Schammasch definitely push the boundaries, but in the right way and while still maintaining the core element or identity of the band/music. It's a slippery slope, and not all bands can accomplish this successfully. Look at Opeth. Mike pushed the boundaries... all the way back to the 70's! haha. I don't smoke weed, or indulge in hallucinogenic substances, so I don't ever think I'll ever understand what the hell he's trying to accomplish other than putting me to sleep. Just saying there's a right way and wrong way to push boundaries and so far, Schammasch continues to push them the right way and in the right direction. Cheers to Chris for all of his hard work on the latest opus. Splendid job!
Looks like I have found my master. I see black robes and an ornate mask, and I'm sold. But honestly, as inevitable as the tides of the Old Ocean, your work is once again, a masterpiece. And these visuals. Getting massive Soulsborne vibes, and I'm 100% here for it.
The scene at 2:30 makes me think of the Titan II submarine and the fate of its occupants. And now the eerie vibe of the whole clip makes me think that this is what the afterlife might be looking for those people in their watery grave.
I have a feeling this Maldoror collection you seem to be putting together is going to go down as one of my favorite musical artifacts of all time. Thank you for this, and the inspiration you continue to provide.
I saved the viewing and listening of this piece for a time when I knew I could be fully commited to it and oh boy, it was well worth the wait! I was immediately compelled by the beauty of the movie (yes I dare say it's a movie!), it is such quality work there are so much details and dedication behind all of it. And the music, the way the composition itself tells a story, the powerful building up and always the flawless ability to switch to radically different atmospheres. I am under the spell and it makes me want to read the poems. Once again Schammasch surpasses every expectations!
Whenever I listen to his music I can feel a personal transcendence and a search for a deeper understanding of existence, exploring one's own paths of self-discovery and challenging all limits while seeking a greater connection to the essence of the eternal. Greetings from Mexico!
Some time ago Schammasch introduced me to The Maldoror Chants through the Hermaphrodite EP. Since then, I've researched and read The Maldoror Chants in 3 languages. Coming from someone who live near the sea I always loved the verses where Maldoror talks about the oceans. Now I discovered that the band that introduced me to this literary masterpiece is developing an album around the Old Ocean verses. I couldn't ask for a better gift!
I love everything you guys do! Every time I listen to your music, it excites me just as much as it did when I discovered you all several years ago. I genuinely feel like you guys make music that stimulates the mind
I'm not surprised at all! Chris and the drummer have known what they were doing since the days of Totenwinter! From the early works of Schammasch to today, the maturity of their approach has become SUBLIME in the true artistic sense of the word! This new work nods to "Hearts of No Light" with an even more intricate weave of solutions that, in my opinion, will require careful listening to be fully appreciated in all their brilliance! Soon I'll be moving from Sardinia to 20 minutes from Basel... I hope to catch a great show in October!
Where can I find their music as Totenwinter? I've been looking for that for long and I can't find a single clue. Was it just a name change or something before releasing Sic Lvceat Lvx? Cause' I remember something about a split or a member shifting, but I can't find the info anywhere
Actually just clicked on this before bed as I liked the thumbnail. Wow, absolutely beautiful music! Will be checking out more of your stuff as I love this sound.
Jesteście moją muzyczną religią.Dziękuję za wszystko czego dokonaliście. Schammasch może jednak warto było przyjść na tę Dolinę Łez by móc Was doświadczyć.
Love the creativity of this band. Absolutely beautiful music, even at its darkest. The accompanying video is stunning. I echo what others have said: Please come to the US.
This was amazing! I'd never heard of you guys before this video showed up in my recommendations, and DAMN what a way to make a first impression. Thank goodness I have time time to explore your back catalog before the new album comes out.
You're in for a treat, their back catalog is phenomenal. Hearts of No Light is my personal favorite (although Triangle is also very very good), works well on acid too! 😁
As usual, there is something deep in your music, harmonies… melodies… well, and the video gives a stronger & wider feeling… lyrics too… Thanks sooo much ❤️🙏🏻☀️🤘🏻❗️
Einfach nur großartig 🔥🖤 das Warten hat sich gelohnt. Freue mich schon sehr auf das neue Album. Hoffe es gibt eine Tour und ein Konzert in meiner Nähe 🙏🏼
It's feels like an eternity since the last album and this surprise* single has appeared quite a pleasantry. Both the song and the visuals are ethereal in their own place, but the whole package is something beyond I have the vocabulary to describe - the way the song morphs into the last 1/3 through repetition and into the blastbeat galore, culminating with brilliant vocal arrangement over the melancholic A#m variants, along with the moody and symbolic video that resembles the work of Ulcerate and even the movie Prometheus, completes a whole artistic package that is just addictively reeling you in. The more I watch and listen, the more I want to redo it all over again. I am always and again in awe of how you gentlemen are able to make a wall of sound that transcends black metal and goes into territories of movie scoring, I dare say - the part at 06:48 and onwards is pure bliss, and the outro is something I want to analitically indulge into while daydreaming... I cannot wait for the album! Thank you!
Something about the vibe to their music is just amazing and really hits me hard
It’s nice to have security in a chaotic world sometimes. I always know before I even tune in that the new Schammasch is going to melt my face.
Please, never stop making music.
Hope you guys come back to the America some day. Would to love experience this beautiful art live.
One of my favorite bands, they never dissapoint. But this exceeds beyond expectations.
太棒了,期待新专辑。我有把Schammasch以前的采访翻译给中国的黑金属乐迷,希望有一天可以在北京看到你们的演出。
You have one great black metal band there - Zuuriake

Man who has only played Soulsborn games seeing anything bleak: Getting a lot of 'Soulsborne' vibes from this...

Incredible. I'm so grateful that Schammasch is back and seemingly as honed in as ever
The darkness that prevails is found here. Love the heavy melodics! \\,,//
All-around amazing stuff, guys. New Album rocks, incredible how you keep this kind of Quality up.

I can hear some Rosetta Stoned-esque Maynard in there 😁 Awesome song! 🤘🤘🤘

Agreed, this has more nuance and detail that reveals itself with each new listen. Such a great track!

Perhaps the best song I have heard this year... Music video kicks ass too.

Great video for an exceptional song.
So interesting work with many symbols and references to mythology. Admires the integrity and composure of all elements. Its amazing!
I liked this one as it reminded me of Earthside's "All We Knew And Ever Loved".
