get leutenant Dan done with both of those bad ass dumptrucks and the big bad ass excavator you should be able to get dirt moved alot faster than your moving it all you need to do is for you to stay in the excavator loading bubba dump and leutenant Dan and you need to find driver's for both of them bad ass dumptrucks and like I have said in the past if the tire dumptrucks don't work there's always the tracked dumptrucks that will work
Jerry is a very smart man and knows which battles to pick. Getting ushered into the cab dozer with heat on a really cold day was one not worth contesting.
Can't wait to see Lt. Dan on a job like this one sometime this spring we hope. Looks like winters knocking on your door so you'll have plenty of down time to get him in formation earning his keep. Stop sending that Arctic cold weather down here to Miami. I had to wear 2 layers last evening. Had my hoodie with me just in case as well.
Its a bit squishy there bud !!!! Matt did well driving the tipper, didn't take him too long to get to grips with site driving!! Now I see how silt fence is constructed, learnt something new 👍 Jerry seemed to enjoy the 850J, even if he had one door open 🤣 I spotted a close call between the dozers, that could have been dodgy 😱😱😱 Hopefully the rain keeps off for the rest of the job Mike 🤞🤞🤞
As a guy who’s been a rookie many times in life I appreciate your teaching style. Some friendly ribbing but nothing vicious. Easier to learn when you know you won’t get your head ripped off for making a mistake.
Yeppers! 100% truth!
One thing about Matt, he is always willing to learn!👍👍
That’s always a good thing. I would have gotten irritated, although I wouldn’t have made the mistakes he did with the truck.
I guess you can teach a old dog new tricks.... Jerry stayed in the new dozer. 🤨
I liked your teaching truck moment.
That thing sounds wicked!
Thanks
The c8500 does sound awesome!!
Everyone has to start somewhere in the learning curve. Your a good teacher and Matt is receiving and retaining the instructions. That always makes for a win win! I always love to watch the pond/lake builds on your channel! Thanks for posting.
Congratulations Matt on being willing to listen and take coaching. Being a quick study is definitely not your average mellinial! Lol
I can sense Lt Dan tapping his fingers on the desk.
I learned about silt fences, to avoid driving in the same tracks, and that the dirt smells awesome. Great video, thank you.
Tell Jerry to live a little, put on a Hawaiian shirt and shorts and close both doors! 👍👍
😅😅😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣, could old Jerries legs really take that much sun exposure on them !??!!!
@@ronaldheit196 His legs would be fine, its our eyes that might suffer! I bet his little bird legs havent seen the sun since DP was in pampers!! LOL
Poor Jerry!
You'd a thought he'd a said the dirt smelled perfect. Dirt Awesome?
I love the coordinated dozer work and I think Matt did just fine on the truck driving!
Love watching Jerry and the 850J. A match made in heaven. How does he manage to get such a full blade full all of the time. He makes that machine sing. Good job!
Never too old to learn, at least you are teaching Matt and that is awesome.
Silt Fences (just learned what those are). I've seen those a lot in ditches and construction sites, but I never thought much about them. Just got a little education and now it all makes sense. Now when I see them I'll know what they are for and the importance of their use.
I understand cold! It finally got up to 24° today and now it's going back down!
Looks like Jerry is taking a liking to the new 850J. I can tell a difference in the power of the new dozer in the videos
Yup running good
Something from YOUR PLACE that kept JERRY at at ease in is a plus for all!
Mike, you Jerry and Matt make a good team! If you don’t enjoy what your are doing chances are you won’t stick with it…..you guys truly enjoy your work, it’s great to watch! Thanks for posting your videos!!
A family friend of ours used to say "If you love what you're doing, you'll never 'work' a day in your life."
That little GMC sounds sweet . Jerry and the new J might be quite a match in the cold weather 😁
Watching this job is like watching the grand master, the journeyman, and the apprentice all working together. It is good that you are teaching Matt the tricks.
U GUY'S R TOTALLY AWESOME AT WHAT YOU DO. C&C, 18 DIG,DRIT PERFECT WATCH U GUYS ALL THE TIME. U ALL R PHENOMENAL.
Thanks
My daddy love watching your video thank you.
Thanks
I know everyone is excited about Lt. Dan, including me, but you have to admit, that C8500 is a damn war horse!! Id never get rid of that truck!
I love the tire shots with the soil moving, it is amazing.
Matt is a great student! And he has a great teacher!
Good Job, Matt.
Congratulations Matt for taking the lesson and applying the lesson and your on your way to being much better each time. Mike you have soo much more to pass on and your doing great with some teasing and lightheartedness goes a long way. It's a lesson not a chewing out. this is a great project to end the year.

I was pullin for Matt to make those loads !
That house turned out nice !! Another job that runs so smooth. I must say I’m impressed with the dump truck just trucking right along in the mud.
Thanks

First time out of the field I hit the gate straight on which didn't work real well. There was a dip in it from a plow furrow and both rear wheels needed to come up at the same time. I was afraid I was going to burn the clutch out. Next time I took it at a angle so only one tire needed to come up at a time. Much. much better.
Great video about patience, learning and teacher it was a fun video…
I always enjoy your videos! I learn something new on every one. I live in IA and recently got my class A, this video was extremely good for information! Now I just have to remember how it’s done when I encounter the same slimy conditions.
Awesome! Thank you!
I think NYA truck driver gave it hell...👍👍👍
I enjoyed the time lapse towards the end. Put a good perspective on how you accomplish the side walls of the pond. Looking good!
Thanks 👍
Dont be too hard on Mr Melenial ( sorry NYA ) but being a rookie in soft mud is not easy at the best of times , I drive a 4 axle ( 12 wheel ) here in Uk and DAMM thats soft crap can catch you out , so hats off Buddy he did well ( and you kept your cool , !! On camera anyways ) Keep em coming DP , always makes my day :)
Jerry needs some wind rows
There u go, u putting wind rows for him now w the other dozer
Jerry never has a wasted movement while on a machine. He forgot more than most will ever know and that's great for roi on the Dozer purchase.
Sorry you don’t understand how they work
Great video DP you are like an artist its looking good can't wait to see the rest of this series
Great job by all Exceptional job Matt Got alot more loads than i thought possible Thanks for sharing 👍
MUDS LIKE. SNOW ❄️
Mike when you get a bigger excavator you have to be doing more digging with it than you are doing with your dozers you need to get bubba dump fixed up and get leutenant Dan done with both of those bad ass dumptrucks and the big bad ass excavator you should be able to get dirt moved alot faster than your moving it all you need to do is for you to stay in the excavator loading bubba dump and leutenant Dan and you need to find driver's for both of them bad ass dumptrucks and like I have said in the past if the tire dumptrucks don't work there's always the tracked dumptrucks that will work
850 Jane looks awesome
Jerry is a very smart man and knows which battles to pick. Getting ushered into the cab dozer with heat on a really cold day was one not worth contesting.
That dirt may smell to someone like me, but should smell like money to Dirt Perfect! I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming! :)
Thanks 👍
Always costs money to make it. Gotta get those quotes down without surprises! Take care.
Just seen the new Addison for the 850 .it looks sweet .And can't wait to see it working
Better start hiring Mr Millennial out to all the local crop farmers - he's BRILLIANT at ploughing paddocks with your tipper!!!
Love his attitude though - "No experience" - but I'm going to keep going... Makes for a great show.
Jerry has the door open - to hot inside and not enough dirt smell. What a dirt pusher he is.
Most perfect job ever for lt dan
To backtrack ,, dozers did a fine job.
Kudos to matt for learning .
Cool vid Mike.
Thanks 👍
Great video-waiting for the next one!!
Hope things get better 👍👍👍
Can't wait to see Lt. Dan on a job like this one sometime this spring we hope.
Looks like winters knocking on your door so you'll have plenty of down time to get him in formation earning his keep.
Stop sending that Arctic cold weather down here to Miami.
I had to wear 2 layers last evening.
Had my hoodie with me just in case as well.
Just good people thank u
Thanks
I swear that Jerry is a cyborg! He's got a level and an incline meter imbedded in his eyeball! Master Class!
Definitely a good hauling job for Lt. Dan with them knobby tires he's got so it'd float more than slice.
ever thought about putting super singles on?
Its a bit squishy there bud !!!!
Matt did well driving the tipper, didn't take him too long to get to grips with site driving!!
Now I see how silt fence is constructed, learnt something new 👍
Jerry seemed to enjoy the 850J, even if he had one door open 🤣
I spotted a close call between the dozers, that could have been dodgy 😱😱😱
Hopefully the rain keeps off for the rest of the job Mike 🤞🤞🤞
