    Lily, our 2019 Sprinter, 170 extended, XD, 4x4, has been in 47 of the 48 and North Dakota might happen next month. Lily has been from Vancouver Island to Key West. From Los Angeles to Montreal. She's been to the bottom of Death Valley and 12,000 ft up in Rocky Mountain National Park. All of this would have been a lot less enjoyable without our HD series, 24v, split Cruise N Comfort AC system. Save your roof space for a deck or better yet, more solar. Don't risk another hole in your roof; you won't know you have a leak until the damage is done. Cruise N Comfort and with confidence.
    PS: we did have a problem with our system; it kept losing its charge. Nobody would consider diagnosing the problem, much less fix it because it's a Mercedes and if they didn't build the van, they didn't want to fix somebody else's problem - and that's exactly what it was, our up-fitter builder didn't crimp the lines at the evaporator properly.
    Even though she was out of warranty, both the upfitter's and Cruise N Comfort's, we took Lily to THE specialist - to Cruise N Comfort in Tempe, AZ. Chris (Chris Frye, Owner) got under the van and spotted the crimping problem immediately. Chris set us up with new (and improved libes and fittings) and a local guy that could install them. Yeah, happy campers again!
    Thank you Chris.

      Chris is such a great guy! I'm glad you got it fixed and are able to keep on keeping on. Hope we see ya out there some day! We've hit 33 states so far in just 9 months. We've slowed down a lot now though so we'll get those other ones at some point 😃

    Glad to have you both back! It has been a minute! Just got back from 2,600 mile ride from Detroit to Iowa then up thru Minnesota with a quick stop at Paisley Park then on to the Canadian border. We stopped at as many waterfalls as we could along the way! Then cut across Wisconsin and the U.P. of Michigan. Ending up back home for our 25th Anniversary!!! Now someone needs to wash 2,600 miles of bugs off my bike!!!! Warm breezes on you both!!!

      Awesome trip! Better put the wife to work on the bike! 😁 and thanks for the welcome back. The van is done (mostly) so you can expect more video in the future. And even maybe a creepy white van will find its way to your driveway as well haha.

    I lost you guys somehow after the name change ... sub/alert still on not sure whats going on. Glad you're still around I have a lot of catching up to do. Best addition to our camper was a 360 night vision camera getup with motion detection set for human/bear sized intruders. Puts you at ease in the middle of nowhere or a rest stop when you hear something outside... along with the Glock of course. Keep up the fun!

    People rave about these to "Save Roof Space". They take up A TON of living space on the inside. Not sure it's worth the trade off.

    • @LifeontheBlacktop
      @LifeontheBlacktop  5 місяців тому +1

      Yeah you kind of have to pick your poison. It allowed us to put more solar on the roof to have more charging power to replenish what the AC uses. And honestly, I still wish we had more solar. We put the life box where we did because the space was awkward anyway, so it allowed us a bit of a utility closet. We do like that we don’t have a giant AC on the roof too. Allows us to be a little more stealthy when we need it

    ........ take this off to get to it🤬. (nut on the ground wire) Turn a little bit on this side, turn a little bit on that side, turn a little bit on this side....... That pretty much sums up my 45 year career as a jet mechanic. Aerospace engineer's love to design stuff that way. Van's looking good! Another major step done. 👍😁

    Good job bud, although you might have issues with the condenser fans where you placed them. As a truck driver I've an apu ( alternative power unit) they always put it high on the truck. Against the back wall of the sleeper. Hopefully you won't have a problem with it underneath the van. You 2 stay safe

      We plan to add a rock guard to it hopefully this month to help keep it from getting damaged. It's the only place it would fit.

    I checked price. 5000 for a unit ten times more expensive than a regular mini split. its stealthy hands down but too expensive

    • @LifeontheBlacktop
      @LifeontheBlacktop  3 місяці тому

      If I remember correctly the 12 volt mini splits are still over $3,000 and they require you to roof mount. The benefit to this one is it leaves room on the roof for more solar. I know the 120v ones are much cheaper but then you're tethered to a campground.
