"A tear of marble still on the cheek of Time" (Rabindranath Tagore)
Soundtrack: Traditional Music of Ancient India

The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
The Taj Mahal (also "the Taj") is considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was cited as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage."
While the white domed marble mausoleum is its most familiar component, the Taj Mahal is actually an integrated complex of structures. Building began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, and employed thousands of artisans and craftsmen. The construction of the Taj Mahal was entrusted to a board of architects under imperial supervision including Abd ul-Karim Ma'mur Khan, Makramat Khan, and Ustad Ahmad Lahauri. Lahauri is generally considered to be the principal designer. Among the 20.000 persons who participated in the palace construction there are also many craftsmen and artists from Europe and Central Asia. Among them was also an Italian artist: Geronimo Veroneo, that someone suspect can be one of the possible architects of this monument.
In 1631, Shah Jahan, emperor during the Mughal empire's period of greatest prosperity, was griefstricken when his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their fourteenth child, Gauhara Begum.Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1632, one year after her death. The court chronicles of Shah Jahan's grief illustrate the love story traditionally held as an inspiration for Taj Mahal. The principal mausoleum was completed in 1648 and the surrounding buildings and garden were finished five years later. Emperor Shah Jahan himself described the Taj in these words:
"Should guilty seek asylum here / Like one pardoned, he becomes free from sin. / Should a sinner make his way to this mansion / All his past sins are to be washed away / The sight of this mansion creates sorrowing sighs / And the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes / In this world this edifice has been made; To display thereby the creator's glory".
The Taj Mahal incorporates and expands on design traditions of Persian architecture and earlier Mughal architecture. While earlier Mughal buildings were primarily constructed of red sandstone, Shah Jahan promoted the use of white marble inlaid with semi-precious stones, and buildings under his patronage reached new levels of refinement. The central focus of the complex is the tomb. This large, white marble structure stands on a square plinth and consists of a symmetrical building with an iwan (an arch-shaped doorway) topped by a large dome and finial.

This is what I would call real music. It is one of the most beautiful song I have ever heard (especially the first song). Old traditional music should be promoted and preserved. It is the result of that one particular culture and represents the feelings, way of life, events and how those people understood life in those times. Nowadays, the american and english music is promoted far too much. The music they make today feels cheap, artificial and sometimes utter rubish, by comparison with this song which feels heavy, sofisticated and full of substance. It is the multitude of cultures that makes our world so wonderful and exciting and that is the way we should keep it. Otherwise, one day in the future, there will be only one culture: anglo-american. Although I do like the anglo-american culture, it should be one of many and not the only culture in the world.

Globalization washed up the world, but these fantastic arab, indian and in general oriental song still resist to that. They are like a purification for the soul from the stress of modern society..

Everyone should no that this music was not composed in ancient India. This is the style of music used in movies about ancient Arabia. It's probably less than 100 years old.

i love this drum.. i cant sit in my seat when i hear it .. My feet just want to dance.. the same plays in Hema Malini's dance in Lekin "Jhoote Naina Bole" . what do we call this drum (dhol)??

    • @TheHamzyDumzy
      @TheHamzyDumzy 10 років тому

It's the tabla which you use by sitting on the floor. The dhol is the one you have around your neck used in Punjabi music.

You are making a big mistake...this music is not for belly dancing, it is like use country music for ballet.

Mumtaz gave Shah Jahan fourteen children, seven of whom died young. She died for childbirth at Burhanpur in the Deccan, June 17, 1631, while he followed Shah Jahan in his campaign against the Lodhi Dynasty's nobles.

How come taj Mahal be in ancient India 😂😂😂
Ancient India is way more ancient than Islam, Christianity, Judaism etc...
Don't connect our ancient culture, arts, classical music with any so called mughals, the looters, destroyers of temples... Who have contributed nothing 🔥🔥🔥

      @@danielkhalik6136 hey, don't call looters name...🔥🔥
      It doesn't work in India...
      Hindu kings fight against mughals...
      So no respect to mughaliya...
