- This video was taken with my Sony Handycam by my niece, Ashley. This is her first time trying to use my camera. So give her some slack. It's better than nothing. Just remember, that this is a high zoom camera, and it is very hard to hold it still, and find the subject in the small screen.
There are two more videos after this one with my other cameras.
Thanks, Don! Good camera crew for first timers. Thank them for us too.
No
That little thing has the presence of a full size Corsair in the air.
Great job guys 👏
Ashley! the most important shot was the landing,, you nailed it and as good as uncle Don did!
Great job! Everyone including the camera person! She looks good in the air!
Auch der Kameramann? 😂😂🤣🤣😅😅
Did you say, “Including”?
Congratulations on another successful flight! The plane looks great and it's awesome that you had family there filming it! Great landing too!😎👍
Thanks for sharing! Nice landing, tire squeaker!
AWESOME FLIGHT, and thank your camera crew also, very hard to video airplanes. BTW.....landing look and sounder great, Thanks for posting Don
Don, it was really a journey to see you build this aircraft for years. I have no other words. This. IS. AMAZING!
That landing was awesome, great flight. Who ever was talking is absolutely precious.
Have a great day
From Australia I want to say it brings me so much joy to have watched u build this beutiful aircraft and then to watch u fly it made me instantly think of my late father who designed and flew over 20 experimental aircraft.i wish u all the best and I hope u have many many hours of safe flying.thankyou for sharing your story with me.
That’s what I’m talkin’ ‘bout! That, Don, is the icing on the cake. What a thrill it was to watch an extended flight. Looking forward to your post-flight report.
As someone who's been following this build for a while now here on UA-cam, it's awesome to see it take to the sky.
Great video for first time videographers… All the right moments were captured and the narration was spot on… grandma would be proud 🥰
really good camera work for someone using a high-zoom camera for the first time 👍
your camera person did a fine job , i loved every min of your flight , it looked awesome .
👍👍 WOW that looked like an impressively short takeoff! She seems to have plenty of power and I'm guessing is running much cooler now. Lookin' forward to you tucking the gear up and hoping that goes well. 😁
Nice job Don! I can’t imagine how satisfying this must be for you. Great flight. Appreciate the ground perspective.
*That's historical!* *Your 'believers' are with you all the way, Don.* *The naysayers be damned.*
Magnificent! Well done sir!
Great flight and camera work! So happy for you and your family, thanks so much sharing.
It's wonderful to see this bird where it belongs - in the sky - Pro landing too. Kudos
So freaking cool!!! I still have a hard time believing that motor is going to last at those rom levels especially under load and for extended periods of time.
It's awesome to finally see the corsair in the air, excellent job :)
Beautiful landing!! Great camera work too, congrats to all!
Awsome flight #2 and excellent landing, Don! Video quality very good for first attempt. Anxious to hear your comments on the flight. Keep these videos coming.
she did a fine job with the camera Way to go Don she is beautiful and every bit the part of F4U Corsair she is absolutely beautiful
Wohooo! looking forward to hearing how the cooling is.
AWERSOME!!! Great job. Loved the Tire Squeak========Hell Yeah!!
Nice work Ashley (easy name to remember; my pilot daughter's name also) it's really tough to get it right the first time, especially for family. I liked the way she flew Don and I hit pause for a single shot @9:02 on the landing. Hope the flap fix worked well. She looked good I must say. Thanks for the post.
Any photos is better than no photos looking good sounding good
Oshkosh 2025!
Oh that sound. ❤
Ashley did great. That sunset taxi was awesome inspiring. Good job young lady.
Nice flight and awesome landing, thank you sharing
Congrats on first flight, looking good in air and ground. Nice butter landing.
Great flight, Don. Sounds excellent!
That plane really moves out on takeoff! Great Job!
Amazing technical skill / flying skill .Bravo Mr. Don 👍
You greased that landing, lookin good Don.
I hope to see it flying with the landing gear up soon.
You're landing looked great.
Good job she looks at home in the air. Your niece did good to.
,
The Corsair is my favourite WWII aircraft. When I discovered you were building one, I kept my eye on your posts. There are not many others out there doing the same (at least what I have seen). Now that yours is in the air, and I love the sound of your engine, you have have given us some beautifully rare moments in aviation. Thanks Don and congratulations again for a job well done.
Excellent! She looks so beautiful! So cool to get an outside view.
Such a work of art! Great job to you and those filming.
Amazing job. Great looking plane. Well done Don.
Can see the smile from Australia Don. Exciting stuff well done
Great accomplishment, your niece did great videoing. Stay safe and God Bless.
hey, we all started learning at some point, tell her she did a good job and to keep going...very nice plane!
Awesome footage! I’m so proud for you! Your plane has an awesome presence in the air. It looks full scale! Great work and I can’t wait to hear how your cooling issue is doing. Thank you for sharing and can’t wait for more!
Thank you, first time filming and I did the best I could and tried to get the most shots for the channel and my uncle.
It's not easy filming aircraft. Great job for your first time. My only tip would be to ease up on the use of the zooming in and out.
Very cool sir, well done! And thank you Ashley, those high zoom cameras can be really hard to use, good job!
Congrats on flight 2! Any initial thoughts I had about wishing she’d steady the camera vanished quickly with each adorable comment. “Uncle Donald really likes his plane…” and on…. I hope you never edit this video and that it stays in your family forever. A seemingly Impossibly better satisfaction than literally getting such a great project off the ground is having this recorded moment of loving family members witnessing it together with you.
Wow Don! Thrilling to watch her in the sky! You aced the landing! You couldn't have done a better job of it! Excellent!
I was going to say sack the cameraman but no at least they're there doing it
Well done
Sure am looking forward to the first flight with gear up 🎉
It's amazing how much we move, when we shoot video and you really see it, when you're at maximum zoom. I like the "Whoops" comment, when she realized it was pointing up at the sky. @3:00... My reply: One of the most difficult things to do is shoot video of flying aircraft, you did an awesome job!
Thanks Don !! And congratulations again!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Good work pilot!
Thank you for both 2nd flight videos great to see it from both perspectives. Thank your camera crew we really appreciate the filming.
Cheers
Nice comments from ground camera crew. Like " he finally got that airplane done" 😂😂😂. Congrats and fly safe.
Nice landing, I think you caught the 3rd wire.
Congratulations Don. Worth the time and effort!!!
Don I ❤ every minute of your flight, from start to finish👏
Many thanks to your film crew!👏👏👏 It is not easy keeping in focus and zoomed just right and keeping steady. Nice job.
Looking fabulous, Don! Absolutely fantastic!
You looked pretty awesome up there, great landing too!
Nice! I haven't been this nauseous (camera shaking) since I saw that last Ronald Regan film! (quote from "Airplane")... 1980 called and wants its camcorder back! Seriously though, a great achievement. I never flew my FW190 and sold it unfinished.
Hello, everyone I’m the one who filmed this video for my uncle, I’m sorry it’s not as perfect as some people would like but I did the best to my ability and for a first time user of the video camera, I did get some good shots and bad ones. I’m proud of my uncle’s accomplishments and I have been watching him built this my whole life. Seeing him fly was amazing and trying to enjoy this and capture it for all to see was hard! He had a great flight and a safe landing. 😊 some shots are better than others.
You did a great job, in future using a tri-pod will give you a steadier shot 👌
@@281950thank you, I’ll sure to look and see what tri-pods are available!
Thank you for helping your uncle. Must have been awesome to have grown up from a child watching your uncle build this plane with his own hands. Well done we appreciate your helping your uncle Don.
You did great. Thanks for doing it.
Congrats Don! She looks and sounds great!
Awesome Don! Something to be VERY Proud of! You did it!
So awesome! Great work from the camera person. Takes a bit of practice to track an aircraft, especially without a tripod.
Camera suggestion: make a rifle stock-like camera holder that can be aimed more easily. It can be really simple (Velcro or small bungee cord for attachement, etc). Just back sure that the camera is aligned parallel. You can even add simple sights rather than counting on the viewfinder.
Cool! Loved every second of it. Kudos to the film crew. Good effort! My buddy the retired Top Gun F14 pilot would have said Cheated death one more time!
I was looking for the ZERO you were chasing!
So wonderful when a plan comes together !
Great job, Don. Nice to see this perspective of flight as well.
your niece did a greate job
That plane looks so good 👍
I think u might have to pay your camera crew a bit more.nah nice work guys.Don mate it sounds fantastic.u get a very different sound from the ground.i love it.sounds beasty.well done mate.
Bravo! Landing look fast - but maybe ok? Smooth flying.
Great flight. It is not easy to vid airplanes when your zoomed in. But the take off and landing were filmed well. Greaser of a landing.
Poor motor was screaming on takeoff. Not bad in cruise. You really should adj that prop and slow that motor down at Least 600 rpm. Hope your cooling mod worked.
Looking into re-pitching the prop.
It accelerated very fast, so I don't think adding more pitch will hurt takeoff and climbing performance. Your engine will thank you. Having blown up my Subaru wrx motor a few times has me a bit nervous.
Go get ‘em Pappy Boyington!
Hello from Brazil!
Your niece did a great job. It's almost impossible to hold a camera still zoomed out that at far unless you use a Steadicam and the focus issue can be fixed by using the infinity setting. Your airplane looks great!
She did a great job with the video.
plane looks great
Thank you! Will continue to improve and we made the most of it and first time using the camera video.
Don Great job you Greased it. I really enjoy your videos.
Got ant jacking points ? For your landing gear check ? SEMPER FI !
Beautiful job it looks so nice in the air take off was perfect landing you had look like full flaps I don't think you need those spacers in between on the flaps it's up to you with the real one never had it looks real good in the air congratulations
So stoked for you man
Nice ! 😎
Very cool glad it went well!!
She did great! Great landing!
Outstanding!
I love watching the plane fly. Your final approaches are scary low, though! Your forward vision and safety will be much enhanced if you raise from less than 1 degree glide path to 3 degrees.
As soon as you finish your plane, you can show us how it's done...As for Don, awsome sir !! Love it !!
This approach was much higher than the first flight.
You did good with the camera work.
NOT
@@cvlindsay3833 don’t be so hard on yourself
Let's offer her a tripod... 😊
A future cameraman in the making !
I have to admit I got a chuckle out of listening to the commentary. It was definitely different not hearing you speaking. Was surprised at acceleration and speed of take off. Looked like that thing is moving. Engine sounds like it is working hard.... maybe just because it is loud compared to when it had a car muffler on it?
Takeoff power 5800 rpm.
Very nice.
It's all good just need to tripod or different camera with a automatic leveler
Gorgeous landing!!! When are you planning on retracting the gear? How did that upgraded flap motor work out?
A couple more flights.
@@Dynodon64 Did the upgraded flap motor work as expected?
Not trying to be mean but, I couldn't watch this.... And after having so much time vested in following you Don , this is the one I wanted to see the most .... Need a tri-pod to film this !!
I need to fix my tripod camera mount, but it will be ready for the next one.
@@Dynodon64 Thanks Don... Would love to meet you one day Lord willing ...
A tripod works wonders.
Very cool
