  • a petite tour as we head out to plant the first peas. i like to use the same damp compost mix that i use for the soil blocks to pack a loo roll and sow a pea in each, about one knuckle deep. they’re so much faster started in the warm house. dappled sunlight is just right for hardening them off over a couple of field trips, and when they look robust they can go out in the garden. i love to sow more peas when the previous is well germinated, because a succession of peas is pleasing. yes, i did blank on the name of the wild-sown greens that had to make way for the peas; that’s sheep sorrel, so lemony and delicate. i tried rehoming some of it and a daisy too; both are sulking.
what do you sow in succession?
how do you like this miniature version of the farm and farmhouse tours? you can get a whole year’s worth of monthly tours, just pop me a note and i’ll sort you out.
