    Thanks for the detailed cost breakdown. So important to know general costs, especially now post Covid, when everything seems to have gone up so much and tradespeople so hard to get hold of and commit to a timeline.

    Drywalled, tiled, painted my whole kitchen as well as fitting new B&Q base units, wall units and breakfast bar etc. Lot of work which took forever..... ask my wife!
    After having new windows and central heating installed it was finally time for the bathroom and we got the guys in. Six days to pull everything out, lower the ceiling, plasterboard and finish the walls then supply and fit 60x30 tiles, walk-in shower with inset controls, waterfall showerhead, vanity, toilet, LVT floor tiles, downlights etc.
    Lovely job at £8,000, wife is delighted and saved me a lot of work at 70!
    Well done on your bathroom which is nicely done with a lot of DIY at around £4,300 so yes, there's money to be saved if you're up for it.
    Retired with cash to spare and certainly couldn't have achieved the finish these guys produced also didn't have to worry about disposal of all the old bathroom stuff, wood, plaster etc.

    Very good video, Thankyou. So helpful to hear each step and the items needed for a bathroom reno. One thing that I think others would find helpful too is if while adding your final comments you show on the screen (to the left) all those items and their cost with the absolute total. Thanks again!

    Sounds like a great price. I live in Lancashire, My bathroom is half the size of yours and i was quoted almost 7k for a bathroom renovation. This gives me confidence! so to summarise... you bought everything yourself? as i know some plumbers etc say they can get materials at trade prices?? im starting to think i need to find a reputable plumber rather than looking at a company that "does it all"...as it seems the plumber can do it all aswell...or most of it.

      Tell them to give you an itemised bill and see what you can do yourself and ask them how much for what you can’t do.

      7k including your suite & tiles? That’s cheap (from a builders stand point) give or take 3k for tiles & suite 1k on other materials for prep- finish adhesives all that jazz then essentially 3 k labour in you man’s quote which is more than fair for the work involved

    Well done. Looks great. You've got yourself an utter bargain. Can't believe how you did it so cheap. Hope it lasts more than 5 years! Most bathrooms fully fitted from all of the companies I know (I work in the interior building business) require a budget of £15-30k including installation.

    Appreciate the comprehensive breakdown of expenses. It's crucial to have a grasp of the overall costs, particularly in this post-pandemic era, where prices have surged significantly, and securing tradespeople for a timely commitment has become quite challenging. #DeepNest #DeepNestBathrooms

    I have just done out my bathroom. Done most of it myself with no previous experience on doing a bathroom but I’ve exceeded my expectations of what I could do and some, although I haven’t been buying the items on a budget, I made sure I did as much myself as I possibly could. I’ve spent about £4,500 on the materials. Done all the prep work for my plumber and my general jobs mate I have paid £700 in labour between both. If you have the tools, give it a go and you’ll surprise yourself with how much you can achieve.

  • @raniaespoir9252
    @raniaespoir9252 Рік тому +1

    This might sound like a silly question but do you have to first buy your tiles then find someone who does the flooring/tiling to come in and do it for you?

    • @LouiseHenryHome
      @LouiseHenryHome  Рік тому +1

      Not a silly question at all. We bought our tiles first but you can do it either way. I know some people find a plumber first. Some people also get materials included in the quote, I just think there’s a risk of a plumber marking it up then

  • @jonallen4100

    Great Video, I what I like about your project is it allows you to monitor the quality of the Plumber, Plasterer and Tiling seperatly vs having just one company coming in and doing the whole job. A company will over estimate on certain items to cover any difficulties that may arise. What is really valuable is the experience of doing a project like this, it will give you more confidence for future projects and save you a considerable amount of money. Just one thought Louise... In my experience you may never finish all the house because we all wish we had done things a little different first time round or maybe you will move house.. and start again :-)

    Well done, that's a stunning job. It's mad what you can save when you roll up your sleeves. I converted a back bedroom into a bathroom and it's an absolute cinch once a plumber brings in the required pipework. Just fix the toilet, bath and basin in the desired position and plumb in using plastic pipes, push fit and flexies, except you can't use flexies on rads. Mind you, it's deliberately rustic so people are in an out without hogging the place in the morning.

    How much do you pay for a car? £20, 40k. Drive it for 3 years and it’s not worth much. How much do you spend on a kitchen or landscaped garden?Most bathrooms when installed by an experienced expert take 3-4 weeks. £350 per day x 17 on average £5950. Build, tiling and plumbing materials usually £900. Skip/rubbish £350. Electrician for lights etc etc £550. Plasterer £250 and you easily have an £8k install. Feel lucky if that’s including VAT. Then your products and tiles. On average £4000-7000 and that’s without going high end. If you go into London prices there’s many installers quoting £12k and upwards. I’m not an installer but know they take on a great deal of responsibility and it takes many many years to get to a quality level that today’s customers demand.

      Bruv. These costs are mad. What planet you on?? And how big are these bathrooms. If it’s a standard 2x2m bathroom it’s 4k including first fix. Customer supplies second fix including tiles and adhesive. That turns builder 2k profit in a week.

    • @DavidJames-iv8eb
      @DavidJames-iv8eb 8 місяців тому +1

      Some people buy a Dacia and some people buy a Rolls Royce. The world is not flat Bruv. A good fitter needs to earn £300 pd day min in the south east with the skills they have and the risks and responsibilities they take on. These are not general builders, they are specialists. Most quality bathrooms take around 3 weeks. That’s 4500. 350 rubbish. 450 electrician. 250 plasterer. 600 materials. On a modest bathroom. That’s 6150. Then add your products and tiles. Yes I’ve head of some place where a 3 bed house costs £150k and in those parts the fitters charge £200pd so it’s maybe regional.

    • @DavidJames-iv8eb
      @DavidJames-iv8eb 8 місяців тому

      Oh. And by the way. When you say what planet. I’ve run a bathroom supply business for 25 years in the south east for normal average families so think I know. If you think I’m mad, take a look at the website of one Battersea install company. They say their installations start at 14k.

      Yeah well. When you use phrases like 'bang out a bathroom' maybe we are talking about a different league mate. I'm not trying to wind you up, but no way can you bang out a bathroom that needs tripping back to the walls, or the plasterboard replacing, re plastering, running all new pipes, recessed valves, all the parts, then herringbone tiling on 2 walls, stud wall sections built with integrated LED lighting, underfloor heating and everything else that foes with it. Bit different to a pedestal basin and a few sqm of bumpy whits with some vinyl flooring. You cannot possibly say a bathroom is a bathroom. They vary so much. I bough products for a neighbour of mine. Just an enrage house and with my trade rates direct from supplier they spent 14k just on their products and tiles whereas for another customer I've supplied everything for under 3.5k. Anyway. Not sure what part of the world you are in but I'm considered medium price and have been busy from recommendations for 25 years. All the best.@@kryptoniteee
