One of the greatest songs ever penned. And no one sings it better than the great Eddie Holman. This one of a kind high falsetto singer made this song a classic that will live in the hearts of millions for generations to come. Thanks for this jewel of a find. It's Priceless!
We'll never have artists like Eddie and all of those great voices from the 60's and 70's again so glad to have grown up back then. And this style of music was loved by everyone . If we play more of this music maybe it would bring us all together . There was nothing but love coming from these songs something thats missing today.
One of the all-time great songs. I remember seeing this clip in 1970. Audiences always wanted him to sing this and he always gave them what they wanted, decades later. Never sings it like he's tired of it - gives 110 percent. Sings it just as well now as he had 50 years back. That's such a great and moving melody. No wonder so many people love this tune.
One of my favorite songs in the world! Story behind this song. My now deceased husband and I became next door neighbors at age 14 when his family moved from another part of the state next to us. He always told me he loved me the minute he met me. Through high school I dated the same guy for 2 1/2 years, and when our relationship ended "Bob" asked me out a few times and I accepted stating we were just friends. While in our senior year of school "Bob" came to me with an engagement ring and asked me to marry him after graduation. I told him I loved him like a brother and I couldn't marry him. Of course, we remained friends over the years. I married and had a baby. Funny thing is, at that time you didn't keep your babies in the room with you, you had to visit the nursery. I had been put to sleep during childbirth and I didn't fully wake until 1:00 am. "Bob" and his mother had been to visit during visiting hours and they saw my baby before I did. "Bob" married and our lives went on. After 4 years of marriage "Bob" divorced after finding his wife with another man. That was October of that year. After 5 1/2 years of marriage my divorce ended after I found my husband with my best friend. That was November of that year. In March the following year "Bob" called and asked me out saying I needed to get out and let it be known that I was available again. I agreed, we went out, and I found out later from one of his friends that several guys had asked for my phone number or asked "Bob" to introduce us. He told them NO WAY, I was his. On that date that night we danced to this song with him singing it to me. He told me that night that I would marry him this time! I said oh you think so huh? He said I know so! That was a night in March and we were married July 6th! This wonderful man was the love of my life. We had a daughter together and I had my daughter from my first marriage. Her father wasn't present in her life. "Bob" for all accounts and purposes was her "Dad". He raised her as his own, when he was asked how many kids he had he always said two. To her he is her only "Dad". We had 30 wonderful years together before his passing in 2001. Every time I hear Lonely Girl I remember that night so many years ago. I love you Bob and will be with you again some day!
Joyce Dallman Such a Beautiful Story❤️ I’m so sorry for your husband passing away! You will see your best friend and love of your life again! God Bless You!
I know I have listened to this beautiful song at least a million times, and it still gets me! what a gift he has,and he is still doing it and doing it great 40 some years later!!!
Lee Wilson : Me too...This song is so beautiful, it`s lifting me up right away. Taking me way back in time, when life was so much better, and music too.
Such an absolutely Superb Song and Artist - i was 9 at the time but this song was just so Distinctive in so many ways!!!!!!Hope you are going strong Eddie and Thank you for being part of some wonderful lifetime of memories to the world!!!!!!!
I still have the original single copy of this fabulous song, this will always be one of my favourite songs , a timeless classic... I still love this song....
Rick Sovel is absolutely correct! Mister Holman is a great singer, and the band are amazing. I was a very little kid in East Lynn, Massachusetts when I heard this number for the first time on a local am radio station when I was going to The North Shore Shopping Center in West Peabody with my father and mother in their Ford L.T.D.Gee, I think thast it was a Delco Radio that brought this tune to me! What a trip down Memory Lane!
Just a fantastic song all the way around. They don't make music like this anymore and his voice set this song apart from the rest. Have always liked this song and have it on a 45 rpm from back in it's day.
+Antoine Barber I'm sorry you were spoke to like that, nothing but bullying!! I reported both of his comments! I'm a senior citizen & I appreciate that a young man likes this music that I myself love, too! Not too many young people listen to our classics, and I was very proud that you didn't stoop to his level....Sound like a good kid to me, sorry I call anybody under 30 a kid! lol So keeping listening and commenting...Peace

Rev. Holman has the greatest version of this classic hit. He was the original singer of Hey There..., not an artist who covered the song. I've been in the music field for over 55 years. I love many genres, and I'm being completely honest.
