    I’m so glad to find you..I just started at 59 years old, and was trying to paint with watercolor like it’s oil, (beginner there too..) stroke by stroke for realism, but, I’m going to let go and really try to “get it” with the flow..thanks for your videos, your work is beautiful!

      Thank you for your kind words John. I've heard stories that are very similar to yours - artists picking up watercolours and using them in the same way they would use oils or acrylics, but watercolours are so very different indeed. They have a mind of their own :) When I stopped trying to control them much I started getting the results I was after. They love water and they want to flow. Enjoy your watercolour journey!

      John, I started in my 60's and followed the same path. I'm now learning to paint more loosely, letting the water and pigment work their magic and trusting the process. 😊

      @@AnastasiaMily’they love water and want to flow’ that’s so true! I’m only just starting out myself at 59 but I’ve always been drawn to watercolour and never understood why people treat it like oils and acrylic. It’s always felt like caging a bird☹️
      I finally got the tundra violet paint and did your mono piece with the two trees. It was so enjoyable and by far the most comfortable and intuitive tutorial I’ve done to date. I’m trying to direct people to you you in my FB watercolour group, you deserve so many more subscribers. Big fan here, I love your work❤

      @@pjprimadonna Thank you so much 🙏 I really appreciate it. So glad you enjoyed the Tundra Violet video. It is such a fun colour to play with! One of my favourite things about watercolour is how unpredictable it often is, and Tundra Violet is next-level unpredictable.

    Abstract art is not as simple as people think you have to make it look like it’s there(sky,trees etc) but at the same time not do too much
    Beautiful and awesome work👌🏻

    Nice demo of this set--I have the Tundra violet and have used it some...need to loosen up and just splash it across wet paper for a simple sky like this. Granulating paints in general fascinate me, there's no such equivalent paint in the airbrush world I come from. I got a little 8 ml. tube of that WN Cotman Paynes Gray based on how it granulated so well for you...I needed a Payne's gray anyway. Aarrggh, one more day until new paper--I need to play so badly! Fortunately I have some airbrush work to do on a couple of cards & envelopes I need to finish...eventually I plan on adding small watercolor paintings to these. Oh, I am subbed--I really like learning a loose, abstract kind of style painting....a couple of other artists I learn a lot from are Jean Lurssen and Linda Brown, there are others of course.

      Thank you for watching and for being here. And for your kind words. I love Jean Lurssen's style, she is so free with her paints - it is inspiring to watch.
      Tundra Violet is such a mesmerising colour, especially when mixed with a ton of water, and you are right - it is perfect for the skies. Have fun playing with your new paper and paints! Happy painting!

    Great granulation…something to think about…the fact that those pigments do not dry lighter….the intensity stays first time around!

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Рік тому +1

      It was certainly a nice surprise. Also, I love that these paints can be purchased separately as well, not just as a set.

    • @allanpennington
      @allanpennington Рік тому +1

      @@AnastasiaMily I imagine it happens since the granulating colours are not ground as fine as other paints. Thus they are 'heavier' and dwell and pool in the valleys of the textured paper, and there is more pigment so they don't lighten as they dry.

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Рік тому +1

      @@allanpennington I think you are right!! I'll have to test with my other granulating paints, I am intrigued now

    Outstanding demonstration of granulating paints. I only have one granulating paint on my pallet (W & N Mars black) definitely need to get some more. Ordering some of the Schmincke pigments based on what I see in your video; thanks for the demo.

    Does that palette really keep your paints moist? Lovely painting as always!

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Рік тому +1

      Nope, it doesn’t 😁 I keep it with the lid open anyway and spray water on my paints before each painting session. This palette works well for me as the wells are slanted, are a good size, and there are 36 of them

  • @areesha22
    @areesha22 Рік тому +1

    Looks like they aren’t super easy to rewet. I am all about granulation but for some reason these schminke super granulating ones just don’t appeal to me. I really like when they have a good range of value and seems like some are pretty limited in that way. Love your paintings so much btw!

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Рік тому +2

      They are not as easy to rewet for sure. Better use them freshly squeezed out as I mentioned at the end of the video. But when combined with other paints on my palette that have a great range of value these Schmincke ones will be a great addition of my regular collection of colours. Thank you Areesha!
