World Ocean Day was commemorated on 8th of June with this year's theme "Revitalization:Collective Action for Oceans".
Oceans play an important role in regulating the climatic actions of the Earth and also in contributing 50% of world's Oxygen that we breathe there by supporting life on Earth. It is also of generating the Economy of the world through activities like Tourism, Mining, Shipping which is why we tag Oceans as the foundation of Economy. World Ocean Day forces us to reflect on the need to conserve and protect Oceans from all forms of direct and indirect human activities that exploit Oceans and its ecosystem.
In this lecture we will discuss the various challenges forced upon the oceans and its implications on all levels of life, economy and environment.
