  • Comicbook was lucky enough to attend the first IMAX screening of Furiosa, and director George Miller was kind enough to talk about what it was like to see his creation on the massive IMAX screen...and the exact moment he realized he needed to make a Furiosa movie after Mad Max...and just how he went about creating the iconic Furiosa!

We can't wait to see his epic on the big screen. While waiting for FURIOSA to come out, we shorten the waiting time with HOPE AND GLORY

Blows my mind that this BAMF director with a diverse and GOATED filmography was a Doctor

Definitely a sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road is coming eventually. Fury Road ended on such a cliffhanger.

As someone who is a little in the know, it hinges big time on Furiosa being a massive success at the b.o. more so than even Fury Road was.

@@K_LCollectibles_Games It's crazy how much that story has evolved.
It is called The Wasteland, and it's actually another prequel. It started off way back in the 80's and 90's about a TV show akin to Xena: Warrior Princess where Max tries to rebuild the Interceptor we see in FR, then it evolved to a novella predating the final Fury Road story as Miller mentioned, then it transitioned into a video game (not the 2015 one that's a whole other can of worms), then a screenplay, and as of recently back into a show.
It covers how Max went full blown Mad and feral over the course of the year up to where FR opens, so it's very bleak, and they would currently rather have it be a show rather than film as it would be too dark overall.
Unfortunately, Fury Road was always where Max's story ends, originally having him fall in love with Furiosa and joining her in the citadel, it was changed to fit more with Max's role in the franchise: helping others find resolve, but only ever passing by, never letting go of the past which haunts him, so he leaves.
Whether it currently still exists as a show or film, or whether Miller (turning 80 this year) will even direct it can change, but that only matters if Furiosa is a massive success, so I'll certainly do my part and witness the madness.
