Yes it was. A brtilliant aircraft in its day, and would have been bought by the U.S. Navy if politics hadn't got in the way... here is a great documentary about the 'Bucc'; ua-cam.com/video/-8XqHBMU67k/v-deo.html
Gotta thank the tornados for our new roof, they made (relatively) low level passes over our house, back in the 90s (we live not far from a large military training facility) and the apparently shook the roof of our house a bit so they had to pay us a new one. Still standing strong. Plus: Much better than the original from the 60s. Thanks.

Don't blame you, its a bit of a... harsh edit of the original music that's been taken out to avoid Content ID. These Castle Vision documentaries tended to have 3 or 4 music interlude sections to footage, that have mostly been cut out here for the same reason (The original run time was closer to 55 minutes). The documentary would originally open with Red Rocks and an extended section on the F3/ADV would play out to Don't Look back, both from CHAPAV81_Alternative Rock, which was a stock music collection.
One of my favourite jets. Like the F-14, it's kind of a weird case for me since I really hate how it looks like when the wings are not swept back; but, once they are, it just looks *too* gorgeous.
14:26 Does anyone here know if those bombs are Mk84s? I've seen multiple pictures of the Mk83 1000Ib bombs (four or eight) underfuselage but never 4x 2000Ib. Maybe it was just a trials fit?
@@militaryaviationtv Thank you for the reply. I must have been in one of my philosophical moods. However, when you think about it, every piece of military hardware, from a spear to an aircraft carrier, is built to kill or destroy and, in so doing, run the risk of suffering the same fate. One day, perhaps, if our species can make it that far, we will realise that such things are abominations.
What's with the LOUD music towards the end? Got my sound cranked up to hear the commentary for 95% of the video, then suddenly loud obnoxious music at the end.
So early Tornado crew loaded their mission just like I loaded my ZX Spectrum back in the early 80's. Guess that cassette even made the same kind of early modem sound.
Should have been retained and modernised as it proved beyond all doubt, it was recognised as one of the best all round planes produced. Not like the USA, Britain seem to have a habit of mothballing planes stating upgrades are not viable, what a load of BS. Anyway, it was rewarding to see Germany retain their Tornados and should be commended for their decision recognising the greatness of the Tornado.
The German Tornadoes looked ok when they were on excercise at waddington last year, and the Saudi air force were seen on Donna nook range doing circuits

Really enjoyed watching this. That RAF anti airfield mission in GW1. Easily the most dangerous of the entire war.

Awesome aircraft. Plus they went through the Mach Loop lower and faster than the USAF do!
Yep, a great aircraft in its day, and sadly missed in the skies of the UK.

Created for one of two purposes. To destroy, or be destroyed.
Not quite sure the Tornado was designed to be destroyed, Tom...
