- Nearly 100,000 travellers are impacted as the WestJet mechanic strike continues across the country. Afua Baah speaks with an expert who says summer tourism could be impacted if the labour dispute isn’t resolved soon.
Canada gives the best monopoly to these airlines among other airlines, yet they don't pay the workers good
Yeah $190,000 a year, plus an offer for a 22% raise, isn’t good enough for anyone
I had to cancel my 1 week vacation, talked to WJ, they wouldn't even let me move to different dates.
I'm expected to lose hundreds in hotel cancelation fee.
WestJet just need to go bankrupt, I blame both sides.
I don't care if AC is only airline left in Canada, I'd rather never travel again, then fly with Westjet again. Just thinking about it makes me sick to my stomach.
They already make about 40-60 dollars an hour and they want more. F off.
Their pensions should be used to pay for cancelation fees.
💔💔💔💔💔my kids are in France, what a mess, I hated West Jet all my life, never go with them……i always choose to fly with Air Canada
Ruining Canada Day for all was your selfish goal Westjet
We have a ski team going out on Tuesday , thousands on the line
So when it will be fixed ??? How many days more it will take any one knw that ???
We were stranded in Phoenix for 24 hours. Bought 2 one way tickets on Alaskan airlines 1000$ USD each to get back home to Calgary. Now the real work begins : Trying to get refunded and compensated. Sigh………….
22% pay increase offered to the mechanics was rejected. They felt ruining over 100,000 customer's travel plans is more fun. Who's the greedy ones this time?
They already make $150000/year and a 22 % pay increase is not enough, talk about greed
@@lonematrixaverage is 109,000 top earners make 150,000 to 170,000. Obviously still a lot of money and saying you want more than 22% is insane. Unless those earnings are because mechanics work 12 hour days. Didn’t research average hours worked a week. If they are putting in 60 hours a week then they all deserve 150,000 minimum
@@lonematrixthey don’t make $150,000, they wouldn’t even make that under the new proposed contract 😂
WestJet was the one who stopped negotiating and forced the strike. I can tell you aren’t the brightest commenter but companies expecting the government to force employees into contracts they reject is blatant dystopian tyranny. Fortunately WestJet didn’t get their way and their gamble backfired which is ruining travels plans for their passengers. Guess people should book on a better airline 😂
@@lonematrixoh yes believe those two Eurotwins numbers, what about say they they take half your pension fund to fund a wage increase that it sounds good?
You dont say
Hope the strike lasts all summer,
WestJet is a horrible airline.
Ever since they were unionized, they've gone downhill
There is thing called travel insurance.
