August 4, 2020 Special Election

The City of Pascagoula will host a special election on August 4, 2020 regarding a franchise fee agreement with Mississippi Power. Under the current ordinance, Mississippi Power gives the City of Pascagoula 3% of revenue generated from residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Citizens will vote to approve an ordinance that keeps the franchise fee at 3% for the next 25 years instead of going down to 2%. If the ordinance fails, the City would lose $350,000 annually, which is why it is important to vote yes. The ordinance does not affect the rate a customer pays whatsoever, only the percentage the City receives from Mississippi Power. Absentee voting can be done at City Hall any day leading up to the election.
