Great content as always, those expecting Onvo just to sell well because it's a NIO sub-brand are sadly mistaken. Hopefully Nio takes notes from this content
very insightful, thanks Marcel. I also think Onvo should play on the more "popular" aspect as it's targeting more modest customers and it needs to grow fast
How does it work when it comes to battery swapping? Do you buy the battery up front or just pay a subscription for using the battery? If you don’t buy the battery when you buy the car, the up front cost would be a good headline price in comparison to brands without battery swapping infrastructure. Make sense from a depreciation point of view as well. If the battery was too shit itself, it’s not the purchasers problem. This concept is a golden opportunity.
Thanks Marcel I very much agree with your way of marketing Suggestions especially for ONVO. I get the impression that Mr Li likes to image himself like a copy of Steve Jobs or Tim Cook with his presentation and NIO day shows etc. and maybe thinks ever one is only interested in a NIO or ONVO product. My opinion is that The company needs a very professional marketing director with experience in the auto industry.Further believe that the battery swapping idea together with also charging is not getting that much attention to the potential buyer
Interesting vid Marcel. I would caution going after real estate that’s cheap just because it’s cheap. It’s usually cheap for a reason. Also, a store setup and operation is quite costly wrt all the human resources. I do agree that NIO needs to spend more on advertising. And perhaps doing a lot of pop up displays would be good. All this said, the. Onvo launch is still very very young. It’s only been out for about 10 weeks, and they’re doing ok. Let’s give them at least 18 weeks to see where they get to.
Marcel what do you think about pop-up stores? Like a transforming trailer that can move around the city showing onvo? Like the trailers that are used in formula 1... What do you think? 🤔
This video is ok. But armchair commenting on marketing and sales is dangerous. They bloody well better have a profession marketing and advertising agency that’s working on the Onvo brand. These people are not amateurs. It doesn’t mean they’re doing a great job, but we need to give the Onvo launch a few weeks to see how it’s actually performing.
Xiaomi sells their products to hundreds of millions of customers. It is a completely different beast. It is much easier for them to do marketing for their vehicles. Also they have much more capital to do it.
@@loginoff2007 Xiaomi sells more EVs than Nio despite with only one model and 4-5 years later entry into EV market than NIO. The way their CEO talks is completely different. Li Bin is just a boring dude.
@@Fordance100 these are 2 different companies. Xiaomi is a massive retailer. Also, Xiaomi's SU7 is on 30% cheaper than the cheapest NIO vehicle. NO point to compare those 2 companies.
@@loginoff2007 Yes they are good at selling stuffs. Their next car will be even a bigger hit. NIO has a lot of high cost stores, not selling many cars. Who cares you can drink coffee there. They sell large quantities online.
@@Fordance100 you saying that NIO sales a re bad, but you still did not get why a pricing segment makes a difference. NIO is doing absolutely fantastic in a premium pricing segment. They've taken over 40% of this pricing segment. There is no better company in the world which could sell more pure electric vehicles priced at >300k RMB. Xiaomi SU7 is not a premium vehicle. Please do a research first.
Marcel, your suggestion has a few downside: 1. the foot traffic in local neighborhoods comprises of “regular” or local people commuting to work/school or some business affairs etc (compare to malls which tend to attract people from wider radius) 2. You need “cars” to display them in all this Micro-Showrooms! You need staffs, logistic etc .. this could increase CapX. On another note: I think NIO could manage its BaaS development better, expanding it proposal to their Usage. Currently they are not used efficiently. Nio could become profitable very fast, if not already, by simply thinking smarter and not too-long-term. Technology has been changing fast; investing too much in one idea could bring disappointment if it gets “obsolete” in a short few years and demand better more modern solution. Cheers!
Thank you for this video of yours which explains very well the insertion of a new brand especially if it is new. Yes, marketing is a fundamental thing, you can have the best product in the world but if you are not known, then set up shops in strategic points with high traffic and visibility and, as you say, go to less expensive rental areas. Furthermore, applying discounts at the beginning is fundamental, to make yourself known and appreciated. It is not a price war but rather to attract and promote the new brand or product , and promote with trial tests, driving to explain the technology on board and all the services, perhaps this to orient not only a younger audience but also less young people. Congratulations for the video and thanks for the updates and fed back from Onvo by NIO 😉👍👏
All these marketing and sales initiatives cannot be available right now. They need to scale first. Onvo can't even attend the current demand yet. Once production bottlenecks are gone, then you jump to it.
The best way to get attention is free coffee and donuts if people come in the store for a quick 3 minute tour . Buy 2 cars gets a free Tesla brochure or 70% discount like a diamond store . That will get attention.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Tesla sells what it sell, because Elon is continually going viral taking advantage of a sort snowball effect. I think NIO needs to be more on youtube, tiktok, doiying, twich...etc. And they need professionals of advertising. Everybody speaks of Elon, good or bad, NIO Ceo is too much "quiet". And do not get me wrong I think Jack Ma had a a very crazy period dancing like Michael Jackson..., but Li Bin should first improve his English and secondly be more PR and Ads oriented. The reality is NOBODY is AWARE of NIO... But everynody knows TESLA.
For example, Link and Co hired models to pose next to their cars on the last auto show, that was brilliant, because there is a psychological association in between the brand an beautiful people and it's sexy. NIO has very good design, VERY VERY GOOD DESIGN, they need to promote that at least around the people that like good design. Tesla for example is a "nerd" company and Apple is a "cool-snob" company.
Elon is a joke for the environment, the fuel saved by his car brand is used to shoot his toys to the moon, people buying and giving money to elon should think about this.
It takes years to build a brand nio has over 10 years built a solid brand then dumps all that to start an unknown sub brand its a huge mistake why would they not look at there piers tesla byd etc they dont have sub branding even onvo by nio would have been an option, i think this outdated sub branding could be there down fall they will end up throwing all there remaining cash at it i was dubious when they said sub brand and becoming more so now .
William li is meant to be this mastermind but lacks in the most basic things of advertising and luring in customers. It’s beyond me how some of the most basic things in business being to attract customers just isn’t done yet this is supposed to be a success 🤦🏾♂️
Nio/Onvo needs to scream at their top of their lungs about the battery swapping capability to the masses. I rather have Nio using big budget for tv commercials in which they put battery swapping as the main theme instead of spending more money on Nio houses. The commercial should be about the battery swap first and the car second. Why do you think so many (plug in) hybrids are being sold like the cars from Li auto? It's because there is still significant range anxiety among people. Yes, Onvo is a new brand and brand awareness has not been fully established yet, but I can guarantee you the moment people are getting aware of battery swapping, it eliminates the range anxiety with regard to EV's among them. Battery swapping capability will make sure that people will think: "You had my curiosity… but now you have my attention". "Curiosity" = battery swapping "Attention" = Nio/Onvo cars
I'm confused. If NIO doesn't know how to sell its products, how are they managing to sell enough to stay afloat? Don't they have marketing teams? Isn't there enough demand? And if sales are a struggle, why do their sales continue to grow year after year? On the other hand, Tesla seems to be navigating political challenges in the U.S. Despite not performing well globally outside of China, their stock keeps rising, largely driven by Elon's political involvement and Trump's presidency.
They do have marketing and they are selling. Car showrooms display products that cost tens of thousands of dollars. Therefore car showrooms are rarely packed unless they are displaying freshly released vehicles. What Marcel is suggesting is to create a hype to increase brand awareness and sales further.
There is no single car in Nio where is diferent than all other. Not top seller. No innovation. Not a game changer concept. Only swap where coud be the brake true or the end of Nio.
It appears that nio cant do anything right..always scale products problems Same when nt2.0 was released, specially et5...now with onvo So much noise around onvo and they cant mass produced It months and months after being released...
Dude u r a UA-camr u r not qualified to suggest NIO management what to do .. I would suggest Nio investors stop watching these social Media posts if u have conviction in the product & service go for it .. once u r committed make sure u r onboard with management.. that is not going to change in China
Until now I thought low sales were due to limited production capacity for onvo. If low demand was hindering onvo sales, I am going to throw away all my shares.
Marketing is probably one of NIO/ONVO issue being a new Brand. Clearly needs to do better. Execution is also a big issue. How can the 85kwh battery issue was not anticipated before the launch of L60. And it's not the first time, ET5 launch was a disaster. Attention was way better when they announced it than when production effectively started. Not too sure what to say to be honest....NIO has been launching lot of news models but keep doing the same mistakes....
My regret with owning Tesla on my second go-round from being an IPO investor was not buying more at 167. I was holding dry powder back for Nio at the time. I think Tesla will be north of a 2 trillion market capitalization inside of two years. I can’t wait for the fourth quarter to see the deferred FSD subscription revenues start being recognized on top of the charging and storage business exploding…. Two extremely high margin revenue machines.
