- Dreams can become reality. Alpine Esports has put me in the Alpine F1 car as part of an F1 Driving Experience. This liveshow was streamed live on my Twitch channel, with the F1 drive being live from Paul Ricard and the F4, two-seater, F1 seat fit and preparation pre-recorded. This was the first time ever that a simracer with zero racing experience is put into a real F1 car. An unforgettable experience, I hope you enjoy the replay!

Great experience, but that wasn't an Alpine F1 car, it was a Lotus E20 from 2012 that used the Renault 2.4litre V8. Renault bought the team in 2016 and rebranded to Alpine in 2021
Its the same team Renault just different names since they bought Benetton in the urly 2000.They went Lotus when Renault had problems post crash-gate ,dunno why they went Lotus but it doesnt matter.Even now i suspect the name Renault will return in 2026 when the regulation changes once more.

At least this is one of the rare renault cars that won races. Cars from this era were ugly as hell lol.

Plus don't forget they cute the circuit so even if they allowed him to reach 7 gear for example he eventfully can't reach it in a short straight line

Amazing video! I drove a 2011 Williams F1 car (FW33) around the Magny Cours GP Circuit in 2022. Nothing drives like an F1 car. It is so far beyond anything else. Good work!

its funny to see non f1 drivers put down the slowest lap time that has ever been done in the car, but still put down a faster lap time than they will ever do on a given track lol.

I would give all the money I’ve ever had to start in a formula Ford and then at least work up to an F3 car. I’d be fooling myself if I thought I could handle an F2 car and definitely not an F1 car. And I know these tracks well. God I love Formula racing.

the funny thing with these cars is that you need to go fast in order for the downforce to work. So being scared to go too quick actually only works against you.

I am an ambassador for the Alpine Esports team. As part of Alpine’s efforts to bridge the gaps between simracing and real racing, they put me in the F1 car 😄

They do for experience days, revs are limited, and I think 7th gear is restricted. It's supposed to be a life experience, not death... And they probably want to protect the cars...
They limit the revs so its less engine maintenance on older F1 cars usually. They limited the revs on the Mercedes AMG One forexample so they wouldn't have to do an entire engine rebuild once every year.
What is the price of having an experience like this?
They are just trying to find replacments for the 23 season

I drove an F1 car as well myself, but my experience wasn't as good as yours, because the engine was stuttering a lot and I never got any confidence in the car and therefor no temperature at all in brakes or tyres. @@Karsonhamiltonracing Current cars, yes. The 2012 cars, which the one in the video is, have 7 gears, not 8. The 8th gear came in 2014.
They really restrict the cars for the driving experience so that normal people and even to some extent amateur racing drivers can actually drive them , it’s running in literally the lowest modes and I’m pretty sure it’s got special built in aids like slight TC, slight ABS so that you can still lightly lock up but not like in the race used cars, I think they also have a less difficult hand clutch so that people can actually pull away without stalling it because an F1 hand clutch is so difficult to use, as for the gears I think the car is automatically limited with it’s gear ratios and to what gear it can go up to, but still an absolutely cool af once in a life time experience

What's the consequences if you where to spin the car?
The contract with Winfield Racing says the customer is responsible for damage to the car. So a crash could be financially ruinous for the customer.

Well they have plenty of Lotus E20 in their garage surely.
And this one is a modified E20 anyway, for this purpose. Lotus/Renault/Alpine made the car as easy to drive as possible, including adding the traction control.
