Still have a lot to learn but every single one of your videos is a work of art. Every single frame in your videos are jam packed with incredible compositions and I could watch them forever. So thank you for all you do. Seriously.

    Firstly, great video about the trends. Very informative. As a designer of 15+ years, I agree we have to adapt with the technology that comes out. However, there is a reason people are mad at this new tech. Due to it essentially stealing and scrapping from well known artists who spent years at their craft… and without their permission. So while AI may have a place somewhere on the spectrum of art, it needs rules. As a result there is a lawsuit taking place to impress the need for copyright rules specifically for MidJourney and Stable Diffusion. Guess we’ll see where AI ends up.

      That's something that has always turned me off about graphic design. graphic designers seem to be obsessed with following trends. Graphic design is an industry full of followers. @Hellequin Maskharat The difference is that there is no artist in existence that could have that big of a visual dictionary. If there were, it would put a disproportionate amount of artists out of their jobs (what is currently happening). Collage artists do not use 10k pictures, you know that is unrealistic and there IS a difference between human and AI in effecting the art industry and human labor (which would normally be a good thing for AI to take over jobs, but not in this capitalist hellscape where the companies will soon expect 1 person to do the work of what was once 100 people and output 10x as much with the help of AI)

    ...GREAT VIDEO (You know your stuff - SUBSCRIBED!)
    Remember the 90s? Everything looked like it came out of the Movie The Matrix. Every site, programmers GUI, and dress sense was dark....
    A Designer (A REAL designer) doesn't follow trends, a real designer understands the anthropological and by extension sociological roots that generated the trends they are seeing and then CREATES a unique design that stands FOREVER, that has integrity.
    To have THOSE skills, you need to study the history of design and typography including the motivation and era that generated them, the science of how our brains have evolved to absorb everything we see and digest - our psychology...but in this society that expects immediate gratification at the click of a button and has learned that there is a pill for everything and hard work and dedication is for chumps, who's going to waste their time doing that when they can just 'COPY THE NEXT DESIGN TREND'

      The creators of AI art that use specifically artist-targeted generative models are a novel issue but they are a **very** few and will always be the minority. I believe in the future these users will become "subscribers" to artists' custom trained models.
      The majority of creators use very intricate prompts (positive and negative promts). "Prompt Engineering" is an honest skill.
      The controversy around the inclusion of artists in the training data is nonsense. The exact images cannot be regenerated - articles floating around claiming the opposite also cited that those particular models were trained on just a handful of images instead of billions therefore those AI models were under-trained with the intention to find a case where it would spit out the exact image it was trained on. Style cannot be copyrighted.

      @@macjonald that's like saying using Grammarly for autocorrect is embarrassing. It's not. Accessibility is not a weakness, it is a way to move forward.
      You may say, but if using AI encourages people to learn prompts (which in turn makes them learn new words and increase their vocabulary) and ask a valid question (which makes them more inquisitive) then what you are stating is contradictory really. It fosters creativity and create skill in certain areas that 'Traditional' artist might be lacking.
      And there is nothing wrong with that. I am a 'Traditional' artist in a sense and I am still confident in my talent but I also utilize AI in my workflow. Just like how people move from using a phone to a smartphone, it is a way of moving forward.
      It's the opposition that trying to dissuade those are embarrassing. They cannot move forward and accept that reality. And if you ever feel threatened your 'traditional' way of art will be irrelevant then that's just a skill issue, cope harder and do even better than art then.
      The growth of Art is a sign that artists need to do better. Do better than even AI art couldn't even compare to your imagination, originality, and emotions. It's not a bad sign that 'traditional' art is dying; it is a sign that art needs to evolve beyond AI art.
      Perspectives can be a beautiful thing. You can open your mind and see the possibilities it can bring.

      Trends are a tool, and like any tool they have a time and a place. Somebody wouldn't use a screwdriver to dig a hole in the garden as example.
      The main goal of any design is to communicate something to a targeted audience. A design trend may be beneficial to deliver that message effectively, depending on the audience and the setting of the design itself. To me it isn't a black and white situation, where trends are all bad or all good. However, I think they should stay out of logo designing entirely.

    I have to agree with you about the ai, and I'm a graphic designer and an artist as a hobby, mostly illustrator. But people making a whole product just using ai don't have a lot of talent in my eyes. For example with that book, I too saw it and the huge ratio it was getting. If only they took the time to hire somebody or learn how to edit and fix the mistakes that Ai makes, how to keep everything in one style instead having the girl looking different in the next page, hell, just edit it.
    I view AI as I would view pinterest, great to take ideas and inspiration but I don't just look in the shearch bar and take whatever picture Pinterest gives me and say that I'm and artist and did that. That is what a lot of people using ai rn like the guy wit the book are, they brag about how they only spent hours into making a book that has so many flaws and is written like garbage.

    It's so frustrating to here influencers say there is nothing you can do, or nothing I can do about it. WHAT ABOUT WE?! There is something we all can do about it. Because the AI will not just remain a tool to collaborate with in the distant future if "WE ALL DON'T START ACTING NOW". Both Disney, Pixar, and Lucas Films were caught manipulating their hiring, raises, and pay structures to avoid paying standard industry rates to their designers. So it's obvious that once the AI has evolved enough to replace a whole design team, corporations will seek to exploit AI to replace us, or atleast leverage it to create a pay wall and the design salary will sink like the Titanic. Let's use the tiniest bit of critical thinking and not just say, "Just go along with it because we can't do anything about it". That is literally how bad cultural shifts happen like the Rise of Communism in every country communism exists. LOL Just think about how employers, and clients are going to under value your design process when they think a machine is doing all of your creative work. "OH IT SEEMS SO EASY FOR YOU GUYS NOW, WHY ARE YOUR RATES SO HIGH?" Bro, we gotta consider the pros & the cons, not just the pros, because its cool, fun, and easy. Easy is the biggest Cautionary Tale of all. If it seems too good to be true it most likely is. Great video though. Much Appreciated!

    As a graphic designer for brands, by all means be AWARE of trends, but following trends is a big mistake if your goal is to build enduring brands. Brands are challenging because you want a recognizable icon that is differentiated. The brand should have enough personality to create an emotional connection, but still endure and work with the things you might have to make mix it with for various market applications. I always cringe when I see the hoards race to a new trend. It happened to the brand for a company I started and left.. it got the ‘GAP’ generic lowercase rebrand and list all of its equity overnight. Just invisible, and nobody cares about it. Shame. Beware of the trends, kids.

    Artists actually didn't get angry about AI at the start. Many actually feel excited at what it can do. It's the AI users that start to provoke artists by directly sending them AI cloned arts, attacking artists for "charging art", and telling them they are going to lose their job, etc. After a while it escalates into the war and people putting the blame on AI for enabling such behavior.
    Imagine a bunch of assholes invading any comment space of your social media to tell people that they will draw the same way for cheaper, Now you have the very same AI community attacking each other for "stealing their art/prompt".

    I'm an artist and designer, and I've always loved your videos. I'm a bit disappointed with your nonchalance with Midjourney. AI Image generators are horrible because it blatantly steals artwork from artists and painters. It's not a tool you should be advocating...

    I like the video, but I completely disagree with the "there's nothing we can do about AI" mentality. There needs to be proper regulation, rules and most importantly, consent from all the artists who had their entire works stolen by a system that profits from them.

  • @MyNamaAdam
    @MyNamaAdam Рік тому

    I have to disagree very much on the Ai discourse. It's not really out of the bag since it uses stolen artists works in their database and they are pursuing legal action due to no compensation. It is still however a good tool for us to work with but we still as humans have to see the ethics behind everything we do.

    How do you think real graphic designers will stand out from ai generated designs?

    • @SatoriGraphics
      @SatoriGraphics Рік тому +2

      I think clients and brands who want real human design will likely pay more for it, and there will be less and less of these designers to hire. There will likely be a lot of designers using mainly a.i, and they will earn less money per project, but will probably be able to work on multiple projects in a week. This is just a guesstimation and generalisation though

I will always support people who actually have talent themselves, their not going anywhere and traditional crafts will be appreciated more
